  1. Looks like I have almost two months worth of posts to reply to Threadsurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrectionnnnnn
  2. Bro... It was 1986. Have you see what else was going on that year ?
  3. BTW... I mean ANY thread like this. I hear the modern section of the board is more fun than going into the TV Movie section and telling a certain someone that a certain movie performed like a vacuum.
  4. I do not know how I missed this thread. I really would like boardies to start tagging all sorts of things like this thread to my attention. It makes for excellent time spent during the week when I commute to work on the train. All you have to do is put down a "@buzzetta"
  5. No my dad is known to at least one very long time board member here. (like from the class of 2002) I am sure if he wanted to tell stories and he saw this he would. My dad doesn't think a wall should be painted unless it is flaking. He was furious when I bought him a snowblower a few years ago. He was furious when I bought my parents concert tickets. As far the gf. Nah... believe me I cannot go into details but you are a little off base. I cannot publicly explain.
  6. Respectfully disagree with buyer's remorse. Not my problem. However the one time I did give in to buyer's remorse was when I did truly believe that the guy's son bought the item and not him. The guy wanted to work something out. He told his son he could buy something but was unaware of the cost. For once, I believe the buyer in a case like this. I absolutely agree with you that fighting fraud is worth it. Fight tooth and nail. It is worth the hassle as I figure I can spend 10-20 minutes on speakerphone while I am at my computer doing some work anyway. This way the buyer has no incentive to try it again with the next guy. I checked and saw that someone that I fought is no longer a registered eBay user. As far as snotty. heh depends on the mood.
  7. Eh somewhat true but not quite. Having experienced a charge back twice where the bank tried that... PayPal sided with me. Case one was buyer shenanigans - I wish that buyer death on Christmas Case two was the Markey Street incident. Someone actually did steal a credit card and used it to purchase something from me. I shipped it to the address eBay provided directly printing the postage from eBay / PayPal. When the owner of the credit card opened a claim I looked into it and saw that the whole operation in New Jersey was a scam. I knew the owner of the credit card had a valid claim. I did too because my merchandise was essentially stolen. I don't know what happened to the owner of the credit card but those Legos are probably in Russia or the Ukraine and I kept the money. I don't know if the owner of the credit card lost out or PayPal / eBay ate it...
  8. There are a few around here that want you to believe that the buyer always wins. This is not true at all.
  9. Luckily my house is about a half mile away from my parents who are retired and usually always home. They are signing for it. As I am typing this, even at my age, I am more afraid of 'Dad' knowing what's in the box than the gf. The GF does not live here but she knows the stuff I bring in and out of the house is not worthless junk and somehow she notices everything that is new and everything that leaves. We were watching a movie together when all of a sudden my phone went ka-ching and then I showed her the GPA thing to compare. This was my 6.5 copy of ASM 31. So again, she does realize the value.
  10. I might stay home that weekend. Seeing Elton John that week and have a ticket to Captain Marvel for the Thursday night with friends. Last year I was in and out to drop off books that I should have sent to Joey first to be pressed and then I wound up grabbing a page of art in all of an hour before I left. This year... unless a couple of other people are going... I might take a break.
  11. I hate you. I pre-ordered a skiff just in case. I felt it was very fairly priced at $40 in comparison to what they originally wanted for that Rogue One Tank ($80) On top of that, I have this feeling that they are going to limit these skiffs and gauge their order from the factory based upon presales with an overrun. There was excitement for the tank but when it dropped at $80 everyone balked until places started clearancing them out at $29.99 - $45.99. Hopefully the "Premium Membership" applied to preorders.
  12. Movies: I do not watch much so I don't feel the need to build a film library. However certain movies like The Dollars Trilogy, the Star Wars movies and some of the Disney movies I have bought on Blu-Ray. With those I will wait until there is a clearance sale or I buy them used. I have Netflix and Amazon, and I have an Apple TV that I plug in a relatives account for TV when I actually want to watch something on the premium movie channels. In return that person gets Netflix and Amazon. Radio: Traded my Netflix password to my friend across town for his Sirius Radio (Yo yo yo Howard!), and I have Amazon Prime music (Not the premium account though). Presently on my computer I have over 26,000 songs. If I actually want a song to keep at this point I either buy it on iTunes or rip it from the YouTube video and launder it through iTunes. Yes, I am a horrible person. The sun will still rise and if you complain I will go rip another one. When that process is declared to be illegal I won't do it anymore. I don't want to settle for $30,000 like my friend's husband is doing for file sharing comic books illegally. Comic Books: I buy ASM each month. Eventually I will get another Marvel Unlimited or Comixology Account... I cannot decide which would be better. I am all about digital media that I can store and keep... The day's of me devoting space to media collections are long gone. BTW... last Disney movie I bought was Moana. I will be damned but that movie and its music are amazing. (Lin Manuel Miranda is totally on beast mode when it comes to songwriting)
  13. Sold off another 4 GI Joe figures for $110 shipped... so that was nice. I have my phone next to me so as offers are coming in I am accepting (as in the GI Joes) or countering. I do not think the people that received a counter realize that the 8% eBay bucks promo eventually expires before the offer does. This has happened before and people for some reason have gotten upset with 'me'... oh well.
  14. @meshuggah Over the summer of 2018 I was asked to help facilitate a move from Florida to New York. I said no problem and hopped a one way flight in July to help out. We drove the car back but a moving company was hired to bring all the non essentials up to be stored temporarily in a storage facility. Before I begin I want to make it perfectly clear that I was not a part of the vetting or hiring of the moving service. The person that did this hired a company that they felt gave the best price. What happened? Truck broke down the day of the move...they had to reschedule for the next day... Company gave them the run-around to the person that hired them as the person that hired them is a good person. I am not a good person when people give the run-around. I took the phone and got involved and had some choice words. My inner BS alarm went off after having a conversation with them. Turns out after doing a thorough background search, search on the owners and anyone else connected that it was a sham service where the owner of the company was convicted of multiple felonies in trafficking stolen items, were convicted of fraud and other crimes associated with running a sham moving company. Basically they quoted a price and would then hold your items saying the move was more expensive then previously thought and that you owed more money and had to play a storage fee while you disputed it. According to many complaints people gave up and just paid to get their stuff back. We called the parent company that had supposedly subcontracted this company and they stated that they had stopped doing business with this subcontracted moving company. The owner of the company was basically told that his services would not be required and we quickly moved everything into storage themselves and hired a few 'locals'. We drove back to New York and the Real Estate agent that sold the house in Florida was nice enough to oversee a proper moving company ship everything to New York. When I am bored, I like to keep tabs on Mr Moving Company Scam and continue to see him miserable. He was recently in trouble again... awwww shucks. Moral of the story... CAREFULLY vet your moving company. Sometimes the best price is not the best choice. Let's also be real for a second that many people who are involved in the day to day of a moving company might have made some mistakes in their past. However, trafficking stolen items and defrauding customers in moving scams are not acceptable 'mistakes in the past'.
  15. I would buy detached centerfold books all day like this. Congrats and wow.
  16. WRONG !!!!!! I don't have any of my old shoes listed on eBay. I am home brewing a pair for this spring.
  17. Someone buy my junk... that way I have space to offer more of it.
  18. Scar from the Lion King is the only Disney villain to accomplish his overall goal... just saying.
  19. Up through college I had many of my childhood toys since we did not have a lot of money growing up. I took care of them because if you didn't take care of your things my parents would not get you anything else...why waste money. The majority of my original GI Joe and Transformers collections helped pay for books for my masters degree as well as all of the He-Man figures and whatever else was laying about. The Legos I never sold and if anything they were added onto over the years. I still have the Star Wars figures as I never sold my figures. In fact I added onto it to complete the set. The ironic thing was that I placed the majority of my belongings in storage at my grandmothers house. When she fell ill she told my parents that she wanted me to buy the house from them... Then when she passed away it made sense to buy her house since that it where all of my stuff already was. However I am with you that I do not like a cluttered home. There is honestly only one comic book on display. Lego land is in a section of the basement but that is like a train layout. After that... I am not a big fan of clutter.
  20. I just texted one of my friends asking him to be my "barge buddy." His response cannot be published here. Then I sent him the picture of the instructions... I can't even tell a certain someone that I bought this... she will just stare at me in disbelief as I am supposed to redo the bathroom...
  21. OMG... so... this came in my email... Apparently if I keep this I will need a 'barge buddy' which sounds wrong in eight different ways. I took the liberty of posting the email and instruction booklet. This thing is a beast.
  22. Unless it is ridiculous opportunity I am going to see if I can refrain from buying anything in March. It's not a money thing... it's a social experiment and a battle of wills Wait... when is Big Apple Comic Con / New York Comic Book Marketplace - whatever... the 'Carbo' show?
