Thanks for sharing this! We didn't have any record of the cover notations on this issue! (We knew it existed in the pedigree, but had not seen images to get the date and code). Can you tell us what the alpha numeric code is on the book? It looks like 3D, but I wanted to check. I'll update the camp census to include the notes All-American Comics #59 "Okajima""5-9-44" "3D"

210 Is just so dynamic and fluid (which is funny since it's underwater) I feel like colorwise it's a little washed out (hah!) and nothing pops in terms of the colors, but the action and motion cant be denied...

And I've expressed my reservations about EC books (Rick that WS20 is in GREAT shape with some super deep colors!) Letting the title consume 40% of the comic cover is a disgrace considering the quality of artists they had drawing those covers! Thus no EC books in my collection so far... (though from time to time I do get tempted...

Rick, I've always been partial to FF213, it just feels a little Kirby tech, or Woods maybe along with the Frazetta sweetness... and some awesome composition elements... (followed by 210 and 214, though I think 214 suffers from the scale of that giant red planet)

Hey look one of my dealers showed up in my thread! Everyone should have a jimbo in their hobby life... he always has the most interesting books... I also just realized that between my Earth Man on Venus and Detective #4 I went back to back with winged pixie alien covers (though I think the ones on Venus look far more inviting)!

And one more book to start today. I remember loving this cover from back when I first started collecting sci-fi and have been keeping an eye out for a nice looking mid grade copy. Space Action 1, the first issue of the title that only spanned three issues from Ace Magazines. Ace Magazines specialized in the non-hero flavor of comics, covering horror, crime, romance, and just a bit of sci-fi. Jim Gray attributed the cover art to Lou Cameron "I am almost certain that the cover to Space Action 1 is by Lou Cameron; the pose of the guy throwing the punch is pure Cameron. I think it's early, before his style really developed." Cameron also did other work in the 3 issue series. I really like the composition of the cover. Between the big looming planet in the background with its diagonal ring to the same diagonal direction of the action of the hero punching the villain on the cover its a great "big"cover, without feeling cluttered.

Thanks! It's a fun genre for sure and there's still a (relatively) affordable market out there for mid-grade copies of a lot of sci-fi books.

I've continued buying, lots of raws of late. I've been wanting a decent mid-grade copy of Space Detetective #1, but it has continued to ellude me. I've never been a big fan of the cover art for issues #2 (too guesome) or #3. Two midgrade copies were in a CLink auction a few months back, but went far higher than I was interested in chasing. A CBCS 5.0 went for $326, while a CGC 6.5 went for $751! I was amazed at the price hike for the 1.5 grade improvement. A CGC 4.0 went for $231 about 6 months earlier, so the book looks to be steady to slightly rising in mid grade (4.0-6.0). 19 on the census with 6 in F/VF or better. So a nice looking copy of Space Detective #4 came up here on the boards recently so I decided to pull the trigger. Not as sweet as the #1, but a nice book for sure. Like the damsel in distress aspect as well as the fact that all the females (alien or otherwise) are in pretty skimpy clothes while our hero is fully covered with a space helmet. Attack of the Wasp Women for sure!

I used to bind collections that I thought were good reads, but were never getting collected into TPBs/HCs. Most of the books were all $1 bin pulls, with the occasional issue that was pricey... I dont think I ever did find a cheap copy of Black Panther 22 for my set (DPool crossover). Alien Legion Atari Force HUman Target Spiderman 2099 Six from Sirus Starman Gotham Central Resurection Man THe Question (O'Neil) The 'Nam X-FOrce/X-Statix DC 1 Million Captain Carrot & Zoo Crew Black Panther (Priest) JUstice League International Quantum & Woody I pulled all these from the $1 bin, or from full run/bulk purchases on eBay where the cost/issue ended up being less than $1/issue.

Agreed, I've seen far worse copies fetching nearly $500 so $800 for this nice presenter (assuming it's all complete) is a nice price.

Anyone here win this beauty last night? Archie 50 in eBay nearly $800 for it, but it looks pretty sweet... thinking VG/FN range, though seller doesnt give many details on the condition so I had to pass... If it's more VG+ then that's a very strong price, but if it's FN thats a decent deal on a book that's hard to find in nice shape, and this one presents really well since all the condition problems are around the edges and nothing bothers that lovely image...

Well the February auction ended just in time for the March one to start.... Anyone else notice a lot of "relist"books? I swear I'm looking at 7 or 8 of the same books I bid on in December... most of which I thought went for fair market...

Missed one registry book a few months ago so went hard when the next was available in the latest CLINK. When I added it to the registry it was in someone elses registry, and after the transfer, surprise surprise it has been owned by the person in 2nd place in the registry. So I got to double my distance from second place AND add another pedigree Space Adventures book to my registry (now to get him to sell off a few more!)

I've seen plenty of sellers have Marvel only, or DC only sales threads... So it's not like sellers dont do just what you are hoping for anyway, and the ones that done... well no one is forcing you to scan thru the sales thread (wait is someone forcing you to scan thru the sales thread? Just post a smiley w/flower if yes, and smiley poke if no)

usually when trading, the guy getting the best book wins (or trading a quarter for 2 dimes and a nickel) . But with the AF15 being so low grade, and trimmed, and (in my opinion) pretty low on the "presentable" scale I think getting some BA keys, especially if it includes the BA icon IH181. Im actually surprised that the dealer would make the trade since moving one big book is likely to take longer than multiple nice BA keys. But maybe he has a buyer who's told him in the past "if you can ever get an AF15, let me know". I'd definitely want to be sure to get a good total value for the book so that it makes sense for you (as opposed to just selling the book and getting the cash and buying the books you want). If you told me it was a BA lot that included a nice condition IH181 and an ASM129 I'd say go for it. The other ones you mentioned are tier 2 to me (WWBN, ASM121), very nice, but not key-keys.
