  1. $16.99 on Amazon? I don't know anything about Overwatch... but I do know that this winter I want to design a compact spaceport on a 32 x 32 baseplate... This will fit in somewhere... bought a second one to hopefully offer in a contest I want to run. To me it is a bounty hunter hamster and his wrecking ball / mech / spaceship. Too cool...
  2. I messed up my math... I thought an auction would end in time to capitalize on the eBay 8% offer. I read it wrong and it ended the day after. I won. Still happy to take home a vintage MOC R2-D2 though... No, not the $700 one that sold tonight.... The $160 one.
  3. One guy says he does not want to get involved in yet another social media platform as an active participant. Another guy took a look around and said 'not for him.' In both cases I have posted a few questions for them or negotiated some 'buys'. As far as 'groups'. They exist but not in the way that some people would like others to believe. And even if they did? Who cares?
  4. Two close friends of mine are board members. However, they are amongst what I am sure are quite a few board members that check in frequently but do not participate on the discussion end. They read, they monitor the boards, they will occasionally claim something in the sales threads.
  5. He took it because he realized his shame.
  6. Because the umpires are no longer calling strikes... Have at it and post your basketball comics.
  7. I got it under control... I think... As of now I am still good... Overwhelmed but good.
  8. 3,903 days to go. Last year when asked about my opinion on something and I gave it backed with evidence, let's just say the response was a step above heated. Flash forward a year. Today I attended a meeting where we were told we are moving toward adopting that policy. smh Let's not even get into the guy who accidentally let it slip that he is getting paid extra after hours to sit around and do nothing or do the work that he should already be doing during normal work hours when they told someone else who is doing extra things for free that there is no money.
  9. I went to claim a book off a Facebook post and someone beat me to it. Came to shop the forum. But I really have to get some work done and get to bed.
  10. You just want Greggy's box. Wait... I don't think that sounds right...
  11. I am doing some shopping right now. I already picked up something yesterday that is kind of fun while taking advantage of a sale and eBay bucks... 16 People were watching something at $500 on eBay. The seller sent out an offer to interested parties for $400. I asked if he would do $350 + Shipping and he agreed. It's not a comic but it is related...
  12. If only @PeteFromPetesBasement could be convinced to do the live drawing from his Comic Show. heh heh. I would probably stop by in some capacity.
  13. Oh I am not asking you to. I am wrong then. I thought we were talking about the alleged "ripping off" of a character and not so much the 'ripping off' of the movie making process itself or the procedure of the storyline. That's why I used the Darkseid / Thanos comparison.
  14. While I appreciate the vote of confidence I have way too much going on right now and for the foreseeable future. I STILL have not even sent my books out to Florida. I've just been concentrating on clearing out more stuff and getting things done while swamped with nonsense.
  15. I think where you are both wrong is that it is not so much that they are going to compare it to a Marvel movie but that they will compare the characters to what has come before it. Even DC admitted that the danger in introducing Darkseid was that moviegoers would compare him to Thanos even though Darkseid came first in the comics. Once in awhile I reread my Eternal Warrior books. Outside of Spider-man which I am a one and done comic reader, I only saved the Eternal Warrior run. A lot of stories still hold up well. In fact if you search eBay, I was the guy that just picked up the Eternal Warrior 11 slab for $5 and change. That was the first EW book I ever bought... then I went back and got everything and continued with everything moving forward. As much as I enjoy the character I look at the title as a Highlander based comic character (Yes I know about Vandal Savage but I felt EW was closer to Highlander.) Instead of fighting for the prize of mortality, EW fought for the Earth. Either case they were virtuous characters looking to protect innocents (especially as the Highlander films morphed into the TV show). In any event, people are going to compare new things to what they are most acquainted with that was introduced beforehand. Once they bring out ANY character in a suit of armor, your movie audience is going to compare it to Iron Man. I don't think so much that is anything to do with this being a Marvel heavy forum but that Marvel has made the biggest impact in the superhero genre with the largest cast of characters. If anyone introduced anything close to an Alien God Character in a cape they will automatically compare it to Superman. It's just the way it is.
  16. I don't mind. I get a laugh out of it to tell the truth. I just logged on and saw eight notifications so I right clicked and opened a new tab on each. My time is a limited one for the next couple of months maybe but the tags allow me to make the most of it. Funny thing is that I made mention of my board name to a certain dealer at NYCC and they raised an eyebrow as to why all the name drops thinking that this is trolling. I explained that I actually asked for this and like to keep on top of things adding that it's a fun way to know where the more 'interesting' things are going on. So... carry on. @Buzzetta
  17. My Lord she was a big woman. She was fat! I ever tell you how fat she was? She was so fat people used to run around her for exercise... that's how fat she was. I tell ya.
  18. Comics are not cards so the adoption of what constitutes a certain grade are vastly different despite being on a scale of 1-10. Keep in mind that prior to Beckett taking on CBCS, that card grading had nothing to do with comic grading. Now, I do not believe that Beckett is changing any of CBCS' grading policies so I want to make mention of that right away. When you grade a comic book there are so many characteristics that can be assessed from the exterior as well as the interior. Based on the nature of what a card actually is, grading companies can only account for the exterior characteristics of a card both front and back. In order to determine what is better than another they decided that centering is a part of the card's grade. When a sheet of cards is struck, especially on the older printers, there is a certain amount of wiggle room when it passes through the printer so that it may make its way down the assembly line in a fluid fashion. Because of this, if the card wiggles a certain way there is the chance that the card can be terribly misstruck and the card can be terribly off center. This means that the picture as well as the states or info can be cut off to a certain degree. As @Junkdrawer said, in cards, not all 7.0 are created equal. The sharpness and other immediate physical structures of the card are immediately considered in a card's grade. After that, they start looking at centering as one of the possible qualifiers to make note of. Now, keep in mind that CGC does this as well with certain characteristics of a book. They will give a book a universal grade and note a manufacturing error. Take a look at the Roberto Clemente graded card I have attached. PSA gave the card an immediate 8 with a miscut designation. The older Beckett grade is included and they assigned it a 4 with a breakdown of the grades. The edges and corner of the card is an 8. The surface is rated an 8.5. The centering is rated a 2. The overall card is graded at a 7. In a way that is kind of nice as they show the grading between the companies is actually fairly consistent. Basically the card is essentially an 8 where PSA designates it at an 8 with a MC qualifier (Miscut) and Beckett says that the Miscut brings the card down to a four by looking at the qualifiers. If this gets you confused wait until you see Toy Grading. I have a POTF Luke Jedi Mint on Card with the coin. The card was a 60, the bubble was a 75, the figure is an 85. It's rated as an AFA 60.
