  2. I'm almost certain this has something to do with these shipping restrictions. Not only do customers not have the option to redirect to pick up, but Fed Ex isn't even delivering on the days they are supposed to.
  3. Also, also - I'd like to hear more about the incidents where packages have been redirected and stolen. My first question is how is the thief getting the tracking number (which you need to redirect the package)? Doesn't that information only belong to CGC, the customer, and the carrier? Are employees of Fed Ex and UPS stealing these packages? If so, one would think they could do this without the package having to be redirected. And if it's not employees of the carrier, then that implies an "inside job." If that's the case, CGC should be investigating that rather than punishing its customers with this ridiculous shipping restriction.
  4. Why is this CGC's problem? That's on Fed Ex. CGC's liability for your order ends when they hand it off to the carrier. If the carrier messes up, your package gets lost or stolen that's between you and the carrier. Also, if the carrier can't be trusted to let just anyone pick up a package without ID, then why should we trust them to deliver to the correct address and/or obtain a signature? Also, why is it okay to have the package shipped to the carrier facility (i.e. Fed Ex Office) directly. Doesn't this offer the same "danger" that CGC is trying to avoid?
  5. I will add that one of the books I received had a detached cover as the result of what many on the boards believe to be SCS. I can't prove that the extra two days on the Fed Ex truck directly contributed to this, but it certainly didn't help.
  6. Yes, something weird is going on with Fedex shipments these days. I had one scheduled for delivery last Wednesday, but mid-day the estimated delivery was updated to Thursday. Thursday comes and there's another delivery exception that occurred without an attempted delivery. That same day a Fedex Ground truck stops in front of my house for several minutes and then drives off without any deliveries. I called FedEx that same day to find out why there were two delivery exceptions on this package and they didn't know. The person I spoke to said they would make sure it was delivered the next day and it was. I work from home, so I'm usually around to receive deliveries but what is someone who works outside of the home supposed to do? That was potentially three days of work they would have had to miss to receive delivery of one package. I don't think this is a coincidence. Since CGC has put this restriction in place it seems to be fouling up the entire delivery system.
  7. This topic has dropped to the second page. Let's not forget about this, everyone!
  8. I think November to February are generally the slower times.
  9. I would suggest doing this during a less busy time for submissions. Chances are your note will be ignored this time of year.
  10. Could this be SCS? Maybe. It's just very hard to tell. With this particular case design, it doesn't seem like there's much wiggle room for the book. That tabbed slot should theoretically hold the book in place, and if it suffered some kind of trauma during shipping I would expect to see crunched corners rather than a cover detachment.
  11. CGC seemed to pack this one pretty well, so I was surprised it arrived in the condition it did. Both the case and the box looked good as well. Sadly a press is not going to fix this one as the cover is fully detached. Looking at the top of the book there is a sizable gap between the spine of the cover and where the pages are. Total loss.
  12. Just got this in the mail from CGC. Staples popped and the cover is completely detached. I've already sent photos to CGC customer service so I can be compensated, but would much rather have the book than the money. Not the first time I've seen this happen with the new holders, but the first time I've gotten one directly from CGC. Thoughts on whether this occurred during encapsulation or in transit with the shipping company?
  13. This 100%. CGC's liability ends when they hand the package over to Fedex. Once Fedex has the shipment in their possession, any loss or theft must be resolved between the recipient and the carrier. Why then must CGC control what happens to packages when they are in the hands of the carrier?
  14. There's a difference between having the packages rerouted (address changed en route) and held at a carrier facility (i.e. Fed Ex office). CGC's customers want and need the option to have packages held at carrier facilities for pickup. Not having this option is going to continue to alienate your customer base and will hit CGC's bottom line in the long run.
  15. Not sure, but I imagine customers will be charged a second time to ship it out again.
  16. You'll miss the first delivery attempt. They'll try two more times before they return it to CGC. Sadly it might take a huge influx of returned shipments for CGC to reverse this ridiculous policy.
  17. This is the reason why I want the option to have packages held at Fedex if I know I won't be home to receive them. Also, I don't want to list the carrier facility address on my submission form 2-3 months in advance because I don't know if I will be home to receive the shipment that far in advance. However, I do know two days prior to arrival which is the whole reason why Fedex has the option to hold shipments in the first place. CGC, please tell me why this new policy is more "secure?"
  18. Yep. Folks, don't give up on this. This is a dumb restriction and makes no logical sense.
  19. I used them once several years ago and never again. Interpret that as you will.
  20. I agree. CGC keeps using "security" as the reason for this change. I would like a CGC official to explain why they know how to better take care of our books than we do.
