  1. Amazing...cannot wait to see the Captain Future set you got.....super deal
  2. I bought from him one time by mail and a number of times at SDCC(especially HC marvel and DC books)...the packing was excellent, the price...I could of found cheaper but I was buying a set and them came as advertised the condition, if their prices would be more in line with actual value I would buy from them again.
  3. Thank you Mitch for your Honesty and Fair Dealing from day 1 and the SDCC loses a good one. I understand the increased costs of everything here in San Diego as it has become a world class destination. The show, with its supposed" good intentions" is year by year weeding out the "old" like Terry Stroud, Bud Plant..and replacing it with whoever can pay the highest price and not complain about it. Very bad for us "old timers" who wanted to go to a real comic book convention and not a Hollywood promo show. I always believed that there should be a Badge priority given to persons who have attended all of those years...and there should have been a discount given to dealers who also have be loyal and attended for a long time....that is what is right...but the economic reality is a different thing. I hope you will at least still attend some time in the future but good luck getting a ticket unless you know somebody as the movie people have jammed the attendance and made it a "lottery" to get a ticket. I also want to thank you for having my back on these boards in the toughest times. I guess both the board and myself have mellowed or at least accepted my "style" of communication. I wish you all the best.
  4. How very true...you had to be there, I was from #1 to really feel the void that was created when you opened the next issue and said...What happened!....I wish Jack and Steve never left.....well FF1 growing up was my favorite SA book hands down, with Spiderman too, but I thought John's art was great work and there just did not seem to be that much of a void..AT THE TIME...I will grant you in hindsight...what a change...still nobody could fill Jack's shoes on this run.
  5. what a great year...maybe the best year of my memory for Marvel, bought everyone off the newsstands, SS1 was mind blowing and Nick Fury...wish they could get that kind of "magic" again in the new comics of today.
  6. I think every auction, Ebay, CC, CL all can be shilled by your friend or seller as a second person and its impossible to stop. So I don't think that Ha...even though in Texas the auction house or seller can bid is any worse than any other auction house. You really take a chance to pay the " worlds highest price when you bid...everybody knows that, that is why my auction rule is simple: I will pay the value that I think the item is worth to me..period and not some zombie bid button pushing person who wants just to win at any cost. Whether is the seller, his brother or another bidder runs the price up of you, always follow that rule...you should be OK. The best way to buy any serious GA is direct Dealer or collector at a fixed price that you both agree upon.I understand the rarest of the rarest might only be available by auction...in that case you have no choice if you want to go after it, but you do have the ultimate power not to keep pushing the "bid" button.
  7. $2600 is a steal for the set...if possible can you post a few of those gems.......it was towards the end of the auction otherwise 4K..CONG
  8. It is hitting towards 15 Mil auction total.....the market is strong at 14,260,000 with a lot of lots left....
  9. No, on the other side I don't think the Marvel 1 is worth 975Kplus which bid, I value it about 777K, I don't think the Frtiz thunda page is worth 30K with BP either...I know of a private sale of a 8 page Feldstein story earlier this year that broke his previous records based upon that, the current price and my value of it are conservative to say the least.
  10. It should be interesting to see if any of my top 5 hits my value mark 1-Destruction of the Earth 8pg classic Sc-fi story by Feldstein. Current bid is 13K with BP...my value is 50K 2-Captain Future complete pulp collection 1-17 with 7 Migh High type copies ..currently 1k and a steal...the #1 and the 7 MH type copies I value at 2k add in the rest and you have 3400 is my value 3-Cap1-6.0 current bid 93K...look for it to hit at least 125K and my value is 150K plus and 250K in less than 5years. 4 Whiz 1...the secret is out on this book...its at 111K and it should hit 125K...my value 150K plus 5- Mad cover 59 in mint condition...its at 25K.....I have to say...it should hit at least 37K. but my value is 50K
  11. ON my top five lots here is my value estimates also with the current price. I think the 2 best deals out there are Feldstein's "Destruction of the Earth" classic 8pg story in great condition its currently about 11K/13K with BP and I value it at a solid 50K. The Captain Future complete pulp set...probably the best collection condition wise out there or one the best with 7 Mile High type pulps in a set of 17 is only about 1k with BP, I value the MH 7 at at least 1250,plus #1 in solid fine at 250...its a great 3-4K value for the high grade set. Whiz one is up there at 111K...the secret is out...great copy and great book and great story..my value 150K plus. Cap#1 at 6.0. at 93K is great deal....I think its a solid 125K pus soon to be 150K for any 5.0 copy out there. The Mad #59 cover is a tough one, I remember bidding and losing out on the Mad cover parody of " Uncle Sam" at 37K at that great "soul" of Mad sale Ha had some years ago....great cover and the winner of the mad #30 cover also won that one. Condition is a factor here, its mint...I think for me value wise it 50K, one of Kind...amazing piece. Its currently at 25K with BP.
  12. I agree a lot of last min bids...look art the classic Mad cover #59....its at half price at a minimum
  13. I think clearly it should beat AS8.... I would take the Marvel 1 over it. Marvel 1 is a great book, I own the reprint volume. that marvel did many years ago and an amazing cover. The issue is which would I take Marvel 1 vs Cap 1 SF copy....well I think 20 years from now the Cap#1 will surpass the Marvel #1...for years it was age discrimination in that its 1939 vs a 1941 book in the GA and surely Cap #1 has come a long way but in the earlier days of collecting that made a Difference..to a number of early GA collectors. Of course the Marvel movies has placed Cap above the SM/HT but also the fact of Motion pictures funnies #1, which was their first published appearance might give a slight edge on the very First appearance of Cap. I think both books are classic, and Cap one is a especially great read......Marvel might crack the 1 Mil level first...but I predict that Cap will get to 2 mil first. I might be in the minority but I rank the top 7 Ga books as Action 1, Det 27, Cap#1, Superman1, Batman 1, Whiz#2( very underpriced), and Marvel #1.
  14. I really like the Mad #59 cover and the EC "Destruction of the Earth" 8 page Sc-FI Gem prices are I still think very very low...but wow 25K plus BP minimum for that Thunda page...a good one but wow
