  1. What did they go for? They were very little money a few days before auction end. Alien Worlds was one of my favorite titles when I was a kid, so owning some of the original artwork from one of them would have been great. That particular story too was cool, I remember reading it.
  2. I was going to bid on some original art from Alien Worlds #9 by Mike Hoffman, but forgot to sign in to the auction that night Guess I will save my funds for another purchase
  3. Had this book for sometime as it was the first single digit Planet Comics book I purchased. The CGC case was a bit beat up so I sent it in for a clean and reholder. Looks great in the new case
  4. ASM 1-200 is a fun run to chase. Plenty of keys to run after if you are in the mood to purchase a bigger $$ book, ands lots of run filler type books also if that is what your budget entails at that moment.
  5. I love both books and own an 8.0 CGC SSS #6, never owned a CofC #19. I agree with an earlier posters comments that all the beautiful Gaines File Pedigree books have kind of diminished the value of non Gaines books. I no longer own any Gaines file books, but had the pleasure of owning about half a dozen of them over the years, many of which I purchased early in my collecting days as an adult because I loved EC's so much. I should have put those 1.5K to 2.5K purchases in to some low grade blue chip Superhero books back in the day and I would have been way further ahead financially in my collecting. Even if I had purchased some high grade PCH books other than EC's. I still love the EC's but the relative rise in the comic market has far outpaced the Gaines EC books over the last 10 years it seems. I would probably pick the CofC #19 because I have always loved that book and have not owned it yet.
  6. I love collecting runs and have done so for a while. I have shifted to completing runs more in raw state than slabbed though as its much too expensive to collect everything in a slab and sometimes not even feasible if the book itself is only a $10-$50 book in a raw state (or even less). Often I will shorten my runs from a collecting standpoint as it becomes prohibitive for me both storage wise and expenditure of resources (this includes my time). For example my ASM run is only focused on issues #1-200. I have a few later issues, but my interest lies primarily in the first 200 issues for me personally. Although my run has been modified, I would still consider myself a "run" collector. Other runs I will chase the entire thing, but they usually need to fall in the GA-BA time period for me. I collect singles too, but completing the run after many months and/or years of work and searching is what I really enjoy.
  7. This is a pretty fascinating thread with lots of great info. My bottom line take away is know your policy and due your due diligence. Not comic related, but I have had to make a few claims over the years with various insurers. The experience between companies was vastly different, even with similar policies.
  8. I can’t recall when it was, I think I paid $500 or $600 for it back in the day and sold it a few years later for just under 1K. Not cheap at the time, but obviously worth waaay more now. at least I got to enjoy it for a while ?
  9. I owned a high grade copy of this book years ago before the stratospheric rise in prices for cool cover PCH books. It’s one of my hose books I wish I had never sold ?
  10. Wow, what a thread. That Whale Grail must be some heavy duty material ?
  11. Not mine...lol. I do have a cute dog who is no longer a pup (He turns 14 in March) Warmest Regards, Jason Here is my daughter with him on a family trip last Summer.
  12. I agree 100% with that disable live bidding move. Watching those auctions in the past has resulted in my picking up books that were not really on my chase list to start with. I have gotten much more disciplined now with bidding only on books I already have on my interest list and nothing more. I have become boring in my old age...lol
  13. Challenging to find even a decent copy of Planet #15 in my experience. My own copy graded at 3.0, but cosmetically I think the copy that sold at HA looks a bit better. Someone is filling a vacancy in their Planet Comics run
  14. The Planet #15 went for less than I thought it would hammer for
  15. Always an interesting assortment of stuff for sale on CL and other similar sites. Most of it overpriced, but you can find the occaisional key for a reasonable price. My best purchases have been from posting wanted adds for comics. 95% of the calls are for modern filler that the buyer wants a lot for. Another annoyance is someone sending an email like "I have this book, what would you give me for it?" No photos, no details on grade, nothing. Every once in a while you get a decent collection of bronze or silver books, that the seller accepts a fair offer for and you still have some room for sale of said items if you choose to do that. Its a lot of work though, and you realize quickly that selling off non keys in mid grade or lower is not a task for the faint of heart. Like most money making ventures, it is not exclusive of hard work and patience.
  16. Good news for European collectors, comics and otherwise. Being Canadian, it would be fantastic to have a Canadian office location, but the likelihood of that happening is pretty close to zero given the size of Canada and the relatively small population versus the US or most other European countries.
  17. Well, I almost always overpackage. I don’t think it’s too much, but maybe some buyers feel differently?? Lots of tape around the outer box keeps it from ripping and provide a decent level of protection against rain, liquid spills and being dropped in puddles. My $0.02 Jason
  18. Once I have them all back in hand (see post above). I will take some group shots?
  19. No, it was fine. The plastic bag got chewed up a bit somehow in the transit, that’s what you are seeing. Slab is still perfect ?
  20. Well, something did come in the mail today. Technically I have now completed the run. I have sent a number of books down to CGC however for slabbing and a few reholders so the big reveal wont be for a while yet
  21. I have issues 1-9 of those books. Fun to read but not really like a real comic.
