  1. Works for me BUDDY. I'll make the requisite reservation at Phil's Parking Lot.
  2. I think someone may have gotten him to try some artisanal cottage cheese from Norcal. That stuff is dangerous.
  3. Awesome. Let's debate clone degradation of yogurt cultures and the possible ramifications to humanity.
  4. And I completely agree with yours. Damn...I was hoping for a good fight.
  5. I don't have a problem with the prices per se, although I could quibble. Example: 1993 DC Comics The Batman Adventures #12 1st Appearance of Harley Quinn 9.2 ($423.13 on 6/22/18) This is actually a 6% drop from the 2017 price, rather than a 5.5% increase. And yes, I know 2017 is an average. My issue is with the list. Do you see anything missing? Example: Where's NYX #3? (currently selling for about $314 raw in 9.2 grade) Why is Peter Panzerfaust #1 even on the list? Etc., Etc. Then you could get into the whole raw/slab, grades above 9.2 thing. What use is a list of 9.2 raws when most modern collectors are laser focused on 9.8 slabs? The bottom line, does this REALLY represent The Top 20 Modern Age Comics? Personally, I don't think it does. What are your thoughts?
  6. I've used this trick before...works pretty well.
  7. I kinda enjoy the market reports, even though they're subject to self-interest and hyperbole. What I DO take issue with is the actual data. To me, a list like this doesn't represent reality and is totally useless to me. This is the main reason why I stopped buying the guide. Seriously???
  8. The Comic Book Forum I'd link the thread, but it's in the 'Member's Only' club which isn't visible publicly (you have join to see it).
  9. He's been over on my forum recently. He didn't have a good time (to put it mildly). The regulars posted screen captures of some really disgusting homophobic remarks that he made over on the CBCS board. I'm not easily shocked, but this stuff was horrific. Does he still owe anyone books or money?
  10. Come on guys, there's only 8.1 million copies of that book sold between the five editions.
  11. Back in 2008 he had 88 slabbed, and if he hadn't sold any he would have had 103. Here's the breakdown. We used to tease him about not having anything above 9.6. Update on CGC'd IMSMs...(2008)
  12. Did someone say 'Cal?' Whatever you do, don't say it three times within 24 hours. Oh shoot... Link Yeah, he's going to be difficult to compete with.
  13. Yup. That's the Creep-Engine Case. Your book was encapsulated on 3/30/16, so you got an early one. This isn't unusual, CGC actually started the program in February of that year on a limited basis. I'd get it out of that case and have it re-holdered if I were you. As far as needing a press, you're in the zone at 9.6 so it's possible that it might. On the other hand, your book is only exhibiting mild waviness, so it might relax back to normal once released from that particular holder. Just contact CGC customer service, they'll take care of you.
  14. Alright, here's my pathetic entry. I acquired this when I buying up collections a few years back. 13 copies of Supreme Power #1
  15. Welcome to the boards! (Yeah, I know this is Blowie's job, but I got here first).
  16. Hey, that's a nice feature. And I thought I was so cool having mastered the multi-quote here. You should start an 'Ask Marwood' thread. And then I can ask you such things as "Where the hell did my journal go!!!" Just kidding...Mod8 contacted me yesterday. Respect.
  17. Cool thread Marwood! Here's some suggestions. I don't personally have these books, but I know some of the boardies here do. Maybe they can step up and dig up some scans/pics for the thread. First off, we have something I ran across recently: The Brave and the Bold #93 Variants And then we have the RMA-discovered variants: New Discovery - Superman #50 (1990) 2nd Print Newsstand New Discovery - Robin #1 Mini-Series 2nd Print Newsstand And then, of course, the ever-popular... Batman #457 Second Print Newsstand
  18. Awesome thread! Love it. If you want to see some more examples, here's a good source: Double Digit Multiples Just an example (not my books)... I'll be adding some of the examples in this thread to it. Let's see some more! Keep them coming.
  19. Agreed. And their lack of planning and ability to forecast really came back to bite them during their move to Dallas. If you read their forum or the various 'unofficial' Facebook sites, the natives are more than restless. They claim that almost their entire grading team made the move, yet their customer service group was completely fractured and is being done remotely by one or two people. What the heck were they thinking? The rumor is that Beckett will be picking up customer service in the future, but it seems the transition plan was either nonexistent or went terribly wrong. It's a big mess, and TATs are suffering badly. In the meantime, PGX has been gaining market share. Its customers are unaware of its past, and are attracted to low fees and fast turnarounds. Most of these customers are new to the grading game, and are coming straight out of social media (which is where all the real action is nowadays). I don't think anyone could have predicted this, and it's certainly an interesting turn of events given their reputation. Most of the social media sites say, when the question is asked about grading company selection: CGC - If you want the highest resale value. Bad case, has newton ring problem. Excellent customer service. PGX - If you just want it in a slab quickly. Nice case. CBCS - A CGC me-too product with inferior resale value. Good case. Degraded customer service (most inquiries don't even get a response right now). It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the future.
