The hardest thing I remember about buying comics in the '40's was making the decision to
spend my dime on this month's BATMAN or SUPERMAN or to pick-up a STUNTMAN #1 or
SUPERBOY #1 or MARVEL FAMILY #1 (I was already getting CAPTAIN MARVEL ADVENTURES
through the mail)...it was a tough world!

Collected from '42 to '54 when I went into the Navy. Started again in the early '70's with my
sons...& now with my Grandson.
Still have most of what I bought in the '40's & '50's...my sons have everything from the '70's.
Most of my books came from Newark, NJ & Scranton,PA.

Going through some stuff and found some catalogs from 1980-81 from the PASSAIC BOOK
CENTER on Main Avenue, Passaic, NJ. There was a period when I bought a lot of books
from there...even went there once. Wondered how many others had the same pleasure of
buying from them.

I'll add #150...the Bat-Signal is great, but the silhouettes of BATMAN & ROBIN are lame.

Still wondering if anyone is interested in STAR HAWKS newspaper strip?

Just got my DETECTIVE #108...graded at 4.0...next I'll submit DETECTIVE #164...
going for a "Bat-Signal" theme.

Around 500 that I collected between 1942 and 1952.
I have two in the process of being graded...Detective #108 (02/46) and All-American #100 (08/46)
Let's see how this works out before I go for my big ones.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask...but is anyone interested in the STAR HAWKS
newspaper strip by Gil Kane & Ron Goulart?
The strip began on October 3rd, 1977.
I have what I believe to be a complete run from 10/3/77 to 5/27/78.
Any interest out there for newspaper strips.

I don't know about the Silver Age copies...but the GOLDEN AGE ones were 15 cents and in
those days I could get better titles for my dime. I did pick-up a few that I still have...#18...
#19...#21...#34...#36...#40...#41...& #42.

How old are Comic Collectors?

It was in the mid to late '60's that I first realized my cardboard boxes of comics in the
garage were worth more than the dime I paid for them...their value to me were the hours
of escapism reading pleasure they provided me.
