  1. Never said they were super popular. I said they were an 80's band. Besides if they had reached a single number one hit, Morrissey would not have had something to whine about. In my basement by the laundry room... Agree with, "TBWTTIHS"
  2. He just asked me about a window that looked new. Shrugged and said it's the same window that was there when I took possession of the house. I want to replace the two windows on the detached garage. They are the originals from the 30's with a weight and pulley system. He told me that they will fall under the a general permit not the building proper permit. I cannot easily dispose of those two windows and they would have to picked up given how weak the frames are and they style glass that is in them.
  3. I bought up a bunch of SW5s at around $10-$15 each for that reason.
  4. I did wind up buying a 1st Cad Bane thanks to this thread. I was surprised that he never made it to a Dark Horse book and that he first appears in a Marvel one.
  5. You are confusing what I need a permit for and what they need permission to do. So again, for example, where I live I did not need a permit to get the roof done. However, I did need a permit to get the 30 yard dumpster, (remember when you were wrong about that too). I did have a village inspector stop in front of the house and make a phone call from his car, (I was outside at the time watching people run around my roof) presumably to verify that a permit had been issued for the dumpster. He was not going to walk up to the front steps to verify it was in the window. And yes, they drive up in their village car and if there is evidence that you are engaged in activity that you are not allowed to do they can shut you down. I live here. You do not.
  6. You would just get fined and fined and fined... and then land yourself in trouble that you could not worm your way out of.
  7. I've heard a lot of tales of what was found when they tore up the abandoned warehouses and adjoining area to make way for the condos and buildings along the waterfront in Williamsburg and Greenpoint Brooklyn. What was lost... was found.
  8. It depends on what the state code either explicitly prohibits or allows in relation to what the village code explicitly prohibits or allows or adds on to. So, like I said, mom and dad did not need a permit to get their bathroom done. I needed a permit to get my bathroom done. We both live in Nassau County. We both live in New York State. They can put their trash pails out earlier than I can. I have a clear time frame when I can put them out the night before and by what time the empty pails must be taken in. They can get their windows replaced without a permit. I am supposed to get a permit. Your contractor is most likely correct in relation to your local codes. They are not the same as my village code.
  9. Your contractor is not bound by my village code. So what he told you is useful to you but meaningless to me. My parents are within walking distance but outside village jurisdiction. They have far more freedom than I do. They can put up new sheetrock without a permit. When my neighbor did it, he was busted for not getting a permit as they were driving around and saw them cutting the boards outside and the garbage. They stopped work in the house and he had a bare bones living room from the end of November to the beginning of January so they could do the step by step inspection. Me? When I had to redo a room, I did the demo at night from 8-2am, bagged all of the garbage and stored it in the garage, and slept at my parent's. When it came to garbage removal of stucco wall debris, I brought those bags to my parent's house and when I would go pick up a pizza or something I would drop off a bag in the dumpster when I went to pick up a pie. It's amazing how fast and easy you can get rid of garbage you don't want people to see.
  10. I was having the portico rebuilt after the roof was done. Whether or not I need a permit for that is kind of a gray area. Anything to do with construction you need a permit which costs the permit fee as well as a $500 bond. However, replacing a roof does not require a permit or a bond. The portico was obviously connected to the roof so there is that gray area of whether or not it requires a permit and bond or not. For example, you are required to obtain a permit if you are installing new sheet rock in a home or doing plumbing work (bathroom). Now, the bathroom was completed in June and I still have not received my $500 back from the village. The roof was done before Christmas and the replacement of the portico was done today. All of a sudden he was going to put up a new railing when he realized that he left the mounting brackets so the railing goes up tomorrow. Which is wonderful because he decided to call it a day at 3. The town called me up and said they *might* send a guy over to finally inspect that the bathroom was completed sometimes between 4-5 as I have asked them to do so for the past two months. Whether or not the village inspector actually shows up is a different story... but it makes things a lot easier if the contractor is not here when the inspector arrives.
  11. This is hitting you hard that you wasn't hip to the Smiths when so many others were when they were releasing music, when they were a band, before they broke up never to play again, while they were on the charts in both the US and England... in the 80's.
  12. BTW: History of Live Performances by the Smiths The Smiths - Discography - In 1987 after the band broke up they released a compilation of singles called 'Louder than Bombs'... everything else after that was, "Reissue, repackage repackage." If you feel that compilation albums mark the decade that a band is earmarked in then I guess the Beatles are a 2009 band because I loved me that remastered box set.
  13. But... you are wrong here... so most likely don't mean diddly. Just because you are not aware of the truth, does not make something untrue.
  14. They also released albums in the 1980's went on hiatus after Live Aid and touring in 86 and then released their last single, "Don't Stand so Close to Me 86 Remix" in... 1986. Despite a reunion tour in 2007, (shout out to traveling to Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall to see it) Yeah... I would say the Police were an 80's band. The Smiths were not a 90's band. No new music was created and no albums were released except for a few compilations of greatest hits to jump on the Morrissey solo career bandwagon. @Get Marwood & I... Get a load of Kav ovah heeeer.....
  15. One of the reasons I am holding onto my UF4s is because I agree with you that the multiverse will allow for them to drop characters back into the Marvel Universe. (like Miles) I would not be shocked to see that they offer Evan Peters a contract to drop into the Marvel Universe once Spider-man 3 does it's thing... If not the Evan Peters quicksilver then perhaps someone else from the X-Men Fox franchise.
  16. I thought 42 was first Yoda... see now that it is a cameo...
  17. What's the deal with SW 41 original marvel? I've been picking up some SW books here and there.
  18. They had mentioned at the time that they were not allowed to even allude to them being mutants due to FOX retaining the rights to that. I would not be surprised though if they now reveal / retcon that the infinity stone awoke their latent mutant powers rather than gift them with those powers.
  19. And total refund. Kind of disappointing as by purchasing these books through this seller, I decided not to buy them from another seller and since then those books have sold and have now increased in value. Cannot win them all but at least I have a total refund.
