  1. Yeah, I was checking them out. That J.G. Jones piece is really nice!
  2. Ha! He bought the #9 off Pedigree. Almost $600.00. This man is on a mission!
  3. Almost forgot. Go-t-a has a bunch of Red Sonja original art for sale, and some other great stuff too. Check it out here. http://www.comicartshop.com/ComicArtShopsByCat.asp?View=A&Page=1&GCat=9664&GSub=%25&Order=Date
  4. I wouldn't say we're the only ones, but definitely the biggest. If you want to rustle some jimmies start talking about the character of collectors who collect comics that feature men in tights. Like X-Men, Avengers, Batman, Superman, etc. Those are all keywords, and when someone does a search this thread will show up. Get ready for the flood. , just kidding folks. I love those books too. On a relevant note, hitman just put up a beautiful #12 Red Sonja 9.8 WP on eBay.
  5. Damn, that one slipped by me. I'm losing my touch.
  6. You like to live life on the edge, don't you?
  7. He actually lowered the price on these. They were $249.00, but they've been there for as long as I've been collecting these. No one wants to touch them. It's like hitman's #2. It's upside down in the case, and even though it's 9.8 white pages, no one wants it either. Finicky bunch, aren't we?
  8. $255.00, and I have a pretty good idea who it was. Yep, that's who it was. This guy doesn't mess around! Hate to go up against him if anything we want pops up. Sheesh!
  9. They grade it a VF/NM which is a 9.0. Looks nice though. Price is a little crazy. Nicer than the ones on My Comic Shop. The one on Comic Link sold for $245.00. Assuming you could get that again, you could just about break even. If it's a 9.0. Hard to tell from just a pic, and you never know what CGC is going to give it. Especially if there are any interior issues. Writing, coupons cut out, etc. At the price they're asking it would have to be pretty nice. It's a gamble, but right now it's the only one out there worth grading.
  10. NO ONE IS BIDDING !!!!! ====== the action is on ebay on a white pages copy mentioned in post above ==> http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Red-Sonja-1-CGC-9-8-NM-MINT-white-pages-Marvel-Comics-1977-/271045863622?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item3f1b97a8c6 And world wide sold thiers for 220?$ I am sticking with my $190 guess on both books $255.00, and I have a pretty good idea who it was.
  11. Have you noticed that the raw #'s 7, 8, 11, and 13 are being quietly bought up? Hopefully we'll see some more submissions. You can follow them on cgcdata.com.
  12. MutantKeyes bought the one on WW. I'm not sure what's up with the one on Comic Connect. There's a reserve on it, and I can't remember if it started with one. At the rate it's going, I'm not sure it will cover. The eBay copy is very nice with quite a few bidders on it. I believe it could break $200.00.
  13. Check this out. Original artwork for Savage Sword of Conan #29 splash page by the great Gil Kane. http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=421420&gsub=65790
  14. Some crazy bidding going on in that #1 auction. A couple of low feedback bidders. I'm thinking it might break $200.00 though.
  15. Yeah, that's how I knew about it. They send you a link where you can accept or reject the transfer. How did it end? The guy seems legit. Looks like we have some new competition. He just got the 9.6 #10 off Pedigree.
  16. Maybe he simply added all his accumulated books at once into the registry but I admit, it sounds suspicious. One year I was bumped from my #1 spot in a specific title by someone that I knew for a fact no longer owned most of the books. I alerted CGC, showing some specifics where he sold the books, but nothing was done. After that I lost a lot of interest in the registry. As with anything else on an honor system the integrity of the Registry is open to suspect. After doing some more research it would seem that this guy is legit. Metropolis is pumping these Suscha News copies in 9.8 like there's no tomorrow. So anyone with the cash could probably come close to duplicating his set right now. At least to issue #142. Cross checked some of his serial numbers with the ones for sale, and none matched. So maybe he did get the number of my copy from the picture of the one he bought. One thing is for sure, he's got money to burn. I figure at the minimum it cost $20,000.00 to buy all 178 books. Not an outrageous number, but not chicken feed either. Hey, more power to him.
  17. I thought that too, but when I clicked the history tab you can see that it's about every 7 days a bunch get added. Say when HA closes there weekly auction, or Comiclink ends theirs each month. So basically this guy is outbidding and winning these on every single auction since Jan. I just can't remember seeing that many for sale. If it's legit he's the greatest collector of the year. Maybe of all time, .
  18. This seems to come up at least once or twice a year. There's been several cases of people getting their registry sets removed when ample proof is provided to the mods. The worst offender I recall was someone who put together a "Top 3" set of X-Men and several other titles He/she was repeatedly stealing numbers from a Board member's active auctions. I have no proof that this is happening, but he's actually registered at least 187 high grade and pedigree books since Jan. 2012, and none before then. They exist in three different sets of the same title. So it looks like there may be some duplicates. I don't have time to look at every single one. I just find it hard to believe there have been that many 9.8's and pedigrees available for sale since then. All I can say for fact is that he tried to register one of my books in another, but similar title. For anyone who cares, just check to see if any of your comics that take place in the Hyborian age are missing.
  19. First of all, what a TOOLish response! Second, how does any of that apply to his attempt to add your comic to his registry? Sorry, that was in response to me asking him why he tried to register my book. He said he had purchased the same book as mine, and that he was trying to register the number in the pic, but where I bought mine doesn't use stock images. Besides, what are the chances of my book being the stock image? That's when I asked how he could have amassed such a huge collection of pedigrees in such a short time, and that others might be concerned. Since he was trying to register one of my books I felt it was a valid question.
  20. Why would someone try to add comics to their registry that aren't really theirs? Would it help with a fraudulent sale or something? Not sure if that's the motivation, but he definitely has best in set for '12. He just responded to me saying that he's at a point where he can enjoy the privilege of over paying, and that his registering of his comics with CGC could use improvement.
  21. Someone has a registry set with over 200 Pedigrees in it?!? I HAVE to know what set this is now!!! If I told you the cat would be out of the bag, and I'm not looking to make any enemies on here. It just seems odd that someone could amass a collection like that in such a short time, and if they hadn't tried to register one of mine I'm not sure it would have crossed my mind.
  22. Is there a protocol for when someone tries to register a comic from your registry set to theirs? I got the email from CGC saying someone was trying to register one of my books, but without naming names or what comic here goes. It wouldn't have been so bad until I looked at their profile, and saw how huge their registry set was for a certain comic. At first glance it would seem normal, but looking at the history, the whole set, mostly 9.8 pedigrees had been gathered since Jan. of this year. I'm talking over 200 books too. Looking at the other registry sets you can see it took years to build them. Another thing that struck me as odd was the almost frantic removal and addition of issues. I guess what I'm really asking is how hard would it be to just start plucking numbers off books that you see online in auctions, for sale, or others collections, and just start adding them to your own registry? Then when the real owner wants to register it they get denied, and have to prove they really own it. Wouldn't that show up as frantic additions and removals in said persons collection? Not to mention books that have never been registered, or taking numbers from collectors with collections so big they don't even know what they have. Those would be free of scrutiny almost. Have any of you veterans dealt with such a thing before?
  23. Yeah, that's how I knew about it. They send you a link where you can accept or reject the transfer.
  24. There is a collector known as Barry James who just tried to register my Red Sonja #5 to his Registry Set. Has he tried this with anyone else? If so, please let me know. Thanks, Steve. over.
