  1. Seems to be an epidemic of people having items sent to "wrong addresses" "invalid addresses" or "insufficient addresses" or simply claiming they did not receive their item. Print those labels off eBay and PayPal as they will keep sellers safe from such problems. When I first got here @mschmidt called me a luddite (yes I remember this from almost 8 years ago ) as I liked to do everything by hand. He explained himself and I embraced it back then. He was never more right in calling me out for handwriting everything at the time and I adopted printing labels within a couple of months of that conversation and never looked back. Thank you Mike
  2. Explain this please... Has the world gone crazy? Hope the buyer actually pays $1600 for this book. It's not even over. Two ASM 252's Old Label White sitting at $550 New Label OW-White sitting at $1600 Did someone accidentally slab cocaine with the $1600 book and the buyer wants to get it back?
  3. Not exactly a meme... but this is straight up evil
  4. With the way it has been raining on Long Island in the last few months, I cringe as soon as a sentence begins with The postman left it out.
  5. Does this mean you want me to get shipping quotes for freight from here to Vegas?
  6. When I don’t have a BIN on an item and someone says, “What’s the lowest you’ll go?”, then why is it poor form to respond with, “Dunno l, what’s the highest you’ll go?” shrug... doing a postal drop right now... that thought popped in my head since the person never responded back.
  7. Let's see... Hoo boy... I could plan my summer if they would just announce dates... (yeeeeeahhh) What's your call for the opener? (check) You're not gonna hear that tonight. They played that the other night at "X" (Sorry to the rest of you that see bands that play the same things every stop but yeah... check) Have a good show man! (umm yeah) Can't believe they are skipping ... (I say this every time they don't announce Jones Beach. They haven't played the beach since 2013. Where's the hold on my credit card? (Said by every lottery participant) I hate the lottery... yup They never start on time (This is true about everyone... even Tony Bennett) My mom has a hold on her card. ( Yup - when participating in the lottery even a member here has tried to help me get tickets... including my mom) Are we still listening to Bowie? (Is this still Lawn Boy? - some of you will get that) Uhhh where are ya? - Isn't this what everyone goes through? I'm hosting a Buffett tailgate and half a Zac Brown Band tailgate... I go through this a lot. I booked a room in "X" just in case... (guilty) Wilson! (I mean who hasn't?)
  8. You rang? - btw... went to see Dead and Company last Sunday at Citi Field... Effing' Tremendous... Pulled last minute decision and found a ticket on Ticketmaster verified for $45 + fees... sat in Section 319 behind home plate, Row 1 and an aisle seat with club access. Great show... now to decide if I want to make the trip up to Mohegan Sun in two weeks... or Couch Tour it. GF is a trooper and has three shows (2 NYE shows) under her belt but has officially tapped out ... something about four hours of the same song each time she goes. Me? I likey.
  9. This thread is now going places.
  10. I was looking for a certain thread and I stumbled across this gem instead.
  11. It's been almost 17 years. Where is diversity in comics for little people? Thread...surr...ection...
  12. It was an uneven playing field the minute the internet went live. Let me explain. Let us use a police officer salary as an example. Source: Average Salary of Police Officers by State (Before overtime) New York: $49,760 North Carolina $35,639 Obviously it is more expensive to live in New York than it is in North Carolina. That is a given and why so many are moving off of Long Island or moving after retirement. However, let's say that the cost of living is somewhat proportional to salary earned from NY to NC. Let's say that I can somehow afford to allow 10% of my salary to be disposable income. At the next auction the individual from NY has $4976 to play with vs the individual from North Carolina who has $3563.90 to play with. While the income from state to state is a variable, we can assume that the cost of living is comparable to the income in the native state. However, the auction is at a national level where all of the people from those states are competing with their disposable income. You lost as soon as you started collecting salary in a lower ranked state. This is why $100 to someone in NY might not hit as hard as $100 to someone in North Carolina. Now, I will readily admit that I am not a tax or finance guy... so if I am wrong please correct me.
  13. 1 Miller really gets around these days. 2 I think this book was pressed.
  14. Peter David nailed the character in a couple of pages of X-Factor 87 better than everyone else in the history of writing the character. Pick up X-Factor 87 and the character will make more sense. https://www.cbr.com/get-to-know-quicksilver-a-speed-reading-list/
  15. Blame a combination of a certain Catholic high school in Mineola and my work environment. There are those that do everything without question and go nowhere. I came to the realization that I could stand up for myself a bit and at least say something so at the end of the day I am a little less miserable than some of my coworkers. They are silently miserable. Ex I walked in last month to a room while one of my coworkers was in tears at her desk over a work thing. 11 years to go as of next Wednesday...
  16. People keep telling me this both here and at work... One of my coworkers left this on my FB page. Speaking of telling it like it is... Edit: I'm getting sloppy.
  17. I am assuming here... I think you are right here and it really does not look like the kickstarter will come to fruition. However, he has the Action Force name TM'd as well as "Steel Brigade". There has to be some use it or lose it aspect of maintaining the trademark when it comes to this. So given the profile of the names I wonder what he is going to do with them?
  18. Thank you for giving me some WTF reading material for my hour ride home.
  19. Who @STORMSHADOW_80 and @whisp I admit that I have not been following this independent line. What I find interesting though is that Hasbro let a few trademarked names lapse. I would have thought they learned their lesson after having to rename several Transformers. https://news.hisstank.com/2019/06/19/6-inch-kickstarter-exclusive-steel-brigade-figure-from-action-force-by-valaverse-revealed-66611
  20. I appreciate it but if I do get it pressed there is really only one person I would use but that is not CCS.
  21. It's really only happened with these books and a few books I still have in my possession from before I knew about pressing. The ASM 14's both came back at a 3.5. When I bought them and from what I paid the price difference was not much different between a 3.5 to a 5.0 let alone a 3.5 to a 4.0. However they may take a trip to Florida for a couple of months.
  22. I did some google searching and started reading up on him since he started talking about this back in February. The only shocking thing I found from this was that he contracted West Nile twice and lost part of his cognitive abilities starting in 2003. If that is the case I cannot help but wonder if some of his prior "woe is me' messages are a product of that. If that is the case then that is a shame. Some of his earlier messages were a bit odd such as how Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast impacted his sales in Colorado. Some of his messages over the years have been almost "Yeezy-like" (Kanye West) in nature. I wonder if all of that is the product of his contracting West Nile twice.
