  1. So you want the same (or better) quality, at the same price with a faster turn around time? Or are you willing to pay more for faster and better? Just wondering what your acceptable metric is...
  2. Im not going to argue your right to disagree, or even laugh at me... but maybe a little substance behind your iconic assessment? There are plenty of other comic book message boards out there, so if you aren't a satisfied CGC customer, don't use them, and head off to greener pastures to sow your message board oats.
  3. Really? There are NO companies in business offering all 3? Not sure I agree with you there. Indeed. Im actually curious to hear your examples. I worked for an Auto Manufacturer for 10 years. Cost/Quality/Timing is how we gauged our product and all our projects. Our cars cost a little more, and we only produced as many as were needed (and sometimes people were waiting for one) but we went for quality as the priority. So our timing was a little off, our costs were a little higher than the lower end models, but our quality was very well regarded. Right now I'd say CGC is all about the Quality, and is sacrificing Timing while trying to control costs. I think they know that if they increases costs to decrease timing they lose more customers than they gain (heck they kinda do that anyway with the differet submission tracks). There have been competitors in the past who gave you a fast turn around at a competitive or lower cost. But the quality wasnt there. Or at least the market decided the quality wasnt there (based on adoption rates). Since this business is built around quality details (details in comic grading accuracy/consistency, details in handling something valuable so it is not damaged) I cant imagine CGC tossing the Quality vector aside to decrease turnaround times (while keeping costs in check).
  4. here's another extension of the rationale that giving the 3% discount (of listed prices) for check/MO is not a bad thing... If I said I was selling books at prices that included shipping... and then said local pickups would get the shipping costs reduced from their invoice (say $10)... is that any different? And no one would boycott a sales thread that said they'd give a discount for local pickups right?
  5. And the first reply in the recreated Daredevil #1 sales thread is a krap (a light one, but krap-like none the less)... Mr Chipz cant catch a break... at least it isnt signed
  6. It looks like the Michael Turner signature is punching the Stan Lee signature with a Joe Simon fist...
  7. Im always on the lookout for Tales of the GLC art (see my CAF link below)... and in my time looking (last 4 years) I have not come across a page from that story.
  8. Posted this in the GL collecting thread too, but here also made sense... Spider sense is tingling with this seller... zero feedback... "milehighcomics2012" as a name? sounds made up, which makes me think the images are stolen too... Anyone recognize this Showcase 22 on eBay The back cover markings make me think it'd be pretty easy to ID...

  10. I know.. I have to be a bit forgiving and include some of the other beautiful Gothic Horror covers from the era..
  11. And my latest Lady in White Addition: Witching Hour #59 CGC 9.6 White Don Rosa Collelction
  12. Tough issue. Amazing that a lot of PS issues are as common as dirt, but on that issue---for some odd reason---you never see them in HG. The one I did see (a 9.6 3+ years ago) went for quite a pretty penny. After 10 years+, only 3 9.6s, NO 9.4s, and 5 9.2s. Apparently tough. Easily my favorite issue in the series. #10 is the bear of the Phantom Stranger. She's no 9.6, but she is one of my Ladies in White...
  13. Bought this book at the end of July off ebay. Was lost in the maze of Post office Chutes and Ladders for almost 2 months... and now I have it... another Lady in White... Witching Hour #59 CGC 9.6 Don Rosa Collection
  14. $1800 for a black label 9.8? Jim I wasn't kidding, but since you haven't paid already i have the right to cancel the purchase and sell to someone else Or so says the rapping pasta boy lord will that logic have a life of its own for a looooooong time. Linguini Logic....
  15. if you are looking for immediate payment why not require immediate payment for any BIN items? I believe that's a configuration option right? (Im more of a buyer than a seller, so I could totally be wrong). I'd just not reply to his request. Finish this transaction and move on. If in the future he contacts you about wanting to bid on books you can tell him then since he'll have no recourse at that point (feedback/shipping shenangins-wise.
  16. Coming out of the SA top 100 talks, I decided to try and start grabbing books from my top 100 as they popped up.... First one... Flash 139 (1st appearance of Reverse Flash/ Professor Zoom) this was previously slabbed as a 8.0...
  17. Thanks Dr B... even a partial list is better than no list! (thumbs u
  18. Was looking for a full list of the SA/BA books that were in the Oakland Pedigree... and I came across this message board list that posted something from the CGC forums (link to message board here! but it cuts off at Superboy.... anyone know where the full list can be found? I did a few searches of various timeframes and came up empty... (and yes I know there's a pedigree book in the works...
  19. Alison Bechdel won an Eisner, a National Book award and was on several Book of the Decade lists for her graphic novel "Fun Home"
  20. another great female front office talent; Karen Berger. Creator of the Vertigo line at DC which led to a ton of successful titles that weren't "Capes" books, and allowed DC to keep many of its best writers during the 2000s (Gaiman, Ellis, MIlligan, Morrison, etc) when "creator owned" was having a 90s-esque revival thanks to movie development deals. All of it was started by Karen.
  21. here's another one that gets unnoticed since she's not on the "tallent" side of things. Diana Schutz's tenure is impressive> Editor in Chief at Comico when it was churning out Wagner's Grendel & Mage. Moved over to Dark Horse in 1990 and helped move it its current position as a leading second tier Publisher (behind Marvel/DC, and alongside Image). She edited Sin City, Yusagi Yojimbo, Croncrete, etc In fact she came up with the Maverick line which was the creator owned branch of Dark Horse, created to avoid the talent drains that were affecting Marvel and DC in the 90s, as a result Dark Horse didnt experience the same losses in talents that the big 2 did in the 90s, and still have relationships with Miller, Sam Keith and other creators who surely would have gone solo and left DH with very little talent cache ...
  22. Pia Guerra had a long successful run as the artist on Y: The Last Man Gail Simone has had amazing runs on Deadpool, Birds of Prey, Secret 6, etc Recently there was a kickstarter project called Womanthology that raised over 100k helmed by Renae De Liz with work by Anne Nocinti, Fiona Staples you dont have to look very hard to find great female tallent both in the writing and art departments.... much less in editorial. Yes its a male dominated industry, but there are a number of successful female creators, who write/draw all kinds of books....
  23. Right. Strange angle... completely obfuscated the writing. As compared to: Yes, it is a strange angle that hides the writing. This view also brings out the moisture damage or whatever it is in the middle of the book. and its not like he couldnt have just screen grabbed this scan so he could use it in his resale since he doesnt have a scanner (my assumption since he just takes photos) so he made a conscious decision to use his type of photos for whatever intent that may be...
  24. looks like he follows your posts pretty regularly... You posted at 8:18 and within an hour his listing has been edited to not include the no hand-writing part of the description... though I cant see in the revision history any note about the description change... maybe it was in the title (which was changed) where are you seeing this ? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemRevisionDetails&_trksid=p2047675.l2569&rt=nc&item=261099956968 huh? Where am I seeing what? I see the link, and I see the revision history page (showing changes to the Title and the shipping.... oooooohhh wait *light just came on* you mean the timing right? there are no edits in the time frame that I mentioned... got it... (typing and realization all in realtime) Im confused because trmoore made the mention that the listing "mentions no hand-writing on the cover... " but I dont see that in the listing anywhere... so I assumed that the seller (who in the past has been aware of these type of threads) had changed the listing to avoid being caught in an act of deception... but I see your point, he hasnt edited anything but the title... so TR was that where the "mentions no handwriting on the cover" was? Not sure what is being asked...I didn't say the listing said "no handwriting on cover"... I said he does not mention/disclose that there is handwriting on the cover. ahhh there's the confusion I thought when you said: "and notice he mentions no hand-writing on the cover.. " you meant that he stated (mentions) that there was no hand-writing on the cover... when you really meant that he did not mention the handwriting on the cover confusion resolved... I
