  1. I think a lot of creators overestimate the market for Signature Series books. The margins are very low (or non-existent) once you figure in the extra $10 for CGC, facilitator and/or creator fees. Unless it's a truly legendary creator (Stan Lee, Frank Miller) or a celebrity, the signatures don't add that much value to the books. Not to mention the fact that signatures aren't really speculated on like other things in the hobby (1st appearances, "rare" variant covers, etc.). Those signed books are ending up in the hands of fans moreso than being traded as commodities.
  2. Yes? Otherwise how is CGC supposed to know that is your submission?
  3. Correct. But with CGC Accounting involved, anything is possible.
  4. Can we mix and match items from this thread and your website?
  5. I'm not big into manufactured collectibles (variants) and am more into 1st appearances. I think the play is to invest in things that haven't been adapted to tv/movies yet and hold onto them until they are. I have a pretty good eye for these things because unlike a lot of speculators, I read the stories so I know what's good and would easily translate to another medium. Some of my favorites are: Fallen Angel #1, Resurrection Man #1, 52 #11, Major Bummer #1, Planetary Preview/Planetary #1, Violent Messiahs #1, and Hexed #1.
  6. Any updates on C2E2 books hitting people's accounts? Mine still haven't shown up and I'm getting antsy.
  7. Has anyone seen C2E2 submissions hit their account yet? I'm still waiting for mine to show up.
  8. The online form still doesn't calculate shipping correctly when you choose to ship under your own FedEx account. I brought this up when the online forms were first rolled out and it still hasn't been fixed. When you choose to ship under your own account, it still calculates a shipping charge when it should be $0. Really hope this gets fixed before 6/1, if not sooner.

    Reholder Fee

It will come back with a green label. CGC will only apply the yellow Signature Series label to signatures witnessed by CGC.
  10. I don't think it's just a matter of one keystroke and hitting save. The label information for each books lives in a database. When copies of that book are encapsulated, the appropriate label for that book is printed and encapsulated along with it. If you want the word "armor" to read "armour," I don't think CGC can do it without altering the text on all future graded copies of that book. And since CGC is a U.S. company, and most of it's business comes from U.S. customers, I don't think they'd be willing to change the spelling and have 90% of its customers view the updated spelling as an "error."
  11. I'm going to go out on a limb and say "no, this is probably not possible." What you're asking for is essentially a custom label and I can't see that request being granted.
  12. Slab Storage - Any ideas besides the obvious? I currently keep my slab collection in these storage boxes: While functional, they aren't the most stylish and one side of my office is starting to look like a warehouse. Does anyone have a more aesthetically pleasing method for storing their slabs (while also keeping them safe) like specialized furniture or custom shelving? My collection is 17 boxes and growing, so the solution would need to accommodate a few hundred slabs. Thanks
  13. That will be all for this thread. I'll keep open through tomorrow night and close it down Saturday.
