  1. happy birthday....so many classic images
  2. MMS#1 Review I cannot tell you how exciting it is to open a book and get stunned by saying to myself ...I have never seen that before, even thought for over 50 years I have been a true comic book collector. the book starts in 1956....and there are a lot of unique and unknown material that SD did. It really makes you appreciate how his style evolved and how truly he took it to the next level on this material. The colors in this book are fantastic....especially for this volume and this type of material The size and the paper used are a step way up from the original and even the marvel masterwork reprints which I own. But it is the material...fresh, creative,...amazing they could come up with idea after idea, and only comparison would be the EC SF-FI and Horror for sustaining such quality. There are some nice original artwork pages in the back, as well as some 80's stuff in color, but there are mini masterpieces which are finally put in big a format( the originals are big too so no problem) , restored, and printed the way they should be. 5 out of 5 stars on this one. FLAWLESS
  3. Heard from Amazon today it seems that they price match and they lowered the price to $83 dollars plus tax and saved around another 9 bucks, that is the best way when you preorder. I hope to pick it up tonight.
  4. The masterworks were great, the OMB's are even better both size wise for art appreciation and color wise as well as in my opinion superior paper feel. It evolved...now we have having super giant editions too. To me the main thing is restoration and appreciation. I bought some of the very issues and I feel very lucky that Marvel feels the same way I do, these Dikto stories are mini-masterpieces both in terms of story and art...to be lucky to have one Book, let also a complete collection of 2 is Super. To collect all these would be impossible unless you purchased some of original comic books which happen to be high demand. I agree with you on the super big books being released , but OMB's are manageable and yet can really showcase some classics from the past. Thumbs way up, getting my edition tomorrow in the mail.
  5. the real issue would be what would bring more money..9.2 Action 1 or 9.2 Det 27... one vote for A1
  6. In some ways bigger and better than the original with some amazing color added in, the volumes include restoration...you should try one...before it goes out of print
  7. Amazon has shipped one the most wanted books for me related to the SA. The complete Steve Ditko and Stan Lee marvel horror/SF stories restored and in Omnibus size. The final volume, #2 has just been announced at the same price of $100...amazon changed me $97 including tax on Vol #1 which just shipped FYI so I believe the price might be lower when it shipsI. The new volume 2 is going to be released on March 10, 2020 and contains JIM 74-96, ST 92-109, TTA 27-48, TTS 25-49, 46, AAF 7-14, AF 15. I am looking for board opinion to rate once you received Vol #1 in terms of content, quality of restoration, and value...let me know what you think when you get it...I will upon receipt. If it is similar to the past quality I am expecting a real keeper. The note indicate its a "once in a lifetime issue"..meaning there is the possibly that this will be the only OMB printing. Since this is Volume 2...where does the series go from here...Don Heck ? We already have the excellent Monsters Vol #1 and #2 in print for Jack Kirby. Opinions...please
  8. E-Bay is just to risky these days unless you know the seller
  9. impressive....still one the best buys out there especially blue around 2.5
  10. 40 pages of content does that mean incomplete ?
  11. great book, always liked them.
  12. super, never saw that before.
  13. Ha has greater exposure and increased possibilities of a record price as well as a superior website, I would go to CC second as they have a really strong client base.HA, CL. and CC are open to some form of sliding scale on fees. the bottom line is just that....
  14. agreed with you, when you look thru a pulp and happen to see his work its a great supprise. Ha is auctioning off the a lot of his great work including some paintings next week in the Glen Crain collection
  15. Yes, it really started with FF! and by the time it hit #4 we knew something was different as it took 3-1 trading to get an early FF...there was generation ahead of me about 13/15...I was 5...and FF and AF15-Hulk @1 really created a stir among collectors. 6 years old, I keep my collection in a box and would bring the box to other kids who collected but again I knew the 13 year olds and they really wanted FF1 from me...that was a big deal. By the time FF ANN1, which I still can remember buying with my late mother at a drug store in San Bruno Calif....it was amazing and again Marvel and to some extent DC were creating some incredible stuff. I don't think anything created such a stir in the community until the tales from the crypt paperback came out...Where did these come from.....it took me a couple of years to figure out there were from EC comics. At the time, we had a collectors book store which I went in when I was 10..and at the time they were looking for "EC"s" I said what was that...the second paperback book I bought was tales from the incredible...and that was even better...a great time when you had the time...not 200 channels to entertain and movie news was just fading out.
  16. Cap 1 7.5 Blue coming on next signature auction.....should be interesting
  17. FF5 for me, followed by FFI annual #1....when I bought those at the drugstore...I was amazed ...and the contents were read over and over again...30 times at least for FF Ann @1 . A amazing time to be a collector....
  18. strong auction over 9 million in sales. The secret is out on cap one...anything over 750K, I think I predicted like 777K or something like that breaks the 3/4 of a million barrier and 915K is outstanding considering the whole world knows that the late JV has a 9.8 copy which I think based on this sale would crack 1.5 million.
