  1. This is not you mail and take a chance and send your book in. This is a submission in person...generally not the same risk involved than shipping it. CBCS screwed it up.....that alone when you hand them the book would cause great concern.....Do not get me wrong, I like Steve and he is no longer there...with the company. I hope you somehow get your book back.
  2. What about golden age Cap 1-10....anyone know what happened to that one.....I think X men was outstanding by the way!!! keep it goiing
  3. I do not think CGC would try to put one over on a collector whom a book which was very important and difficult to replace by attempting to compensate for the loss, by saying you cannot use CGC or CBCS graded books as a measure of loss or compensation in true value. That ignores market place reality and actual replacement costs and is certainly is insulting and a step below CGC..opps make that a mile..
  4. CGC all the way, CBCS is a second tier company. Classic line CGC sells for more....Duh
  5. Current bid on TTA #1 at Ha is $2500 or $3000 with BP with 16 days to go....I think it will be under 5K going into the auction and then it who really wants it. Under 10K agreed.
  6. The census is just an indication of how many copies exist...do not let that fool you, this book is impossible to get because the owners of it know, that if they sell it would be impossible to replace and probably overtime cost a lot more money. If it is a stretch then make it, you will not be sorry. I agree with robo, contents can enhance the value, this has COT1 in it. That adds value, Robo your content on your copy is fantastic!
  7. I hope you do win it as it would be great for a board member to get it!!!!
  8. my take, in the old market pandemic 50K.....coming out of it 30K....today 25K....if not for the strong color copy...it might of been 20K. In the long run it will play out well for the buyer, really not replaceable with those deep covers. However, I am concerned about the price regression from the last sale....last one was like 25-26K which shows the overall downward trend of key books in the last two years. If the seller had to pancake it right away, he might lose money like those promise non -collector gamblers who are flipping back and taking a big hit most of the time. This is sort of a warning sign....OK 25K for a EC book graded 5.0 is a big stretch for EC collectors...I get it...but I am worried, when a once in a lifetime book with exceptional color and graded in my opinion accurately based on a eyes on look does not go up from the last sale or is even close in price...then I see a red flag day coming for all serious GA collectors. However this might be the best time in history now or in the future to go after the 1.8....right now its $1650....after this sale. So, I mean if any book is going to survive some sort of price adjustment it would be this one, and on the lower price end you are very very safe. It took a collector friend of mine over 30 years to find his copy that was #1 on this list for that entire time.
  9. Wow.. I cannot recall back to back auctions where the ultra rare tales of terror annual #1. First comicconnect just closed at almost 25k for a 5.0 and now a more affordable 1.8 on ha with bidding under 2k still. This has always been a tough book, no Gaines file copies etc ….any predictions… 5k minimum for me
  10. WHICH ONE...CC SEE ABOVE...The Ha current auction copy is only $1550...it is a 1.8 and looks great...21 days to go... This is the one if you are on a budget you have been waiting for. The CC price was strong and I think we will never see that copy again for a long long time and in that condition a great buy. FYI when I mentioned along with CC that colors were exceptional when I looked at it at SDCC...compare the 1.8 color....I mean wow...the CC copy was insane....The 1.8 is a great book, affordable.....my guess 5-7K.
  11. Under 1/2 hour to go on the Tales of Terror Annual #1 auction at CC. It will be a very interesting day to see where this ends up up.
  12. 4 days to go on the TTA#1 auction at CC. There has been some bid movement, currently up to $23,575 with BP.
  13. WOW 30 K....amazing pulps have come a long way since that original price guide...super!!!!
  14. One of the greatest pulps ever is being aucitoned off at HA.com on Aug 24's pulp auction My favorite of the auction is the "Gorilla of the Gas Bags" it looks like a great copy...I was surprised that the current bid is $11,000 pus bp which would made it over 13K...any idea what this will sell for ?
  15. Update on TTA #1 comic connect auction ...Bid is $19500 with BP $22425 so it has cracked the 20K mark with 8 days to go, next up 30K!
  16. I had read that Jon kept a few books when he sold his collection, I think he posted about that on the boards. So he did keep some material with him to end. Can anyone confirm that. John is a collector they just do not make anymore.
  17. Please read the above, apparently you missed it....especially #2
  18. Nice youtube video with CC and Jon Berk can somebody add that to the thead, its great
  19. SF Duck I am shocked that somehow have converted my bringing a second opinion awareness to the boards on a posted statement made by Bud Plant about Bob somehow qualifies me as a Gladiator for him, or Bud, or Donald Duck or Huey, Louie, and Dewey. Let me respond to your above post and correct what needs to be corrected. 1-If your are a member of facebook anyone can access Bob's two facebook pages. They are unrestricted. Please correct your post above using the edit button. 2-"Without judgement who is right or wrong"...you cannot made a true and informed judgment without looking at all. the facts, statements, and evidence. I will NOT shut out the truth because it a inconvenience to you as an unappointed moderator wanting to put your head in the sand and not being aware of different points and provable facts. Everybody's opinion counts and the assertions that Bud made saying it was the biggest mistake of comix and comix was taking Bob on as a partner and the creation of the store itself. Well SF Duck, lets hear the other side. Bud bought it up, put it on a public form to comment on and I do need you to tell to go "somewhere else". because this is where the statements were made...this thead by Bud himself. Of course this shocking response which would unable to put up on the boards due to the current rules would create considerable response and controversy. I am not Bob's mouthpiece and I resent your implication that I am. I did not even present the highlights of his response, more of a general comment and notice to give a read before a "rush to judgment". If I was bob's gladiator I would posted a LINK to the facebook page post...as you can do it for each post. Bob did go public SF Duck by posting on them on FB and a half dozen comic book related facebook groups and since your post I contacted him and he is fully supportive of people reading his post from the boards. So please edit that too! 3-SF Duck please stick to being a mediator not a moderator.
