  1. I'd agree with @RBerman - provenance is going to be tough with the original party not around to give any recollection of where the sketches came from. While it's probably easy to surmise they are authentic considering the source, the person buying it will now be once removed from the history of the art and then it becomes even more difficult to take at face value that they are authentic when that person decides to sell them. Without any history or provenance at all, the cost of authenticating may not result in getting that investment back (except maybe for the Caniffs, especially the one dated from 1945). Also unclear if the auction houses would be interested in listing, but that's worth a try before you opt to put them on Ebay and let the market figure out the value.
  2. Plus, a part of you has to be able to accept that a piece may be gone by the time you do your due diligence. I can recall two pieces just in the past 6 monhts that didn't stick around long enough for me to do my due diligence (one was gone within minutes while I was actually doing research on it right before I was going to buy it). Win some, lose some. And I agree with @mister_not_so_nice - I thought that was a pretty good page at that price, with each panel representing Nightcrawler.
  3. Is anyone keeping track on whether these huge flips are actually selling?
  4. I think there's a fine line between misrepresenting and not doing a little research. As a collector, part of the fun and interest for me is learning about the page and the artists involved. I would imagine a dealer who is posting lots of artwork that might be his to sell, on consignment, etc may not give it that level of attention. I spent $12 to buy a book for a page of art I bought for $50 to make sure I had the correctly notated page and artist information - but that's just me, and that additional cost is part of my desire to have an accurately notated piece of art - I would imagine that there's a different threshold to how much time and additional money dealers want to put into a piece of artwork they have only to sell, not enjoy.
  5. That was such a good show, my wife and I were really saddened to see it fall by the wayside. It really had an 'Office' feel for us, we loved all the characters on the show in their own ways.
  6. I love it when shows wrap up before they get stale. This show represents what is great about nostalgia. I'll be happy to watch, and sad to see it go.
  7. Ouch. Not even Brie Larsen's super tight Man Beater shirt couldn't help shore up that loss.
  8. Had a package that went from FL to Utah, back to FL and is now in Montana to be delivered tomorrow. It was mailed April 20. Not sure if it's Priority or not, but something definitely going on at the Post Office if other people are having similar problems.
  9. Couple of bargain covers here up on CLink: True Bride-to-Be Romances #28 Cover from 1958 by Al Avison: https://www.comiclink.com/Auctions/item.asp?back=%2FComicTrack%2FAuctions%2Fauctions_first.asp&id=1761513 Wildflowers #3 Cover from 1997: https://www.comiclink.com/Auctions/item.asp?back=%2FComicTrack%2FAuctions%2Fauctions_first.asp&id=1761512
  10. Almost finished, I'm watching the last episode tonight. The mangled toes CGI was hilariously disgusting. My only disappointment is with the guy who is carrying Maximus' stuff. He was so over-the-top hilarious in 'Super Store' that I am really waiting for more of that kind of delivery. But I'm not going to get it I don't think. Either way, I'm glad he's in the show.
  11. I'll forgive it. That movie is much stronger when you look at it through the perspective of Jane Foster getting a Warrior's Death rather than the self-deprecating antics of Thor. That's really the best part of the movie for me. I'm not a Love and Thunder hater, but I can definitely see why everyone else hates it.
  12. If we could filter out certain names - that would be good. There's a couple artists that fall squarely into that category you point out above.
  13. I think there is a common “investment” philosophy when you are younger and finances limit you to either: save money and not buy anything, or buy something and not save money. Comic books (NASCAR die casts, Funkos, sports cards) all fall into that category where a collector can feel like they are buying something that will accrue value to be sold at a later date, which allows them to feel like their purchase is “savings”, in a way. That’s a massive financial trap people fall into - and who can blame them, really? We all need a diversion or escape from the grind. I think the danger of overbuying comics that have “value” right now is damn near on par with the same philosophy back in the 90’s where people literally thought buying a stack of Youngblood #1s would pay for a year of college tuition five years later when they sold them. I think we’re there again.
  14. Same here. Sold off my entire comic collection. Doing original art now, but even at that - far less spending on the hobby. I’m not one to say “the hobby is dead!” But between newer generations not having the same kind of connection with comics as I did and the constant underhanded problems with graded books, scams and outright theft: it was time to punt the collection.
  15. Pile of EC Reprints + YOE Horror Reprints $45 SHIPPED SOLD TO INCREDIBLE PULP The EC Reprints are pretty much VG readers, but the YOE reprints are NM. They sell for like $8-$10 each for some reason on the 'Bay. Get em here on the cheap.
  16. Gen 13 Newsstand Set/Run $350 SHIPPED Complete set of all the Gen 13 Newsstand books that were made. TWO sets of the limited series, and 1-22 and Gen 13 Rave. A challenge to put this run together if you can find all the issues - which is difficult as everyone has scooped up a ton of newsstands. If you don't want to mess with paying for individual shipping on issues, this is the set for you! (picture shows a few missing issues, but they are all there and the list below is correct) Gen 13 (Limited) 1 8.0 Gen 13 (Limited) 1 9.4 Gen 13 (Limited) 2 9.0 Gen 13 (Limited) 2 8.0 Gen 13 (Limited) 3 9.2 Gen 13 (Limited) 3 8.0 Gen 13 (Limited) 4 9.4 Gen 13 (Limited) 4 6.0 Gen 13 (Limited) 5 9.2 Gen 13 (Limited) 5 8.5 Gen 13 (Regular) 1 9.0 Gen 13 (Regular) 2 9.4 Gen 13 (Regular) 3 8.5 Gen 13 (Regular) 4 9.4 Gen 13 (Regular) 5 9.4 Gen 13 (Regular) 6 9.0 Gen 13 (Regular) 7 9.0 Gen 13 (Regular) 8 9.0 Gen 13 (Regular) 9 8.5 Gen 13 (Regular) 10 9.4 Gen 13 (Regular) 11 9.2 Gen 13 (Regular) 12 8.0 Gen 13 (Regular) 13A 9.2 Gen 13 (Regular) 13B 9.4 Gen 13 (Regular) 13C 9.4 Gen 13 (Regular) 14 9.2 Gen 13 (Regular) 15 9.2 Gen 13 (Regular) 16 9.0 Gen 13 (Regular) 17 9.4 Gen 13 (Regular) 18 9.4 Gen 13 (Regular) 19 9.2 Gen 13 (Regular) 20 9.2 Gen 13 (Regular) 21 9.4 Gen 13 (Regular) 22 9.0 Gen 13 Rave 1 9.0

  18. Cherry Poptart #2 FIRST PRINTING $2 COVER PRICE in NM-/NM 9.2/9.4 $120 True first printing with $2 cover price. This is a nice copy, some very light rubbing (just like she likes it) keeps it going higher than 9.4 IMHO.
  19. Cherry Poptart #1 FIRST PRINTING $2 COVER PRICE in VG 5.0 $120 True first printings are $2 cover price, and they rarely come up - the subsequent printings are $2.25 and higher. A 3rd print sold on Ebay for $125, so I figure this seems right. This one is a great copy with the exception of a large stain on the cover that bleeds through to the other side. The upside is that it blends in with Cherry's shirt.
