  1. You bring up something I have trouble with when watching Gotham. I don't know how Gordon ever comes back from letting Cobblepot go. Cobblepot is shown to be prolific serial killer, with every Cobblepot murder from that point forward being on Gordon's head. And that's not even getting into Gordon leaving a murderous Bullock on the police force. It really is a gigantic plot hole, if Gotham is supposed to be Gordon's hero tale. How many lives has Cobblepot snuffed thanks to Jim Gordon's choices? I don't think Gordon knows what he has been up to.
  2. Before assuming anything go back and read all the details. I don't blame the buyer for being concerned. I don't think I missed anything. So a guy sends time payments and sends one on Sept 29 & Nov 7. Guy hasn't been on the boards since Sept 19th (which is like 45 days+) and can't get a hold of him and you aren't worried that a "newer" member may have taken your money? Right... Please remember. The genesis of me posting on this thread was the fact that we did have a direct communication on October 2nd via email in which I confirmed his 2nd to last payment received and told him I would not be on the boards and have limited internet access so direct email would be best. This is what I am trying to clear up. I think he forgot about this correspondence as it is left out and hence created a more dire looking situation than it really was. Bottom line is everything is mary poppins now. No not saying you are in the wrong or anything just stating that if I was in the buyer's position and I forgot you weren't going to be around and sent 2 payments and didn't hear from you since before the 1st payment over the course of 45+ days I would be worried as well.
  3. Called it! Someone brought this thread to my attention and I wanted to drop a line. On October 2nd, when John made his 2nd to last timed payment, I emailed him directly and thanked him for his payment. Confirmed that I received it and that I would be on the road with limited email access. And if he should need to communicate with me, to please email me directly. He responded in kind via direct email. For some reason, the above was never mentioned in this thread and in my opinion has created a false perception of the reality on the timeline. In hindsight I wish I would have told him in that direct email on Oct 2nd, that going forward through final payment to contact me directly and not on the boards because I would not be up and running until mid-November. That would have alleviated all of this. John is a great communicator and made all his payments on time perfectly. For staying firmly committed to the transaction the whole way through the entire summer and fall; for that I am very thankful to him. So the last payment rolled in Friday Nov 7th. At this point, again, our last mutual exchange of communication was Oct 2nd. Nothing in between as there was nothing in between previous months with timed payments. I just got to a computer yesterday on the 10th as I was off on Friday the 7th; 3 days after final payment made and found the payment along with the paypal disputes, etc. I completely understand someone getting frightened or alarmed over a $1K transaction and coming to the possible outcome of being scammed, etc. But if anyone here would have taken a moment to check out other recent posts of mine, you would have seen that I helped out a couple of board members in financial trouble, started a thread and offered some comics as a donation to a fallen board member's family, went out of my way to track a board member down who mailed me a valuable slab by mistake, or even checked out my kudos thread, or the massive inventory of SS 9.8 slabs I carry, you could come to the reasonable conclusion that I am probably not out to get someone. This slab will ship out today via USPS 2 day delivery with signature confirmation. Thanks John for a great transaction and completing all of your timed payments with diligence and great promptness. Many thanks for your consideration. Appreciate it. Preston Glad you guys got it all worked out Thanks. There was really nothing to work out. He merely opened the disputes as a hedge. Glad you are good and well, he is getting his book and everything is kosher. Congrats on the sale very cool (and ultra hard to get book in 9.8)

  7. Does it explain how easy it was to blow them apart with a fire hose? I thought last night's epi they were too easily blown apart by the hose. I haven't seen last nights yet. Likely not as that seems a bit much I do really recommend the book...well actually I don't cause then you guys will impede my progress when the ZA hits
  8. I have had MST in QC for over 3 weeks now...
  9. Yawn...silly that 5 invoices all under the same tier all received at the same time can have 2+ weeks of time between them going out.
  10. Read zombie survival guide it will explain all the ideas of decay etc.
  11. Yeah, like bi-weekly name changes! This post is Modfro, Jerkfro, uh Jeffro..... Who the am I?
  12. Until they decide to move to the other selling forums and offer up mystery boxes or "hot books" at VF grades that are far from it when they come in water stained on the inside... Again, when they get no response, or their posts get deleted or locked they will move along. It's always worked that way here. You are contradicting yourself. Saying that you don't sell here cause of the tools yet we know that adding the action thread will cause: More people to come The people that do come won't bother to read the rules Post without following the rules they didn't read Move to the other sales sections and repeat The selling threads are already having difficulty monitoring and keeping in check as is with issues like: "standard rules", mystery boxes, auctions, krapping, "mixed thread", grading etc etc etc

  14. Do people even have checks anymore? Yup wrote 3 this year. One to Randy, one to my wedding venue and 1 to the photographer
  15. I have been paid and will pay either way depending on the seller. I was sent a check for just shy of 5 figures. Why? The buyer trusted me as a seller and got a discount. I have paid a couple of guys via the same method. Why? Because in return I got a discount. Would I send most guys a check? Nope.
  16. Pay less...not likely, but expect to pay more on the "keys" that have OW/W or better pq. Data is very limited and doesn't always support it but like always eye appeal etc always play a role. If you have 2 books and 1 has cr/ow pages and the other has white...which one will everyone buy? Just like sports betting the scales must tip to encourage others to take the other team (ie the price will move on one of them).
  17. Restored is very difficult to nail down as a value percentage and as you have eluded to depends on the book. The more restoration, the more the value decreases. The individual who did the restoring will also affect the value (child who coloured some black lines in with a sharpie vs a professional who used the proper inks). Trimming is a killer for most and will become the hardest. Things to consider: Rarity of the book - if the book is rare, then people will still pay a fair amount for the book even with restoration. Amount of restoration - more there is the "less" original it is. Quality of restoration - better done better the premium Personally I would rather take a blue lesser grade than a higher grade purple. The market for restored books is smaller and thus resale is currently difficult but for discount it might be attractive.
