  1. Industry Pro 4 Day pass came to $70. I think I remember paying around $30 a few years ago. Don’t know if I would go for all four days if I had to pay full price.
  2. There is nothing more I would like to see than Hugh Jackman return to the role of Wolverine. He embraced and championed the role like few do. However, I fear that at his age, like he says himself that he can no longer snap into the shape it takes for the role.
  3. The very creation of the X-Men were that they were a metaphor for people of color. https://www.history.com/news/stan-lee-x-men-civil-rights-inspiration
  4. Name of the seller? also is it the exact same one? Or is it one that is in a lower grade of shape or a higher grade?
  5. To clarify to those that have no idea what we are talking about, by soundbites you mean 'snoring'.
  6. If this was the Spider-Man franchise then I would agree as it would be nice not to see the Green Goblin every film. Every character has its core traits that individualize them from other characters. For Captain America that is being a man out of time bringing the virtue of yesteryear into today. For Spider-Man it’s about how with great power must come great responsibility even if you are the ‘little guy’ X-Men has always been about the oppression of a group of people due to the way they are born and how they should react to that oppression. I don’t think you can have a Professor X without a Magneto. To paraphrase Mike Francesca (NY sports guys will get this.) When the X-Men don’t have Magneto they are the Avengers but when they do have Magneto they are the X-Men. Then suddenly fall asleep with a Diet Coke in hand.
  7. I think Marvel is doing a pretty good job honoring his legacy. Over the weekend I caught up with ASM and smiled to see a Stan's soapbox republished in the issues.
  8. Rogue One was really good... I think you would like it.
  9. When it comes to Wolverine, Magneto and Professor X I agree with you. I was surprised how well Fox cast those movies and then recast those roles starting with First Class. Fassbender may "cringe" in having played Magneto but I thought he was phenomenal. The others? If not for IMDB, I forget who played most of the other roles or they are also easily replaceable. To those that hated Hugh Jackman though? I don't know if Disney is capable of finding someone that can do what Jackman did from 2000-2017. In fact I challenge Disney to find someone that can get into shape like that for a movie and cheerfully do it. I think the Jackman fans are in for a rude awakening as I do not believe there will ever be another actor like Jackman in a comic movie again. Even RDJ tapped out after 12 years.
  10. As a seller I leave positive feedback almost immediately once a buyer pays for something. As a buyer I leave positive feedback once I receive.
  11. That actually happened to a board member here once. I don't want to say who unless he wants to jump in. He had a book for say $500 and someone offered $550. He shrugged and accepted and the person paid. There was no conversation about it or anything between buyer and seller. He couldn't believe this happened so he called me up and asked if I could make an offer on one of his items that was higher than the list price just to see if it was a one off thing or if it could happen again. My over the asking price offer was successfully submitted. So... it can happen and I know of one case where I was woken up to see if it was for real.
  12. He said had I been there earlier he had a LOT more. But he conceded that he came down here to blow stuff out as it's not really a decent flea market. There are a lot of broken and rusty tools at this thing and wrestling figures melting away in the hot sun. I felt horrendous as we were talking and a gust of wind knocked over his loose vintage death star in the box.
  13. I gambled on the skylinx as I did not know off hand what to look for whether it was the Encore / Reissue or original. Thankfully it is original.
  14. When left in the sun for any period of time they show the allegiance symbol due to the transfer of the direct heat and light waves. So in the picture of the turquoise looking transformer you can see what looks like a hologram foil symbol. Since it has been in my house for some time since I bought it, the symbol has reverted back to black.
  15. This might be the one thread on these boards that will render you clueless A rubsign refers to the dark sticker on a transformer that when swiped with your finger shows the figure's allegiance to either the Autobots or the Decepticons in a hologram like foil image. Hasbro added them in the mid 80's to help distinguish their products from knock offs.
  16. You are a terrible influence... I went back as he was closing up. Still couldn’t do the boxed Star Wars. Just don’t want to devote the space to keeping them mint. House and its appearance are more important to me. $140 for these... one might appear on eBay in a month or two... unsure... For now they are keepers Skylinx has some minor degradation on his rubber tire but the battery box is clean.
  17. I am debating going back and picking up another headmaster. The problem is that it's $35-$40 thrown away because it's not going anywhere... maybe Chromedome or Skullcrusher.
  18. It wasn't bad. The movie had quite a few fun spots. I actually still ranked it higher than Force Awakens. Current Rankings Empire Strikes Back A New Hope Return of the Jedi Revenge of the Sith Rogue One Last Jedi Solo: A Star Wars Story Phantom Menace Attack of the Clones Force Awakens On some days, Rogue One actually gets booted up to the 4 spot. I really liked that movie.
  19. My personal favorite is something like this. GPA says $100 I have it priced at $115 Offer comes in at $40 with the message. If you do $40 with free shipping, I will pay you tonight so you have the money immediately. I will either ignore it or if I am feeling cheeky*, I will respond with, "That is acceptable, but who will be paying the other $65 and when will they be paying?" * It's nice to make the British here on the boards feel as if we understand them.
  20. @dena @Architecht Is it possible to open this thread up to allow edits dating back to a few years ago? Since the migration from the old boards as well as the hot mess that Photobucket has become, it would be nice to update some pics in the older posts within this thread.
  21. Once every 3-4 weeks I will venture to the Bellmore Train Station Flea Market on Long Island. This is the first time I brought something like this home in a VERY long time. Most stuff is usually overpriced. I was pleased to regain one of my childhood toys for $35. The figure was clean with very little wear. The plastic was still bright and it was complete with tight joints except for the wings. There were other headmasters but I am trying to downsize and there wasn't anything else I had an attachment to. Guy had a lot of boxed Star Wars and I debated buying it out to flip as the prices would have made sense to make a little money. Then I realized, I do not have the ability to safely store boxed Star Wars vehicles. Either way... Brainwave is probably the final purchase I am making before NYCC... Let's see what happens there. EDIT: Before anyone says anything about the rubsign... this is an open air flea market and it was out in the sun all day.
  22. So far I keep looking and everything seems to end with NBC.
  23. That would definitely work. I feel that the human misery factor is what twists Magneto. He needs to feel as if humankind is evil as he has witnessed firsthand the evil that man is capable of. Once he finds out that he is not of humankind then he can see himself as the future and humans as what is holding him back.
