  1. Your sister is lovely. Does that mean that you're an insect?
  2. When I was a 'tween, the local 7-11 (2 blocks walk from school) sold packs of 3 backstock comics for 29 cents. Usually there were no DCs but plenty of Marvel and Charlton books. I always looked for the sets without the Charltons, but still ended up with a moderate sized Charlton collection due to the middle book! My best finds included a Conan 1, Avengers Annual 2, Silver Surfer 1, and ultimately a near-complete set of Captain America from 102-127. Strangely, issues 121 and 123 were the hardest for me to find, but issues 102, 105, and 122 were everywhere. Silver Surfer 1 was also a plentiful book - wish I had bought more than 1! It was one of my favorite books, and I literally read the cover off it. There was also a corner grocery store that traded kids comics for coupons - if you brought in cutout coupons from the newspaper and the coupons added up to 12 or 15 cents, you got a comic from the backstock. My friend lived around the corner from that store, and he always got better books than I did, because I only got to go about once a month.
  3. Kudos to Rube11 for some sweet FFs, nicely packaged and promptly sent! Thanks again Steve! (thumbs u JB
  4. Kudos to Joker-Fish for a really cool Flash OA page by Andru/Giordano. It was beautifully professionally framed. It was well-packaged too. Definitely recommend!
  5. Would love to have a copy of this book someday....what a great cover! Thanks to Sacramento's A-1 Comics, I finally got a copy for myself. One of the top 10 bizarre comic covers of all time.
  6. Thanks for sharing these images. Blazing colors - truly the most spectacular Planet books I will likely ever see. Usually the books are washed-out looking, but these are...just stunning.
  7. Thanks to Reality_Consenus and to Susanville for great transactions from the VCC VIII. (thumbs u (thumbs u
  8. Since BronzeBruce started this thread, it's only appropriate that I post KUDOS for an impeccably packaged triiiple cover SA Marvel. I think that this book would have arrived safely even if it had been run over by a Humvee. (thumbs u
  9. Overdue kudos to whomerjay for great stripped cover readers - loved the inside FC letter from the editors at DC apologizing for the price bump from 10cents to 12cents. As if you'd ever see that today!
  10. Kudos to Jeff (telerites) for a smooth transaction on National 28. A pleasure doing business with you, sir!
  11. Thanks to Buck Biggins for a nice book in support of shiverbones!
  12. Overall, I have had significantly better luck collecting from buyers on eBay. Not a joke. That's one reason I try to sell only by PM to people I know at this point. Sales threads just increase the chances I will get another deadbeat. While I agree that selling or buying from known individuals is best, there are times when I want a book from someone I with whom I've not previously interacted. When that happens, I at least always try to ask for or cite prior references before a "big ticket" sale or purchase. While not foolproof, it helps.
  13. Thanks to mr.schomburg for a nice Iron Man 47, from VCC 7.
  14. If I were to choose to spend $41k on a funnybook, I'd choose batman 1. Why? Batman 1. Iconic character. Higher mid-grade book. Wow factor. Silver Streak, the Claw, or the GA Daredevil? Not iconic, at least to the vast majority of CURRENT collectors. Mile High - yes, incredible high grade, but of what title. Hitler - negative Q rating.
  15. I thought I recognized that soldier - it's Sivana Junior!
  16. Not only that, but "injecting small doses of the gas into his bloodstream"...the poor guy is going to have a stroke! Maybe he just hallucinates from oxygen deprivation and thinks that he's flying.
  17. Thanks to drbanner for holding on to a nice HOM 174 for me for several months until I was able to pick it up directly at a local comic convention. Nice book, fairly priced, great service. THANKS!
  18. I'd add Nick Fury Agent of Shield 1, 4 to the list, and concur with the addition of Nick Fury Agent of Shield 7. Steranko rules. And again, thanks for this compilation. Excellent thread.
  19. My favorite is the Supersnipe ski cover. Copy McFadd...sigh.
  20. Kudos right back at'cha, Ralph! Remember, if you ever want to sell that book, I'll be first in line. JB
  21. And he appears to be taking phenytoin, which explains the gingival overgrowth.
  22. (cue Rocky Horror Picture Show music) We tremble with antici... pation!
