  2. Went all day.....a lot of interesting stuff....great con
  3. BB-one of the last great American original comic collectors/dealers has passed. For our comic book community we have suffered a great loss. One that cannot be replaced or duplicated. BB helped more bay area comic book collectors become life-long fans On a personal note, I was in contact with BB and was told so much GA/SA information that has never really surfaced and BB would always have an answer and if not would research it and get back to me BB amassed a priceless collection of tapes of interviews of a number of GA creators...that was his greatest fear...that all of that priceless information will lost forever. Hopefully, this will be donated and transcribed by someone who really cares. RIP....fellow true comic book collector
  4. I would be surprised to learn that you'd suppress information that might inflate the value of a comic you are selling for yourself or a consignor because you don't want to hurt the feeling of some existing Superman 1 owners who might get upset at information about two versions being disseminated (are their really any?). Just as I'd guess that you'd have no problem suggesting that an October copy you were marketing might be a bit cooler than a November copy of MC 1 all other things being equal. Because, after all, you make your money selling comics. But, hey, I can be surprised. My experience is that Heritage had no problem hyping a variant GA book for me, even though CGC didn't note it on the label, and it did as a result garner a higher price than an equivalent non-variant. I'd expect savvy dealers to act that way - which you obviously are - and I look forward to seeing what happens when a seller asks Heritage to hype an "on sale June 2" ad version. I suspect for CGC the real problem is that they spend too much time letting themselves be limited by Overstreet. Which may be smart, because one of the few times I've seen them get out in front of OPG on a cutting edge notation they got it, I believe, wrong (e.g. as to what is Neal Adams' first comic cover). So maybe CGC is wise to draft in OPG's wake. But my guess is that OPG will split out Superman someday just because they need to come up with new substantive content to keep people buying it as no one cares about their pricing anymore. you know what that is gonna due to the value of those books the first printings go up and the 3d go down...also CGC offer to reholder all graded superman 1 copies...restored or not with the proper label...Overstreet is a nice blast from the past...this is 2024. Put it on the label not the notes
  5. This is why Superman #1 will never be as valuable as Action 1 or Det 27....the second or thrid or whatever you call it.....is a reprint...plain and simple...a nice one....BUYERS BEWARE !
  6. 9.8 TOS is not hype...its for real....amazing book along with DD1
  7. 3d printed copies are clearly less valuable than 1/2....and that should be NOTED on the label....It is a REPRINT! Buyer Beware!
  8. I think if you keep this year...1958 in context and the new editor of Action/Superman run which I was unaware and where this volume begings then the stories are fantastic. This is over 3 years before FF1.....but as you get deeper into the years say 1959/60 the Sci-Fi elements really stand out. So I do disagree with you and the price in this format is unbeatable at over 800 pages with the new introduction. A big value for $67.
  9. There is a full seven minute plus video review on youtube...."SUPERMAN the silver age omnibus vol 1 First Look"....it just came out.....FANTASTIC If anyone can please link this...thanks
  10. Excellent...please let us know what your review after you get to it!
  11. Finally...its here and wow the price on Amazon is only $67 bucks. Over 800 Pages and the printing and reproduction is fantastic. The bang for the buck....just wow. I hope, I demand a second volume. They just do not make them like they used to. I am over halfway done in on this omnibus and its just amazing for the time, the craft and the excellent writing that was in that time period. When I read this, I try to place myself back in time..to when you would go to the newsstand and buy these amazing treasures. This was an important step in the sliver age....like a snapshot in time. Let me know your opinions on this? My highest recommendation as a 50 plus year collector.
  12. I think it is unfair to compare the Promise collection on any type of judgement with Church or any other Pedigree which has had 20...30 or 50 years to amass a following after proper distribution among collectors and given that time elapsed long period in which major GA market appreciation took place . What I am saying is give the "Promise" collection a chance and "Leave them alone" in the immoral words of "Chris Crocker" on Britney Spears. When I purchased from Chuck at the SDCC some of the Church issues in the 70's way over guide...If I had attempted to sell them within one year or two....I would be getting the similar results as see here. You are "Rushing to Judgement" way before the real time to make a real decision using proper hindsight. Got back TO THE 70'S and you would probably get worse results then seeing here a couple of years after purchase under this ever sale of every book microscope . Lets make a intelligent and proper decision when the real time to reflect is right. I am sticking by my prediction and advise...They will in the long run prove to be a great purchase as long you hold for the proper amount of time.....and as I said the Promise book are a great LONG term hold. LEAVE THE PROMISE COLLECTION ALONE!!!!!!!
  13. Weird Science is the better of two.
  14. do we have an actual release date for the SC-FI issue?
  15. hey lets give them a CHANCE ....once every 70 years
