  1. I am sure he is. But, as others have stated there are record prices that are being paid for books that are outside the range of where a stimulus check will cover it. As quite a few of us have said, we did not get a stimulus check. (I mean proportionally to the cost of living here in NY several of us probably should have received it but we did not). So are there people that are getting it and spending it on comics? I am sure there are. I watched people celebrate buying GI Joes with their check as a consolation for being out of work. (Just a stupid move but... whatevs). We keep marveling and dropping jaws though as books in that $5000 range. The guy that is buying that Hulk 181. If the dealer has a mid to high grade, is that $600 check driving that sale? The guy who spent north of $32k on the AF15 in 4.0 this week at Comiclink spent what could be considered a high sale for this time period. Eleven copies in grade sold from 2019 and 2020 between $22,000 to $30,000. The four books that sold in 2020 were between $20,000-$23,000. An almost $10,000 jump from 2020 is not being driven by a $600 stimulus check. If you have $32k to spend on a comic it is very likely that you do not even qualify for one to begin with.
  2. This has been my favorite... I mean the Sopranos were 'comic' al...
  3. All you had to do was ask...
  4. Not necessarily. We have always seen a strong competition for books that are tough to find or in high demand. As we have seen with the comic book collecting community you can throw supply and demand models out the window on many books such as Hulk 181 and ASM 300 and NM 98. In times like these, (not only do I miss live music), but I and quite a few of my friends are doing just fine. Except for working from home, this has actually been saving me money. I am putting money into other things. So for something that I wanted this morning I made a lowball offer and it was accepted after seeing the seller's ad. However, there was something I wanted a recently that does not frequently come up for sale. I bid strongly and I believe the price realized an incredibly strong price in proportion to what it usually goes for. There are a number of others out there as well. We are seeing books go for amounts that no stimulus check is going to cover. The collector that bought the Batman 1 in a 9.4 is NOT receiving a stimulus check. Whoever paid what they did for some of those ASM in the CLink auction two nights ago is doing pretty well and is not receiving a stimulus check.
  5. It has little to do with a stimulus check as the majority of Americans have absolutely nothing to do with comic books or collectibles. However, those that collect comics and other collectibles may have been hit pretty hard by being out of work and are cashing in. Keep in mind that you are not just seeing higher prices realized on the usual books. I have seen a lot of books enter the marketplace in the last year that I do not usually see. I am of the firm belief that some are cashing in because of the current market and I am also of the firm belief that some are cashing in because they have to.
  6. Was this headed to Florida? - meaning was the buyer / comic shop located in Florida?
  7. @Tnexus @awakeintheashes Lucasfilm retained the rights to merchandising of all of its characters that were created for the novels and comics. On the back of the first Mara Jade and Thrawn action figures introduced in 1998, the TM, licensing and all other legal information as well as property of were all the same as other figures. I think it is safe to say that Lucasfilm retains any and all ownership of any Star Wars concept and character that was created for use within the context of its shared universe. All of these authors are merely works for hire and while they may create characters, those characters are created for the use of Lucasfilm. Lucasfilm owns all of the created Dark Horse Star Wars characters as well. This is why a character like Aayla Secura, who was created for the comics was seized / used by Lucas for inclusion in Attack of the Clones and then licensed out to Hasbro and other companies to makes toys and other projects. Aayla secura does not have a separate credit line in AotC or RotS crediting artist Jan Duursema and writer John Ostrander. Ayala was owned outright by Lucasfilm and now Disney. There is no reason to believe that Thrawn and Mara Jade were not also owned outright by Lucasfilm and now Disney.
  8. It makes me regret purchasing a paid membership to be honest. So I am figuring that I need to send books out now so I receive my credit.
  9. Yay... I miss this... it’s not as clean and perfect as the one I sold... but I’m happy to have one back into my possession. I think I am going to purchase a set of repro stickers for this as the other side is kind of rough.
  10. Are the turnaround times faster or slower than the board software?
  11. Actually it is a big difference because then they would have to edit the cut into episodes rather than one full length feature. They would have to edit and structure the cut to have 'breaks' at certain time intervals. Hopefully it IS one long movie so when there is a natural break in the final cut I can get up and go to the bathroom, or make a call or run an errand if I have to.
  12. Meanwhile... Sabine Wren was last seen with Ahsoka as they prepared to venture off to find Ezra. Ezra was last seen dragged off with Thrawn. Ahsoka is currently looking for Thrawn. We may see Sabine Wren... we may also see 'The Ghost', (which I hope we do as I REALLY want a Haslab Ghost... I passed on the Razor Crest but I would get the Ghost) I never realized how many instances they snuck the Ghost into a Rogue One battle scene.
  13. It's possible that Stark set up SWORD to replace SHIELD or to be activated in the event he died which is why the colors are the way that they are. I am guessing that she has been captured and is being studied and they are trying to wake her up or call her out of whatever reality she created for herself. It's interesting... but unless it picks up, it's not something I am planning on setting my alarm clock to or waking up super early on a Friday to see like I did with the Mandalorian.
  14. Many thanks to @mr_highgrade for the Din Djarin figure. It really was a generous gesture that is very much appreciated.
  15. I was really really really hoping that Oscar Isaac would remain cast as Spider-man 2099...
  16. Did you ever see the real version of what she is actually reacting to? It is VERY impressive. Watch the part where Michelle actually 'catches' the lightsaber. The prop she is a full size Hasbro Force FX lightsaber. That this is no light piece of prop.
  17. I rarely tweet so it will most likely not gain any traction. However if it does happen then at least everyone here at 'home' on the CGC boards knows...
  18. Ehhh not so quick with GI Joe. I have always strongly recommended people staying away from AFA graded Joe figures and my hesitations have been supported over the last couple of years. We are now almost 40 years from when those first few figures were introduced. Sure, the cards are stronger than SW and the bubbles seem to be as well. The figures are drying up and cracking and breaking on the card due to their design. I keep seeing more and more heartbreak and some butthurt in the Joe FB collector groups. Usually I see popped rubber bands, jumble of parts on the card and this past year more people were posting pics of AFA graded figures that had developed cracked elbows as well as broken figures MOC graded by AFA.
  19. I just got out of bed to come to the computer to type this... It's a 'lazy Saturday' what can I say... So I am sitting there reading the news... reading who is reporting things... and I say that perhaps people are 'missing it.' "Buzzetta, what are you talking about?" The current 'buzz', (no pun intended) is that Chris Evans is in talks to resume a role in the Marvel Universe. Everyone just assumes it is as Captain America. What if he is going to cameo as Johnny Storm in the Spider-man or Dr Strange movie? So while he can readily say, "news to me", in regard to his return as Captain America, he might be telling the truth. What if he is just doing a one off cameo as Johnny Storm in either the Dr Strange Multiverse of Madness or the Spider-man 3 movie? Which... when they get back in either film gives them cause to find the MCU dimension's (Disney) version of the FF?
  20. I just got done streaming Hamilton for a group of people... Disney has not picked up on the whole screen share your disney+ account and stream it in a closed group thing yet. I am rebroadcasting Mandalorian on Mondays and Thursdays heh heh. Should I watch Wandavision tonight ... save it for Sunday... or... is it something that I should wait on and binge when they are all released?
  21. Maybe it is regional... I received an email that they were back in stock at 10:45am and it was gone when I noticed the email and visited the site around noon. I checked again twice throughout the day and they were still not available.
  22. I should have clarified as my post was poorly worded. What are they in terms of presenting the comic character? Because at that point books that show a house advertisement of an upcoming character should be more desirable than the 1st actual published tale of that character.
  23. But what are these Star Wars insider magazines? Are they showing the design sheet or do they feature the character in a short adventure or something? Is there an actual story?
