  1. @DomUga adamantium knew what response I would give by tagging me. Don’t... There are no shops to go to in NY that are worth taking away from time you could spend visiting NY. Do other things in NYC and enjoy the culture, food, and places to visit other than comic shops.
  2. They need to be made in greater number
  3. Well the club store was opened to everyone now. So... if you wanna pick up a couple of things...
  4. I am sure we could figure out something for October. I already have my pro-pass secured. If I was ever denied that, I don't think I would ever attend... not at the rates that they are charging.
  5. Can we make Action Figure Greggy? @Flee-Marquette could possibly do the packaging
  6. People would love to have their very own greggy.
  7. I am going to take the long point. Ok @Heronext I will throw in my 2 cents. I concede that it is very possible for someone to pimp their own books in a monthly auction. However most of us do not that. We comment on the books being sold, celebrate wins, and discuss why the books or art went for what it did. Take the Gold section for example. You will find a discussion thread whenever Heritage has one of their premier auctions or list something that makes that old cartoon wolf jump out of his table and his eyes fly out of his face while he makes an awooga sound. While the, ahem, "established" gentlemen are talking about and reflecting on the listing in gold, there is another listing for the same auction over in Original Art. Those are the ballers. They are doing the same thing and talking about the art there. That is where you might (and I do say that hesitantly) MIGHT find one or two guys discussing pieces that they themselves are bringing to market since it is 1 to 1. The full purpose of those threads is just to sit back and chat about the auction in progress as it unfolds with a group of like minded guys and gals that spend way too much money on needless stuff. However... If you truly want to get rid of threads that are thinly disguised as avenues outside of the proper advertising area of the boards for members to pimp their own goods... check this out: EDIT: I want to clarify that Andy / Thirdgreenham is as honorable guy as they come and just because he initiated the thread does not mean he is in any way shape or form talking about books he owns and trying to get them to go up in value. There is a lot of other interesting cats in that thread that do that.
  8. We REALLY need to make this happen... I would have no problem walking up to @VintageComics and presenting him with a "greggy".
  9. I saved this exchange in my email... it was great. I had bought what I thought was a complete Lego set from 1978 but it turns out it was missing pieces. I wrote the seller upon receiving that and alerted him to that fact that the set was not complete and thus not as advertised. At first I was annoyed after his initial response. After his second response I said, "You know what?... block this guy and order the parts and have nothing to do with him ever again." The gold medal is with his second response. I left him a neutral
  10. I can make that happen.
  11. If you actually do this... I will carry them around with me at NYCC and make it a basic no-prize to other boardies that stand out in the crowd.
  12. Eh I’ve been blocked by one person. It was a guy online that I asked to pack a GI Joe figure in a box so it wouldn’t break. Meanwhile he packed it in an envelope anyway instead of a box and it broke. He took the return but blocked me at least that is what he told me. Doesn’t matter much as I would no deal with him again. I have a few people on block though after twenty years on eBay... some buyers and some sellers. I keep decent records though so no matter how many names a certain someone from Pennsylvania creates he cannot shop with me unless he uses a different name and address.
  13. There must be something going on. The morning, someone bought two books for $505 that I know were on the high end of pricing.
  14. Don't knock it as this would be an excellent way to do that In Memoriam segment for those that were banned or are missing.
  15. I have to redo a bathroom in my home. The whole thing is going to be a gut job. Right now though to cover up the ugliness of the walls I hang framed pieces of older pictures, sports figures, and movie lobby cards. So right by the toilet there is a picture of Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth. That picture is placed in a particular position on the wall because Ruth's head is turned a certain way and you can clearly see his eyes. My friend said something like, "Using your bathroom is great, I always wondered what it would be like for Babe Ruth to watch me pee." @PeteFromPetesBasement
  16. I would definitely display a Greggy in the bathroom that way you knew he was always watching.
  17. Sure. The club lost the contract with Hasbro. A couple of years ago Hasbro wanted to copy Marvel and consolidate their properties into a shared universe. The idea was to somehow create a cinematic universe spanning multiple other media platforms involving the Transformers, GI Joe, MASK, Visionaries, Micronauts and ROM. The characters were to interact across the movies, comics, TV, toy lines and across the cons. For years Fun Publications has held the license as the official fan club for Transformers and GI Joe holding Botcon and Joe con conventions. Fun Publications had access to Hasbro molds and offered opportunities to create Hasbro product with Hasbro input that Hasbro did not think would be effectively sold on retail shelves. Want a Shattered Glass Universe Optimus Prime? Fun Publications will make that this years convention exclusive. Wish Hasbro had made Tomax and Xamot in business suits? The club used previous molds and repainted the parts from various Hasbro lines to cover you. Wish Hasbro had made a Big Ben? Fun Publications worked with Hasbro to procure the molds for a body and contracted Boss Fight studios for the head. Voila - figure issued. Then Hasbro dropped the first shoe. Hasbro trademarked "HasCon" a few years ago and declined to renew the Transformers license with Fun Publications. They also informed them that they had a year to go on GI Joe because they would not renew the GI Joe license either. Obviously Hasbro had big plans for the lines and knew what they were doing... (Arrested Development Narrator: "They didn't.) The club shut down the Transformers division and announced to the fans that the club had not been able to renew the license. Then as Hasbro does all things the way they do, from pack assortments to product reaching shelves, they realized that they did not have any viable plans for GI Joe. They hastily renewed the license with the club on a tentative basis and Fun Publications continued to be the ONLY outlet that you could buy GI Joe product. By this time though the shared universe idea between Hasbro properties had only gotten off the ground with some mentions in a few IDW comic books and one, yes one, SDCC boxed set featuring a character from each of the five lines. Coincidentally Fun Publications was given an official, "This is it." from Hasbro as Hasbro announced the Snake Eyes movie. The club is shutting down with all remaining product currently sitting at 40% off. Here is the thing though... Snake Eyes has been delayed yet again and is looking at a 2021 release if at all. The director already moved on to something else. There is no new Joe product coming down the pipeline. The club said in closing that they might have offered the last of the line in the format that we know it. This was translated to readers that the rumored 6" line could be announced at SDCC or it could be years away. Hascon is a bust, Hasbro goofed with promotion of one of it's most lucrative in house properties and may have effectively killed the brand for the next few years damaging it for many more years to come. While I never went to a Joe show I have to admit that they looked more engaging and fun than most comic cons. Hasbro attended and showed off upcoming product and concept figures in the vault. Voice actors attended along with comic creators of the Joe books. There were kitbashing and custom making workshops to design figures. There were convention exclusives and the infamous Joe parachute drops where attendees had access to GI Joe exclusive figures with cloth parachutes and stage an invasion of sorts by releasing them all at once. (I never attended but I do have Freefall and his parachute in my desk next to me.) Fun Publications was often criticized for making certain tooling choices for club figures they offered at $35 each but we must remember that they were limited by what Hasbro ok'd. Now that they are gone, I think the fans did not realize what they had and that anything Fun Publications did was better than what Hasbro was doing and is currently up to. RIP Fun Publications and the Joe Club - they were the only keepers of the torch.
  18. Awwwwwwwww.... Thanks! It's pretty sweet here actually.
  19. I don't know about who is happier, but I do know that I am happier that you are not near mine. You are amusing. I hope you have more problems with people sending you books so you stick around.
  20. Just slightly better than you must apparently be in the courtroom. You left yourself open for that one This is becoming fun though. I mean it. I'm not even typing with disdain for you. This is sheer amusement.
  21. @dena While I am appreciative of someone considering me the bundle of joy that I am, I have an idea. Would it be possible to have a short video montage honoring those who have been banned? This would be like the grammys or the Academy Awards where they have an In Memoriam segment. The video could have a reflective song like Sarah McLachlan's "I Will Remember You." Then you could fade in and out images of banned member's avatars with the date they joined and the date they were banned. There could be a separate song just for Stu's names. Kidding... the thought just came to me and made me giggle... thought I would share.
  22. @STORMSHADOW_80 Acid Storm is an amazing piece. I think the pilots name is an easter egg or something.
  23. I applaud your education and your accomplishments. I am shrugging right now. I stand by what I said. Take it to court... but please do so with some type of recording device as I enjoy listening to people laughing at others. "Someone" wrote something. Again. It could have been a typo. It could be a different person. You pursue your little thing. I think that's cute. As you said, "whether it's wise to start a lawsuit over $100, etc. are fair points and issues that may make a lawsuit ultimately not worth it."
  24. I don't live on the beach... I am about 7 miles away. After what happened with a few friends in Sandy I would never live in a flood zone here. It will happen again.
