  1. old news. We want new pix - deadbeat dad danny not felonious forger danny.
  2. Just ask Johnny Carson who the REAL "king of comics" was back then.
  3. Usually they were melted down and reused. Some have obviously survived - I have an old Nestor Redondo Swamp Thing plate from the early 70s.
  4. Nice old-style tats on the tour guide's forearms. Must be ex-Navy. I also liked the cardigan and pipe on the proofreader near the end of the video.
  5. So why does it cost 3K to bring Danny to justice? Where does the 3K go? How much of your own $ have you put up for this case? Read the earlier posts. Mark is donating his time, the funds are for another shyster who specializes in family law.
  6. Kee-rist BZ...you continue to amaze. interesting (to me, anyway)sidelight - Salinger's long-time lover Joyce Maynard was among the first class of female graduates of Phillips Exeter Academy in NH. She's a well-regarded author, having been a mini-sensation in the mid-1970s writing the highly-regarded, "An Eighteen-Year-Old Looks Back on Life". I believe it was this article that was her entry to Salinger's reclusive life.
  7. I think you are right about the Ohio pedigree: I have seen more off-center wraps with an Ohio pedigree designation than those without any pedigree designation.
  8. I'd think that with your collection, you could call venus anything you want and I'd believe it. By the way, what's going on with the cover on Cap 34? Looks like the registration is WAAAY off. Never seen one that pronounced on any book. very cool.
  9. Well, I suppose I won't have a roof over my head by mid-2010. I will have acquired several hundred double cover comics by then, though. (thumbs u
  10. Just want everyone to know that I ain't got nuthin' in common with this guy. Comicparadox is in no way affiliated with paradoxauctions09. Thanks for the public service announcement.
  11. Yee-Haw! That's the best find I've heard of in a long while. Way to go, Dad!
  12. I think it stands for Private Message. Stan and Jack were really ahead of the communications curve. They were discussing bringing back the "real" Captain America in the next Avengers issue, so they used date codes to one another. Not.
  13. Thanks to Canada's own FAZYBONES for a cool Captain America 155 dbl cover - despite a misrouted book, FAZYBONES and BLOW UP THE MOON were stellar in their efforts to get me the book. Fay was prompt and effective when misdelivery occurred, it was all sorted out and now the book's in my cold clammy hands, where it will stay for a long time. I only feel sorry that there was such concern - I was never worried when FAZY was on the job! Thanks again FAZYBONES and BLOW UP THE MOON!
  14. 2002: comicparadox: 04/09/2002. There's a listing somewhere of the first 10 comics boardies - somebody better with searches than I could find it easily.
  15. Honestly, you'd probably have a hard time finding someone to accept an FF 48 in Fine or below for a Rawhide Kid 17 in VG. Overstreet is way off on Rawhide Kid 17.
  16. drool...slobber...uuuuhhh.... c'n I have it?
  17. Mr. Escape, in the words of the nearly-immortal, nearly-bankrupt Ed McMahon, "You are correct, sir"! Best patriotic cover EVER.
  18. Shiver, I have always known that you were an individual of rare refinement and taste. As I have noted on the Boards previously, this is the best genre-bending cover EVER.
  19. Halperin bought Harvey's file copies, I believe.
  20. Kudos to jkrk for a great book and a wonderful Saturday morning conversation. It's amazing how we agree on almost every facet of collecting, except Jay's books are 10x better than mine!
