  1. One of the most "oooffa" comments on these boards was in the comic book dealer basketball game. After seeing video of Doug play, someone remarked along the lines of how easy it seemed for him to steal the ball. Can someone find that one?
  2. I am pretty sure the books were sold by his wife to help assist him in a time of need. I think a board member helped her out.
  3. He does have a few people there that I believe are on my personal list as well... No matter what Cal says or does, a deadbeat buyer for one is usually a deadbeat buyer for more.
  4. You cannot even go by this right now. I have RECEIVED packages that still say that they are in transit. In one instance it was received on 12/24. So call me jaded but I wonder how many buyers are going to try and take advantage of claiming that they did not receive packages that they actually received. I am only waiting for one item now that was ordered before Christmas.
  5. Google reveals all... there was a guy who came here complaining about him I think. Then I went to check out what the guy actually sells and was star struck because it had a lot of interesting stuff. I apparently noticed the lunchbox I had when I was in kindergarten in his listings but wound up buying it in better condition from someone else. Now I am trying to track down the complaint which would have been around April 13th.
  6. Forget it... He is on my 'saved' sellers list. I have not business with him "yet" But he always has an eclectic assortment of items.
  7. I am not particularly sure but Toyscout1 rang a bell from toy collecting. With over 150,000+ feedback on eBay, he offers a lot of things outside of comics. I just took a look at his listings and he has older comics as well as model trains, windups and things like that. For the life of me, I cannot remember what incident I know that name from but it instantly stood out. I have not done business with him as far as I remember but that was not due to avoidance. Maybe someone else can jog my memory.
  8. I remember him and recognized him as a former board member. The one that caught my eye was ToyScout1
  9. So you don't want my Nick Fury 1 signed by Steranko? Just making sure...
  10. I specifically got up around 3:30 to jump start my day... here I find myself answering perhaps the best question so far of 2021. Alas, the year is young but it is off to a bright start and we are not even done with the first week. Before there were, "Dylan threads" there were "Cal threads". Dylan my friend, I want you to get real comfortable. Sit back in your chair. Turn off your cell phone. Cancel all appointments. Pour yourself a beverage of choice. Let me take you down a spotty memory lane. Why do I say spotty? Because many of the best "Cal threads" have been deleted. Okay between reading and laughing and putting this together, I just wasted a half hour. Enjoy. There was the time that Cal wanted to buy the CGC Boards. There was the time that Cal interviewed himself. Somehow this is not locked... There was the time that Cal found about people telling someone else not to buy from Cal. (Which to be fair, was kind of unjustified and not grounded but it still erupted into a 40 page thread (20 page under the current format) There was the time when someone made it on the list: Haterz gonna hate Then there was the time that Cal Sued eBay... I could only find small references to this. Hopefully Cal will fill in the blanks. Then there was the time that people did not know Cal...
  11. Hey... wanted to let you know. Cal stopped by for a visit @porcupine48
  12. My. MyComicShop.com preorder just arrived... told some of you I liked this cover. Not for sale.
  13. After all the stories of things like this, lost books, damaged books, "accidentally" swapped books... I cannot help but wonder if they are trying to screw people over or if it is just incompetence.
  14. I'm not going to lie. I miss a good Cal thread. So many have been deleted over the years that the youngins have not had a taste of the true history of the boards.
  15. You really need to put restored or trimmed in the title. You have to realize that the majority of people do not read, they want things spoon-fed to them and do not realize the accountability of their actions until it is too late. As far as naming people by their eBay handle... You also need to come up with fun responses like this:
  16. No, that is common. That was not going to get a high grade anyway so they will normally lower the grade slightly and then write in the notes what is clearly on the cover. The only outlier I see on this is that they identified, "Chris Claremont" which is something they normally do not do. They will normally identify the name if it is clearly spelled out on the front cover and then "name signed" (or something like that) for signatures not so easily spelled out. The cover should say: 6.5 "Dave Cockrum" and "Name Signed" in marker on the cover.
  17. I had posted that before... and deleted it. The directors cut was clearly marked, "Directors Cut" under the title.
  18. She did. It happened right after he was about to beat a teenager for rushing in front of him at comic con.
  19. Yup... once you announce lawsuit... there is a good chance that this thread disappears.
  20. And this is why kids, you never send your book to Desert Wind... The OP is not the first nor the last to have experiences like this.
  21. Don't know how many times I have to say it. If you want to giggle, go back and read Cal's post in the voice of Ric Flair.
