  1. Slept thru my alarm, woke up to find I'd missed live bidding on most of my auctions of interest. Checked the outcomes and they almost all went for way over previous market, so I guess it was good that I didnt stay up all night? One more night to go, maybe I can keep myself awake this time...
  2. My personal rule was if the cover had all the other "Gothic horror" elements, but no white dress, I still kept it in...That night nurse just had to much of a Scooby Doo vibe for me...
  3. Here's my old collection, far from complete, and you've already bested me on some nicer copies! I'm looking forward to seeing your collection grow. The 70s gothic horror revival was definitely a DC thing, and yes you can find lots of beautiful pulps out there to tempt you as well! Heritage seems to frequently have the original art from those gothic horror paperback covers in their auctions, and it's lovely to see.
  4. And if those 80s teams had to play by modern rules they would all foul out by the half. Also the lesser training/conditioning make me think a run and gun offense would wear out a lot of those older guys even in their prime.
  5. Remember, Okajimas don't count anymore so go ahead and post em....
  6. Between the selling of books to pay for acquisitions and the selling of under copies for people's upgrades , seems like Cc will have some good content for a few auctions....
  7. @Ricksneatstuff arent you collecting red dresses?
  8. Still lurking in the weeds on 7 of 8 targets... The One has flown so high I'd need oxygen to bid on it...
  9. Im a huge baseball fan, and I love Wil Eisner's cover here for Baseball Comics #1 (of 1) depicting the Badgers vs Iron City Nine. From 1949, the book represents one of Will's attempts to break out of news paper publishing with The Spirit, that unfortunately did not lead to an issue #2 or more.
  10. Ok this lady is rough, subscription crease (ok not really a subscription crease, since this was probably not a subscription order, more likely a "fold it in half so no one sees the cover and shove it in my back pocket" crease) along with a ring "stain" (color loss, we'll see about water damage), and a rough spine... but Intimite Confessions #1 is one of those "Bombshell" bad girl covers, that you just cant hate, no matter the condition... Red dresss, blonde hair, stole, plunging neck line, this lady has it all! And she's mine.
  11. Just a classic GGA cover in my book, Torchy 4. There are quite a few great Torchy covers (really there are no losers in the 6 issue run). #4 though is the swimsuit edition, with the periscope gag (how do all those subs fit in that space!?!?!). The old piece of tape that is holding the tear in place on the bottom edge is actually on the back of the cover (with the adhesive making the discoloring thru the cover material). And some cheeky kid decided to draw on the first page in the margin to hide the fact that the cover's bottom corner was missing. Such a fun book to have, I dont care about the old "enhancements" This was my first GGA/Cheesecake cover as I started to expand my collection this year.
  12. Wings 61. Not the mintiest of copies, but I'll always pay $40 for a favorite cover as long as the cover image presents well. I love the deep colors in this copy. The blacks and dark browns drip. I love the Lee Elias cover with the two gunners back to back with each other, and the frame of the plan around them. The gunners with their oxygen masks so they can work in the open fuselage at higher altitudes. Just great details.
  13. I have two camp Okajimas, so it was hard deciding (it's like picking between kids!) but I decided to go with Raboy cover with Captain Marvel Jr. Seemed to be a favorite character of Ms O's and is the earlier of my two camp books.
  14. But using your framing the queation would be is it better to date a 9 or a pair of 7s? Both scenarios have their advantages...
  15. Can't read the notes... What do they say? Color touch to cover Pieces added to cover Cover detached, tape on cover, interior. Missing centerfold Did I miss anything?
  16. Wow that Archie 50 is going to be a Mylar All-Star for someone. Can't find a copy of Archie 50 that presents so well for that price anywhere!
  17. Beautiful copy of the #1. Imoressed yiu had the willpower to wait for just the right book. I would have just taken the first 4.0 home from the bar that gave me a second look.
  18. I put one wishful bid in at 2x Overstreet, but that didn't last long... This one checks All the boxes. Camp? Yep War subject? Yep Superhero? Yep Racial stereotype drawing of Japanese soldiers? Yep Heck it's even got bondage/ torture thrown in for good measure! Hmm maybe another bid...
  19. Currently over $2k (after Ha premium) and we still have live bidding to go. Already 2x market and more... Image for posterity...
