  1. Job's legacy is a complicated one. On one hand he is a very driven person with a deeply rooted vision. On another, yes, he was definitely a jerk. It is interesting to me that someone who was so obviously inspired by Star Trek frowned upon comic books.
  2. Not a single drop of alcohol was consumed and I feel drunk on food. If I go to play foodie I like to go in the middle of the week when it’s not wall to wall people and you don’t have to worry about people crashing into you spilling a container of calamari and marinara on yourself. Did a tour of street food of fried calamari, baked clams, mozzarella sticks, (which there are “mozzarella sticks” like those found in a diner and then there are mozzarella sticks), the mandatory sausage and pepper and then we went to Ferrara for cappuccino and cannoli. The danger of commuting through the city every day is that ALL of this is always on the way home. What was going to be, “Let’s get off the subway and grab a bite and head home.” Turned into a few hour long food binge.
  3. I already have two of those three...
  4. There are a couple of DMB songs that I like but they are usually live and featuring guest appearances with other artists. That 30 minute #41 comes to mind as they performed in Ottowa for that song with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones... That turned out to be more of Bela Fleck featuring Dave Matthews thing than a DMB featuring Bela Fleck thing.
  5. To be fair, I was VERY impressed by the current incarnation of Dead and Company. I never appreciated the musicianship of John Mayer until I saw his performances with the band. Each concert is basically a masterclass in how to play guitar. Mayer is quite skilled and someone I should not have so easily dismissed when he was getting popular.
  6. Maybe I should type slower for you so you can understand. Like I responded once before. When I arrived here some people PM'd me and offered me private advice on how to navigate my way around here. I thought that was acceptable. Apparently with some it is not. I realize that now. But at least we know where we stand with one another. Maybe one day that will change but for now,
  7. You should have read my response the last time you mentioned that where I said that I probably should have kept my mouth shut. However if I was going to continue doing that, then for instance, when someone has complained about your passive aggressive snark. I try to tell them that you are just busting balls, but perhaps they might be right. Works both ways Casey... you know the phrase... check yo'self...
  8. If the back cover is in substantially better shape then that has a possibility to get that '8'
  9. Wait until I post my NFL Convicted Felon Autograph Collection up for sale in a few years. It will look like a steal.
  10. A couple of weeks ago a quick phone call turned into a 45 minute side conversation as to what it is like living where I do and doing what I do for a living. I entertained it as I was making dinner as I found it interesting. I learned a lot about what life is like in the Philippines. It was interesting.
  11. I don't know if it is voluntary. Very few times over the years have I seen the mods facepalm a post. Actually... I don't ever remember a time when a mod facepalmed a post.
  12. There are many different forms of education. Sometimes we learn a lesson. Other times we are the lesson.
  13. I believe that CC is currently on vacation learning the value of continuing his education.
  14. Don’t see anything... What are we talking about here ?
  15. His dedication to his workout regime is impressive. Maybe it's more of an Andrew Luck thing and he was tired of the recuperation process after finishing one of these films. The older you get the more your aches and pains and recuperation time reminds you how old you are no matter what shape you are in.
  16. I have thought about this and the best answer I can come up with is the following. By 1963 how many superheroes in mainstream comics were people of color? According to my quick google research, the first is Black Panther in 1966. I don't think society was just "there" yet. I then looked up the Star Trek kiss from 1968 and according to Nichelle Nichols, NBC was nervous about airing an interracial kiss on their network worrying about the response from the Deep South. It was a different time and a time period that was already wound too tight. Marvel was a fledgling company trying to make a return to comics as the dawn of the Marvel Silver age was only a couple of years old... Who knows if their execs wanted to risk it at that point.
  17. $70 still doesn't bother me. I have the LIRR pass so it is just another ride into the city as far as I am concerned and nothing extra out of my pocket. I have given up on finding comic deals. I will go and hopefully commission a sketch, or buy a page of art or do some toy hunting. I mostly go to walk around and get Halloween costume ideas . Occasionally though I run into a Golden Age book I cannot pass up on or another key that I enjoy. I stand by what I said a few months ago. I am not selling off my collection but I refuse to simply buy stuff for the sake of buying more.
