  1. Happy Birthday, Tim! For your birthday, I say you gift us with some news on the show.
  2. Whew! Ok, Everyone, I was finally able to sit down and update this list. I believe it's accurate to this point, but please point out any changes that need to be made. And if you don't have a "raw" or "CGC ___" next to your copy, please let us know. I also rearranged the order a bit, placing Tim at the top (naturally), then IntoAnother as the eternal champion of the series, then Bill as the first (or near to it) graded copy to hit the census. I promise to keep the list updated going forward! Let's make it 100% Boardies Only! Here's a copy of the updated Master List from the first page: [font:Century Gothic]01. enormouscomic (the man himself, raw, for Daughter #1) 02. enormouscomic (raw, for Daughter #2) 03. 3. Also, I highly suggest using www.MySlabbedComics.com. It's fun to showcase your slabbed books there, not to mention it helps you catalogue your books.
  4. It definitely gets expensive. You have to be judicious with what you submit. I do mostly Moderns. I've gotten to the point where I can tell pretty well what will be a 9.8. I've submitted a few batches of books to them recently. Got grades back today on the first batch. 15 out of 17 were 9.8, 1 was 9.6, and 1 was 9.2 (wah wah). Another consideration is whether you plan to sell them or keep them for your personal collection. If for your pc, then you don't have to worry so much about their value. If to sell, then you have to cross-check whether the potential grade makes sense for the submission (use www.gpanalysis.com). It's definitely worth the investment once you get to that point where you know you are submitting books that will be worth much more coming back rather than buying them already graded for the high dollar amount. Still, the costs initially will add up quickly, so be careful. If you live in an area that has one of the big conventions that CGC attends, I'd advise submitting some books through them there first just to see how it all works. It can get very confusing since you have to figure out the service levels, and then try to predict the grades and subsequent values. Let them walk you through it. (Note: Do NOT purchase a CGC membership to track submissions given to CGC at a convention. They will give you a copy of the invoice(s) that they fill out for you, which you can track for free on their site. Plus, you will not be able see grades regardless since they would not have been submitted through your account. I learned that lesson. Twice. Ugh.) The Number 1 rule though is....collect what you enjoy. Try not to fall into a habit of buying books just because they're hot at the moment. Unless you're super rich, then by all means, buy them all.
  5. Nice! Was that a Preacher 1? And welcome to the Boards, and the hobby! And condolences on your future bank account. You mean people keep money in other places than PayPal? Duh, I don't know what I was thinking....
  6. Nice! Was that a Preacher 1? And welcome to the Boards, and the hobby! And condolences on your future bank account.
  7. Based on his ad, his listing is old, as he claims to be the only one..... Yeah, I've been eying that listing for literally years.
  8. I'll never have a 9.8. Too many other books in front of it on my want list. I'll just have to settle for my piddly 9.6.
  9. MFT: 7/17 - Received 7/24(?) - Verified 8/4 - Scheduled for Grading 8/5 - Graded 8/11 - Grading / Quality Control 8/14 - Shipped So, slightly less than a month for MFT....
  10. Congrats, Kelly! Happy to see you found one! -Dane
  11. I only ordered one. Paid for priority. Looks to be 9.8 thankfully.
  12. Is SDCC even a big show for CGC? Just seems that that particular convention is barely about actual comics anymore. My books arrived at CGC the same week that they would have gotten the influx of SDCC books, yet my submissions seem to be going through normally whereas I figured it would at an extra week or two as it got stuck behind the clog of convention books.
  13. That was my recollection from back in the day as well, Bill.
  14. Now Graded 8/5. Gotta give them kudos. Figured SDCC would drag out the wait much longer. Status changed to 'Grading / Quality Control' today. So, easy chart would be.... MFT: 7/17 - Received 7/24(?) - Verified 8/4 - Scheduled for Grading 8/5 - Graded 8/11 - Grading / Quality Control
  15. Wow, mailed a package on Saturday, and it's already showing up as received in their system today! Nice!
  16. Realistically, since WD 1 is outside my ballpark entirely these days, my current grail that I'm waiting to pounce on is Invincible 1.
  17. Mine was Bone 1. Finally got a copy that I liked a couple years ago. Now it's probably a WD 1 as well. (I had one from the start, but sold it years ago for something like $100. )
  18. Now Graded 8/5. Gotta give them kudos. Figured SDCC would drag out the wait much longer.
  19. Boy, I can definitely see Ving Rhames playing Elias.
  20. MFT: Received 7/17 ---- Scheduled for Grading 8/4
  21. Well poop. Yep, that was me getting an error over and over again as the count trickled downward from 51 to Sold Out. At least I got one during the pre-pre sale.
  22. . I am sure if you keep ordering one book at a time, you can expect to pay shiping on each order. IT is going to be way, way more cost/time effective to wait until the Midnight timeframe to order multiples. Good point. Unless the shipping issue is clarified beforehand, I think I'll wait until midnight and add an extra copy there that I would have gotten 30 minutes earlier.
  23. Mailed off a stack to CGC on Tuesday (from Virginia). Delivered today. Already confirmed received in their system this afternoon. Unfortunately, I was unable to get this to them prior to the flood of SDCC submissions, so I'm sitting in line behind them, which will probably add an additional few weeks. Anyway, let the countdown begin! I've got three different service levels going: MFT - 17 books M - 14 EFT - 1
  24. So then it sounds like the regular editions are now considered 2nd prints.
