  1. OHCs are Oversized Hardcovers. They're more prevalent with modern titles/comics than with older reprint material. They are the the same dimensions of omnibuses (large than regular premier hardcovers) but usually only contain 11-13 issues (so less than an omnibus, but more than a 6 issue TPB or Marvel Premier Hardcover, which are both also smaller dimensions than Omnibuses or Hardcovers). For example the New Avengers Omnibus has Avengers 500-503, Avengers Finale, New Avengers 1-31, Annual 1; New Avengers Most Wanted Files; New Avengers : Custom 676: Army & Air Force; Giant -Size Spider -Woman 1; New Avengers: Illuminati (2006) 1; Civil War: The Confession 1; Civil War: The Initiative 1 Which content-wise is the same as having the Oversized Hardcovers of: Avengers Dis-Assembled, New Avengers hardcovers Vol 1-3 and Civil War:Avengers. In my scenario you can buy the 5 OHCs for less than the cost of the New Avengers Omnibus. (this isnt true in this case but it was the the simplest HCs aligning to an Omnibus where there are OHCs available). So why buy the Omnibus? Its bigger, bulkier, harder to read, and costs more!
  2. I just don't understand when the marketplace overvalues an Omnibus vs the oversized hardcovers it collects (or maybe it's I dont get when the market undervalues a group of OHCs vs the Omnibus of the same content) Like I'm watching a listing on ebay right now of 3 OHCs (no Im NOT telling you guys which one!) and it's probably going to sell for less than 1/2 of what the omnibus that collects those three OHCs is actively selling for. I like an omnibus as much as the next guy, but I dont get it as the be all end all for my shelf. I'd rather have 3 easier to read oversized hardcovers on my shelf for half the price...
  3. it wouldnt be the CGC secret santa reveal thread without some "whoever this is from thanks" and "that's me!" posts...
  4. more may be available Tuesday (though it might just be the retail edition, which is also sold out at the moment)
  5. The OOP Hawkeye Omnibus is now selling pretty consistently for over $100 thanks to the buzz around the filming of the Disney+ show. This HAS to get a reprint right? Im thinking about selling mine and then buying again when it get's resolicited (or solicited as a new version with the addition of the 3rd volume of Hawkeye (Lemire/Perez) added in to make it bigger $125 style Omnibus).
  6. whew. all of the images that have been uploaded over the years have returned.
  7. So ive read some of the last 28 pages, and still dont know.... Are all the newly broken images (from the update) in my Okajima thread in GA just going to stay broken and i should just give up hope?
  8. OK for no good reason I went down the rabbit hole of Sheena, and saw mention of her first appearance being in the british magazine/tabloid "Wags" issue #46. But I cant find ANY visual digital evidence of it, save for it's mention in the GCD and a small image I found of the page with Sheena's debut. (so small I can barely read some of the text!) Has anyone actually seen, held, or owned a copy of Wags #46? I imagine a LOT of the copies got consumed during the paper drives of WWII over in the UK, so I wouldn't be surprised if it is massively scarce, or even just plan impossible to find. There's never even been a sale (as far as I can find) over on Heritage...
  9. Spontaneous purchase. BORK! BORK! BORK! Seemed like a fair price when i got it on Amazon ($30) for a Diamond Select muppet. One of my faves.
  10. was in a thread about this on facebook. Seller is pitching multiple pictures pulled from the internet as "his" books...
  11. yep, and to investors more shows means more merchandising, more international distribution, more licensing....
  12. 1. seasons are shorter 2. this was the investor call, so it's really just there to show how Disney is leveraging it's IP rights (I know it's turned into a bit of PR, but it's still primarily an investors call) 3. Not every concept makes it to the screen, so it's better to have extra irons in the fire. 4. a lot of the stuff presented will be released on their streaming platform, which is new and content creation is king, and their platform is revenue generating, so to investors (the primary audience) they're interested in seeing content creation plans.
  13. man this week is a mess.. I have packages coming from multiple ebay sellers and DCBS and while slow is totally understandable... all three are in a bit of limbo, which is weird. West Virginia, California and Illinois all three scanned and are being processed at their drop off point, but havent shown any movement since.. Earliest got dropped off on the 3rd, most recent on the 7th. Im guessing they're going thru the system and just not getting scanned along the way anymore? Now its scan it when it goes in the system and scan it when it comes out? What a joke.
  14. Keep talking like that and I'll replaced Barks with Hergé, whose Tin Tin was an obvious massive influence on Barks storytelling and artistry.
  15. Lots of good answers but i have the correct list, everyone else can stop (im kiddjng, its all somewhat subjective) 1. Jack Kirby 2. Osamu Tezuka, since you didnt specify American comics it makes since to include the godfather of manga. 3. Moebius. The greatest artist of Bande Dessinée, same logic of inclusion as Tezuka. 4. Carl Barks. Elevated the "funnies" of animal comics to levels never thought.
  16. I shipped this morning. If you're a Hanukkah person rather than a Christmas person, dont feel like you have to wait to open
  17. 2021 goals: Buy things for under GPA. Sell things for over GPA. thought I'd try something new...
  18. I've been informed that he did get a vacation for his unboardly behavior.. Back to your regularly scheduled programming.
  19. and wow, I had moved on from the IH141 fiasco so I didnt read agamoto's final few posts, but Im pretty sure homophobic slurs dont fly here... Im not gonna quote his whole 18 point rant, but when you end like this you invalidate everything you said...
  20. the trade versions are still affordable and decent, but man I want those HCs back...
  21. 1. I usually check "take it"s vs the PL/HOS. Maybe after a few takes in my sales thread, or at the end of the day. If someone on the PL posted a take, I would PM them and say that due to PL status I wont be honoring the "take" and ask them to edit their post to remove the take. I would also post that "Book X is still available" (in case they arent going to go back and edit their take post). 2. If I see someone on my personal no sale list (and there are like 3 people on my list) post a take, I'd PM them that per my rules I reserve the right to not do business with some people, and they are one of those people. I'd then do the the same steps as in #1 as far as clarification and editing of posts. 3. If Im the buyer and post a take in a sales thread, I'm obligated to buy. I'm also responsible for knowing who Im engaging in business with. I dont always check before buying, but if I found myself having posted a "take it" on a PL sales thread, Id PM the guy and say something about how Im not comfortable completing a transaction with someone who has open issues on the PL, but once they're resolved Im happy to buy the book in question. If he holds me to the transaction then I just be careful using paypal, but this hasnt happened yet, cause any time a PL person posts a sales thread (which I can only remember happening once) the boardies swarmed on him like flies on honey and ate him alive before he could do more than post a couple books and then sulk away in shame.
  22. Yep, the point of collected editions is to have something readable, so keep the version that is readable (has the right pages). on a related note, I still kick myself for selling my Plague of Frogs HCs years ago, someday I'll find replacement copies of Vol 3 and 4...
