  1. Just bought from Peter-hearts-Gwen, great shipper, and fast too!
  2. Started working on an ASM 101-200 collection this past week: ASM 155 CGC 9.6 ASM 181 CGC 9.6 Not related, but one of my favorite 70's era covers I've been keeping an eye out for a cheep 9.6 copy of this book on ebay, and finally got one.
  3. ISF#33 is easily my favorite Wood cover, and when IDW's Wally Wood Artist Edition Reprint comes out with that on the cover its only gonna get tougher to find... and I was one of the underbidders on it on Clink!
  4. My order of a large amount of bubble wrap arrived perfectly! Thanks for throwing in those two slabs to keep the bubble wrap nicely folded! Showed up fast, and well packaged.
  5. CGC notes it as "UK Edition" dont know if that means there's a US edition as well. Bought it more as a curiosity than anything else. CGC had a few issues of the title listed with sales that looked way to affordable (>$50) so I bit just for the heck of it. I also like the super tiny missiles that the guy (Captain Valiant I assume) is thrown at it.
  6. love that Ditko Space Adventures cover... one day it will be mine... Scratched my Sci-Fi itch on ebay last night on the cheep. From 1953, Space Comics #59.
  7. Ok so Im new to the HG market, and Ive started a little GL collection... The CLink auction was very interesting though confusing... Of 66 Silver age Green Lantern books (the pre-Denny/Neal era) there were: 27 that sold for 20%+ under my GPA estimates (inflating for pedigree or adjusting for market changes since last sale). 25 that sold for significantly over my GPA estimates (by 50% or more) 16 sold for around what I estimated they would based on GPA and other factors. So I am either under, over or accurately estimating these books... and it looks like pretty evenly divided. So I looked deeper. Common traits of my underestimates: 21 of 25 were pedigree or collection copies 23 of 25 were ranked either 1 (12 of them) or 2 (11 of them) in the census 9 of 25 had already exceeded estimates before the last day of bidding Grade range was 4@9.8, 12@9.6, 5@9.4, 1@9.2 average price for over-performers $1452 So how do these traits stand up to the comics that came in under my estimate: Common traits on my overestimates/under performers: 10 of 25 were pedigree or collection copies 12 of 25 were ranked either 1 (3 of them) or 2 (9 of them) 7 of 25 books were at bids less than 50% of estimates 24 hrs before close. Grade range was 3@9.8, 6@9.6, 8@9.4, 1@9.2, 3@9.0, a 3.5 and a 3.0 average price for under-performers $1122 So at the end of the day I need to up my estimates for pedigree books, and #1 or #2 ranked census books regardless of price. though good deals could be found with the occasional pedigree and high census book: Best deals (to me) from last night: GL #11 for less than half estimate. #1 census. Same book sold for $5k 2 years ago, and not even $2500 this time. Ouch! Both GL #4s sold for ~60% of estimate. GL#40 top census bought for $6200 two years ago, sold for 25% less than the original price. GL#59s (first Guy) also showed a slight drop off with both copies. Biggest risers: GL#1 in 9.2 rose more than 60% vs last 9.2 sale despite not being pedigreed. #28,29,32,33,35,,36,& 37 all in a row showed sharp increases ranging from 60% to 300%. Finally #57 and 64 both showed 300%+ increases vs my GPA estimates based on last sales. fun night... wish one of them had ended up in my hands, but theres always December..
  8. I recently saw an auction of Untamed Love and was struck by the *spoon*-y ness of the cover... a great book!
  9. Ive been in an (Adam) Strange mood lately... #217: One of my favorite covers... if I can get a high end copy it'll be slabbed for posterity sake. #218: great condition copy 8.5-9.0 range love the colors. #242 Another favorite cover from the end of the run.
  10. I've seen that book a dozen times on ebau, and this is the first time Ive realized that the girl has wings... ummm not that I was looking elsewhere....
  11. wait... this isnt the sales thread... I love the cover to PC #42 soo much and I cant even explain it. Something about the pop from the yellow cover always looks great on a Planet Comic... great posts everyone! I had a feeling there were some great Sci-Fi collections out there that needed some time in the spotlight! Who needs Timelys?!?
  12. I was just eyeballing some jet over on the bay... and that Planet 22 is great! think thats the first time I've seen a 22.
  13. love that our hero is wearing short sleeves in space. Cause you know it gets hot, and I might need to flex my biceps!
  14. Cheetah love that Strange Worlds #7! ...and the Startlings ...and the Amazing Adventures
  15. love the Nuclear War allusions... good times... Here's another one with a Steve Ditko cover
  16. Thanks Jimbo! Planet Comics is definitely the Cadillac of Golden Age Sci-Fi (along with EC). Who's got some odd balls?
  17. ok I know its in my sig line but here's my pretty pretty Planet Comics love the detailed decimation of New York in the background complete with the Statue of Liberty!
  18. In an age before cell phones, space shuttles, satellites & walking on the moon Golden age comic books gave some great visions of outer space and science fiction in general. The golden age ended just before we started venturing into space and turning our flights of fancy into real images so I think Golden Age sci-fi is very interesting. I couldn't find a thread about Sci-Fi as a subject, and since that's my main interest, I thought it might be someone else's too! (and yes I know that some people call the whole of superhero genre "science fiction" but you know what I mean... flying saucers, men on mars, ray guns, creatures from the 5th dimension...) Have fun and show off your Sci-Fi love!
  19. At lunch: Will be posting some of my DCnU #1s along with some $5 trades over in the Mixed forum
  20. That Planet Comics #71 was not on my want list, but it is now! It looks like an Adam Strange scene... Here's my board pickup of Planet Comics #61 It just makes me wonder where her shoes went?!?
  21. Ahhh Sunday nights when hopes and dreams live and die with ebay auction closes... One Planet Comics addition for me this week, seller didnt have a back scan or seem to be very comic savvy, but price was right and condition seems in my wheelhouse (4-5ish). I'll forgive the miscut/aligned cover (look at top right) for the sake of the sharp colors. A little girl saving girl action this time. With a monster to boot!
  22. apparently 2 months later the cover creator was lacking for new ideas...
