I thought his monster stuff was much better, very stylish -
The extent of these crimes...which have gone undetected for who knows how long, started because CGC made the holders have to be replaced over time.....now it is coming back to them 10 fold. I would think GA comics and early SA comics might be harder to scam CGC with... possibly, or hopefully but I would say the other books who knows....just changing a book with the same grade without a centerfold would be a major setback....solution ....make the holder tamper proof to the point it loses the GRADE entirely!!!!

Can anyone provide the Clift notes on the CGC case tampering incident?

it is a shame that a few bad apples are gaming the system to make tons of money on the true comic collectors back. Solution is easy...make the holder more difficult to tamper with..... -

With this year coming to an end, I want to give a big shout to the 2023 "thread of the year"...everyone involved...After 60 years of collecting it is very refreshing to "learn" something new....and I did a lot of learning on this and other related theads on this topic in 2023. You had to be there, to wait each week to see what they were going to come up next to blow your young mind...what a joy and what great timing I had. But there always was a mystery as to how they did it...every magic month after month. It was not one guy but a bunch of them at the right time and the right place...and believe me, in 1961/62 there were great expectations for the future through super science and people had real imaginations. Here is a hat tip to everyone and let us continue this into 2024!!!! thank you and HNY -
RIP true comic book collector!

COMIC STORES 2023: 'IT'S NEARLY 2024 AND I'M MORE THAN CONCERNED'
Mmehdy replied to Prince Namor's topic in Comics General
This one of the greatest theads of the year...yes I know opinions differ....but still big bang for your reading bucks My 2cents..everyone is right....there are valid points in all statements...however the future of the comic book shop which is not dead, by any means is still on the decline...as is all retail...it is just consolidation ..I mean Amazon wiped out the a large % of shops, just as costco and wallmart has taken out mom and pop grocery stores here in Calle. I just wish some billionaire would open the greatest comic book shop ever...and keep it open...forever Lets take a minute and say what would be the last store to go....the easy answer is the Mile High Largest in the world comic book store....when that closes....well.... As far as sweeping it under the rug....the great arguments have been made and stated........ The real winners here...are WE board members who have read, with some commented and those who consider the future...as long as there are true comic book collectors who care...we will be fine ....happy holidays -

Here is my 2 cents worth in the debate of the "century" between Vintage and PN. I respect both of your opinions and agree/disagree with both of your points of view. 1-Marvel which is now owned by Disney needs corp approval to probably spend $$$, the bigger the company the smaller the ability to do things with who knows how many approvals are needed to spend corp money-so you are both right on this, Vintage's observation that Mavel has taken a second position at NYCC but his assumption that that is the true state of affairs. SDCC is the biggest and best comic book convention in the world, let alone the USA and you are wrong on that point. The Marvel booth as been the same size at least the last 3 years and has been consistent and unchanged for a number of years and have a lot of attention every year including last. When that booth is cut in half...I will agree with you. 2-forcing creative decisions by ordering change according to "corporate" values has a vast danger. I suggest both of you revisit on the greatest subversive movies of all time....ready....Rollerball 1975...true classic ...they used the action to hide the message.....Remember when Jonathan E ( notice no last name) and Mr. Bartholomew discussion on his retirement...Corporations have provided for everything...food, energy etc...you have a good life...of course you do what we say....that is the real danger here...rather than have a natural evolution or revolution Blackrock and Disney, which does not have our best interest in heart, is gonna tell what is going to be made in the RIGHT way, in the corporate approved manner, call it waken, call it joke or whatever, remember those who control the past control the future. So now Disney has to eat it because the Marvels, which is trash, and has been done over and over again is being rejected with the record 2d week decline of 78% worst any of the previous marvel movies...well DUH I get the point that change had to have been made....here is the case in point...the classic movie When Worlds Collide...1951...the end of the world......well everyone was "white" on that ship at the end of the world trip that had to and rightfully change for the better. See the issue here is not what is right or politically correct...its who is using this change for their own purposes in addition to the cover story... mostly its power, money, corporate values etc Just beware who is "Big Brother" and remember that Blackrock, Disney and a whole host of characters are NOT you Brother. 3-Change is painful, change is reality, change is life as opposed to death.".Sabre" was one of and still is a classic graphic novel I enjoyed in 1978...I still have it!!! that was change, that was beautiful, that was art, that was guts, that was love for the comic book...well that old saying...it is not what it used to be....where are those people today..2023...different, faster thinker, bombarded with every I phone, TV thought control device...we need more of one person....we need Jonathan E today!!!!...back in 1975....they for told you coming....but back then you were supposed to show up in 2018.....never happened...lets give it a couple of more decades....JONATHAN......JONATHAN.......JONATHAN.. -

COMIC STORES 2023: 'IT'S NEARLY 2024 AND I'M MORE THAN CONCERNED'

As a 60 plus year collector, dealer, and still to this day reader...here are my thoughts and predictions; 1- the single comic book for 4.99...5.99 etc is a dead man walking which will revert to new material being released as graphic novels only, that will add another 10 years plus the life of a comic book production . Single Comic books even if dead here will have to follow the Japan model. I do not see a complete demise of this art form in any time in the near future. I do see a forced trend to elimination of the printed comic book on environmental grounds to save trees..forests etc , as well as a general trend for all print media to go that way. Again, our savior in the comic book world will be the graphic novel...here is the problem...future comic books collecting will have a cut off date...that is no new single issues...no new collectors PERIOD ...just readers . DC/Marvel going price reduction...never happen, they dont care and they will do what they did to Mad Mag....remember that...the king of comic books in terms of sales...they will slowly kill it with no new material until it does on some internet site which is shut down. DC goes first, them Marvel. 2-The demise of the current issue sales is also a combination of instant access to millions of back issues at a much cheaper price..some as low as a $1....The back issues, which might be better written and possibly drawn will take down the new issue sales as time goes on..consumers will always take the better deal..as well as collectors. 3-The current reprint material, such as the one I am reading now which is Green Lantern SA Omnibus 1....that material is first rate, I purchased that at SDCC for $50...it contains 3 showcase issues and 35 regular issues. The intelligence in the story line as well as the outstanding art for like 1.25 an issue in a hardcover book....who is even gonna pay 5 bucks for 22 pages......Look for more collectors to restort to the SA and Bronze Omnibus and other graphic collections. 4-Comic book stores which are on the decline...its happening all over, not just to comic book stories...people are going on line...buying for cheaper because the retailer has less overhead without a store front. You are not gonna pay your local comic book store $10 more for the graphic novel over time. 5-The Marvel Flame of hits has hit a brick wall.....look at the Marvels....just garbage and a mess...hey I do like very much LOKI....and GOTG3...it can be done right....just like the comic book, the entire company needs a reboot....not a bad thing, unless they screw it up. So...Marvel....DC...fi you are listening...change or die....and in this world of NO patience...you had better shake things up to save what little we have left of a great, mighty institution called the comic book shop... it saved you many years ago, you owe us....I do not want to say in 5 years....remember the day we used have comic books shops. MY 2 cents Mitch -

I do and highly recommend them...I would rank them FF 1, Spiderman 1, Spiderman 2, Silver Surfer 1 ( (yet to get), X men 1, and Avengers 1.....the size of them helps me remember that when I went back many later to my first school...everything seemed smaller... a lot smaller....and so was I back then....but being of small size the comic books seemed larger than life...When read both the FF and SM it kind of transported me back to that time...I remembered that I would like a comic book panel for a long time. Well this size has taken me back and I have noticed things I have never seen before...so A plus, and the SM2 is what I am currently right now and cannot wait for Cap 1-13 GA......wow just wow -
