  1. I find the brothers' ethics repulsive, but I'm wondering, has anyone ever discussed their reputations with them? Surely they must be aware of their public perception?

  3. I've always been a fan of Alan Davis's facial expressions. He does a fantastic job of not only differentiating non-costumed human characters from one another, but each expression brilliantly conveys what the character is feeling or thinking in that particular panel. A lot of artists' characters tend to all look alike - and they all seem to always be feeling the exact same thing too - but not with Davis.
  4. It's interesting for sure ... but in doing my research for the SpawnWorld guide, I had it confirmed directly by the folks at McFarlane that 137 was the last newsstand issue printed. Additionally, in all the hundreds (thousands likely) of Spawn newsstand issues I've seen, owned, and examined, I've never seen another sticker even close to that. My guess would be that it was added after-the-fact, possibly by the retail store. Nonetheless, congrats on finding the 136 and 137 - those are tough to find!

  8. They definitely credit Hasbro throughout, I can't recall if they credit the animation studio or not (Toei)
  9. I hope I didn't give the impression that I believe that I own anything more than the art-object. I don't. I can't sell prints of the subject matter legally (nor would I want to). Nonetheless, I do (simply by virtue of it's creation) own the copyright to the photo I took. For those interested: The specifics of this piece amount to more than a 'xerox' : The cel setup consists of multiple pieces that must be arranged on top of one another before the photo can be taken. I temporarily register them with paper clips, take the photo, then digitally paint out the clips in photoshop. (I'm just providing this context as to your discussion - I don't mean to imply that this makes my photo a Picasso) I'm not sure where the idea that the original artist(s) weren't acknowledged came from - I didn't state one way or the other. But I suppose they weren't - as with most animation, the artists of any particular cel often go unattributed. The backgrounds on the other hand can sometimes be attributed (sometimes they're even signed!). In this particular case, I don't know the original artists beyond the studio (Toei), and they definitely weren't named on the show.

  14. Hi all, I'm curious to gather some opinions. A photo that I took of one of the pieces in my collection was used on an episode of a Netflix TV series. It was used prominently, as a static image, filling the screen. Clearly, I don't own the copyright to the content, but of course, I do own the copyright to the image that I took. The image is watermarked, but they zoomed in enough so as to exclude the watermark. There is no doubt that it is my image, and it was pulled from CAF. On the one hand, I think it's great that they used the image, as (I believe) it will add to the desirability of my piece. On the other hand, it would have been great to be contacted, asked, acknowledged, and paid. What are your thoughts?
  15. Generally speaking, oils should not be framed under glass - but if you just mean the frame itself, it can definitely be spaced so as to protect the finish.

  19. Thanks - Way more time than I probably should have! Luckily I had almost all of the images already selected/scanned/cropped/labeled from my work on the encyclopedia, so assembling them into this was more of a math problem than anything else.
  20. Spawn 222 was not an incentive cover. It as a randomly distributed cover limited to 400 copies.
  21. To celebrate Spawn #300, I put together a poster with images of every character (actually every proper noun) ever shown in the comic! This includes issues 1-299 and Spawn: Resurrection, as well as various spin-offs and one-shots.
