  1. This is still one of the greatest, non-poofed, threads in existence.
  2. I did buy Vuescan and I scanned those five Han Solo comics just to get them done. I've been mostly scanning documents though this past evening and am about to go to bed. Thanks to you guys and I will play around with a few comics this week. I may now also need a new scanner though as the first time I open Vue Scan it works well with the machine but it is launching the scanner part under the glass into the wall. Then I unplug it... and then it works well for the remainder of the session until it goes dormant again. Right now as long as I can scan my documents I am happy as that is the most important.
  3. VueScan definitely works with Sierra. And El Capitan. I trust the members of this forum. I spent the money and bought vuescan. I have access to my scanner but have to learn how to get the most out of vuescan to maximize my scanning. If anyone has any suggestions I am all years.
  4. I have what may be my last plastic crack order (for awhile) coming in the mail at the end of the month.
  5. On with Apple support for over an hour and they are trying their best. HP were a bunch of clowns.
  6. Well spend the $100 bucks or buy a new scanner. That's what it boils down to. Well not really... The scanner physically works.... I did a test run using the watermarked version. Buying a new scanner would just add up to a new machine that also works but that cannot work with Mac Sierra (and I do not know how to undo Mac Sierra)
  7. It is worth the $100? Because this is beyond frustrating... I need to scan comic book stuff, work stuff and mortgage stuff. HP seems to be absolutely no help. Turns out to be another company that depends on crowdsourced tech support instead of using real solutions.
  8. Updated to Sierra for Mac OS and now my HP8250 no longer works Was thinking of getting an new one anyway. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve the sierras issue or any updates on scanners that work with sierra ?
  9. Judging by the fact that there are no holes, we now know that the new CGC case may shatter upon point of impact, but it will indeed stop a bullet. That is harsh. Sorry and I hope that it is resolved in a manner that both the seller and buyer are made whole.
  10. I've always felt that I am better off waiting for someone's wife to get pissed off that their husband spent that money on someone's signature and for them to offer it up on eBay. Stan Lee immediately comes to mind as does Romita which are the only two signatures I have (IIRC).
  11. Also... this is currently shipping... However I would wait until Black Friday as the Lego Black Friday incentive is a Lego Brick Built Snow Globe which is kind of cool.
  12. If you have not picked up Lego 76060 an interesting point was raised on one of the Lego forums... this is a one off exclusive release and not widespread. This could possibly become retired quickly like the Ant-Man set. It is only available from Target and Lego Shop At Home (Not the Lego Stores) for $29.99 I ordered one the other day in case I want to utilize the elements and make a modular Sanctum Sanctorum in scale with the other modular buildings. https://www.lego.com/en-us/marvelsuperheroes/products/doctor-stranges-sanctum-sanctorum-76060
  13. Just got back from Inception II and it was great. It really was like a cross between Batman Begins and Inception... I liked it. Lot of little surprises and nods in the film and I think it will hold up well in the grand scheme of Marvel movies. One thing though... I look forward to watching it with the sound off and trying to see if I can sync it up with Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon... As a fellow boardie described it to me the other day... "Trippy as balls" And one more thing... See this movie in 3D... I am not usually a 3D guy but it was recommended to me to see it in that format so I obliged. I am glad I made an exception for this.
  14. I'm going to take this upon myself to post any stamp dates that I find. Hopefully others will help out also and we can find some books that people are looking for! I actually have one due to this thread. I have a mid grade Cap 117 with a June 30 date stamp on the back.
  15. Took a trip across the island. I went from place to place looking at Vintage gumball machines and signage but nothing wow'ed me. I wanted to find something I could not find on eBay or most of the rest of you could find. Then I saw something that caught my eye. I picked up two pieces. I checked them out to make sure... but these are two pieces of original art from a residential Long Islander, Bourke Sweeney, who drew cartoons while on active duty in the Pacific. These cartoon would appear in military publications during WWII. The top corners of the backs are affixed to cardboard right now but when you turn the page over it has the military approval stamps and signatures and additional information. The first cartoon caption reads: "Do you think it'll rain?" The second cartoon caption reads: "He's been hanging around ever since we camouflaged that gun."
  16. That would be a "2" and only that high because the word "death" was used.
  17. If anyone wants a threatening PM, please PM me me with your request and the level of the threat you would like to see with '1' being tame and '10' being something you would report to the authorities.

  19. RUMOR Heard they were not sending any books to CGC or Voldemort anymore by their own choice or they were not allowed for falling behind in bills. Overheard that at a Carbo show this year or the year before. SEEMINGLY TRUE Remember they were getting EVERYTHING slabbed and starting it at a $9.99 price tag. They were not realizing prices for their customers that the customers wanted. Keep in mind that if you consigned through them you were getting charged their consignment fee as well as the eBay fee. You could do much better consigning through Heritage, ComicLink or Comic Connect. Made sense not to grade everything to save on costs. Make even more money by raising prices. I used to deal with them all the time. No more.
  20. Just got back from a Flea Market that was alongside a Long Island Railroad station. I went looking for comics, old toys, iron / die cast / tin toys, trains and things like that, any old furniture. Nothing. Comic bins were what passes for $1 convention books or 50¢ beaters in $5 - $10 bins. No, I am not paying $20 for a 7.0 X-Force 2 or a 8.0 Batman 404. $10 for carded POTF2 Star Wars figures? Those are $3 a piece on a good day depending on card condition. I saw one guy taking a wire brush cleaning out the rust or rot from a $5 surge protector. I wanted to find out where he lived to warn anyone in the house what he was doing. I saw Lionel trains with engine rust and rot in the gears. I did see a few things but nothing that I could not have hit the BIN and gotten in better condition on eBay. I have business out in Suffolk county anyway today. I may hit up google and see what is available to browse around today.
