  1. And yea, the one from Spider-Man: Homecoming with Cap linked below is also a similar F you to the audience that's also really good. I'd rank them Ferris Bueller first, the one from Cap second, and the Bruce Campbell one third.
  2. This is the post-credits scene I was thinking of, and it's far older than I thought it was--it's one of the earliest post-credits scenes from Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
  3. Ah, got it. Wasn't there another final-final scene making fun of the audience for staying so long after the credits? I have some memory of a character asking the audience to leave, the movie is over, get out, but I can't remember where that's from.
  4. Are you sure they forced a lot on him? Examples? After Avi Arad forced Venom and Green Goblin, Jr on Raimi back in 2006 against ALL of Raimi's vehemently expressed wishes and after he gave his ultimatum about not having that happen on a hypothetical Spidey 4 directed by him which failed and caused him to walk away I would think his tolerance for bad decisions being forced upon him is about as close to zero as any director in Hollywood. If it did happen and he didn't just walk I'll be VERY surprised, so if you've got some solidly-sourced info please do share.
  5. Are you old enough to have shrunk yet, or have you had some back issues? Usually people who shrink before they're 70 have had something physical that caused it like overexertion or injury. Examples of overexertion or injury include Arnold Schwarzenegger (used to be about 6' 1.5", now is under 6 feet), Dolph Lundgren (used to be about 6' 4.5", now is under 6' 3"), or Hulk Hogan (used to be about 6' 6", now is under 6' 4"). Celebrities who shrunk apparently just due to age are Donald Trump (used to be about 6' 3", now is about 6' 1") and Bill Clinton (used to be about 6' 2", now is about 6' 0"). My dad and I are almost exactly the same height at 6' 1.5"; he's 73 and I'm 51. I keep waiting for him to shrink, but I don't think he has at all, and I don't think I have either because my girlfriend is 6' 1" and I'm just as slightly taller than her as I was a decade ago. So I'm surprised you think you have shrunk about 1.5 inches--did you have a back injury?
  6. Your first sentence makes Krasinski sound like the wrong choice, but by the third sentence I felt like you were actively selling me on Krasinski as Reed. Reed being boring is almost his entire schtick, so I can't fully decide if you're saying that you're all in or all out on the choice.
  7. I thought that either Strange or America said that Wanda was sending these demons to capture America. That's not a power I've ever heard of Wanda having, but she has the Darkhold so I guessed she somehow used that to summon them. There's a question I asked yesterday about where Wanda's Sokovian accent disappeared to in this film. One possible answer occurred to me last night that I hope isn't true, but it might be--they may have nixxed it as some implicit indication that what we're seeing in this film isn't really Wanda, it's the Darkhold and its grip on her. But how that would translate to an accent change is baffling, so I really hope that's not it.
  8. the name was changed to gargantos (another monster who comes a bit later in the comics) but it seems to essentially be shuma gorath and was rumored to be so early on. Shuma Gorath is a Robert E Howard property I believe, so just change the name and avoid the issues I guess. There were two at the beginning, but this is the one at the VERY beginning that killed Defender Strange I was referring to that I'm guessing is a deep cut Strange villain.
  9. Anyone know what that thing was at the beginning of the film chasing America that killed Defender Strange? I assume it's some Strange villain from the comics that's a deeper cut than Shuma-Gorath. I'm not all that familiar with Strange and only know Shuma-Gorath from the Capcom games.
  10. We needed some explanation of where Rintrah came from. In the comics he's an alien, but I don't recall other aliens in Kamar-Taj shown in the film.
  11. We never saw the 616 Mordo in this film, right? I was hoping to given that the very last scene from the first Strange film was Mordo leaving Strange and going after sorcerers. Given that Strange described Mordo as his adversary later in Multiverse of Madness suggests some things happened that we never saw, which is disappointing...I wanted to see those things. Mordo is a really compelling villain--and I'm not at ALL sure he even is a villain in the MCU which is why I wanted to see more with him.
  12. That pic of Krasinski must be fan fiction given that the costume from the film doesn't match it at all. It literally looks like Cap's costume--particularly the collar, shoulder pads, and shoulder straps that hold his shield onto his back--with a some of the Cap deco taken off and a 4 added to the chest, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's a Photoshop with the actual chest of Chris Evans still being there. His physique looks more like Ioan Gruffudd in the pic below taken from the film than Chris Evans.
  13. A bit more about this--Krasinski is also great in coming through with really dry humor when he wants or needs to. We didn't see that in this film, but we know from the Office he can pull it out whenever he wants or is asked to humanize Reed a bit.
  14. His face is fine, and his physique is almost an exact match for Reed in being tall and lanky. They've shown enough of Reed with a beard in the comics for that not to have jumped out at me. Krasinski has always had a really dry, literal way of enunciating his dialogue, and aside from the physique similarities to Reed that's why I always assumed people wanted Krasinski in the role. And his intricate, dry and rational dialogue delivery was what I thought excelled in this film.
  15. maybe her comments were before he was cast as Reed? She said it to Howard Stern about a year ago. I would think Krasinski knew by then he would be in it or that he had even already filmed his scenes. https://variety.com/2021/film/news/emily-blunt-fantastic-four-invisible-woman-marvel-1234971591/
  16. I had the Ring flashbacks when she came though the mirror. I assumed that was some kind of mirror twisting of her, not that her actual body was doing that. I don't remember enough about the context of her looking demonic when she killed Xavier to have an opinion.
  17. Was your problem with Krasinski or his outfit? Krasinski was fine, and while I wasn't a fan of the costume they could easily change that while retaining the actor.
  18. The 3rd eye is in the comics. Any idea where that's from or how he got that eye? I like to follow these threads from comics I've missed.
  19. There are quotes from Emily Blunt explicitly denying that both she and John Krasinski had been cast as Sue or Reed, but now we know she was explicitly lying. She has also said she hates superhero films, but Mark Ruffalo has also said that so who knows, maybe she will end up being Sue. She was also the original casting for Black Widow before she had a scheduling conflict and they had to replace her with ScarJo.
  20. I know you haven't seen it, but open question--weren't all of the alternate-universe humans the same actors from the MCU to date? When we saw alternate versions of Black Bolt, Peggy Carter, Maria Rambeau, Wanda, Strange, Xavier, Mordo, and Christine Palmer they were all the same actors they had been before, so it seemed like while an alternate universe version of the same human being could vary they never actually went there unless I'm overlooking someone. That implies that John Krasinski playing Reed in the 838 universe will be the same as the actor who eventually plays him in the 616. In the case of Xavier we got the 81-year old Patrick Stewart, so in his case it's reasonable to re-cast him as younger when they introduce the X-Men to the 616.
  21. Is this eye on the forehead thing from the comics with an explanation? I get that it's some side effect of the Darkhold on Strange, but for whatever reason no such body horror things happened with Wanda. I just chalked it up to Sam Raimi horror body weirdness at the time on that alt version of Strange, but when they showed it again on the 616 Strange I had to wonder if it's a Raimi or Marvel creation.
  22. I've never read any comics with America Chavez. Is there a non-cringeworthy reason her portals are shaped like the stars she bedazzles her clothes with?
  23. Like the one the 616 Wanda was dreamwalking in the film. I found the idea of Wanda creating her own kids to be straining suspension of disbelief to its limits in West Coast Avengers, Wandavision, and now Multiverse of Madness. Really wish they hadn't doubled down on the idea as the center of this film.
  24. Is Wanda dead now? I don't know what to make of them making Shuma-Gorath a throwaway monster summoned by Wanda. I had been hoping he would be the big bad, but giving him a minor role like this seems to ensure he'll never get significant screen time in the MCU.
  25. Just saw it. I like the first Strange movie better, but it was OK. There's plenty I'm still mulling over though. Wanda and Pietro are from Sokovia and have Eastern European accents. In Wandavision she never has the accent in Westview, but when she leaves Westview she does have the accent. Where was her Sokovian accent in this film?
