CGC Registry Set Cards included in rankings.

It does, but what's the issue with someone doing that? -
CGC Registry Set Cards included in rankings.
Sensei Ryan replied to 1986MoshPit's topic in CGC Registry (Sports Cards)
True that some cards are worth significantly more than others but it's not factual to say that more cards automatically = higher rankings. For example, someone could have 10/10 cards in a set (all at CGC 8/8.5/9) and another person have half the set at CGC 10 Gem/Pristine, and more often than not the higher graded cards in an incomplete set will trump the ranking of the complete set. So your claim about the Mantle cards actually contradicts your second claim about rankings being toast. Set rankings are both quantity AND quality. Someone could have 100 cards in their registry and no completed sets and still be highly ranked individually as a collector. To me, quality is more important than quantity but I aim for both. -

@1986MoshPit I'm only commenting on here as to provide some rationale for as to why some sets just have 1 card in them. For points to count toward a user's overall point totals (which is another aspect of the registry) the cards have to be included in a set of some kind....so some of those 1-card (or less than 20% of completion) sets are like that for this reason. Also, everyone has to start somewhere so I disagree with the OP's claim that these are lame. The CGC TC registry is still relatively new and it's subjective to assume 20% completion is asinine, especially considering some of these sets contain 500+ cards in them (20% completion in a 500+ card set, for example, is actually quite impressive in my opinion). Anyway just my thoughts on the matter! I do agree that the goal should be to attain 100% (or as close to it as possible) completion for registry sets, though! In some cases, however, that may not be possible or is likely impossible due to the rarity of some of these cards. -

The Official The Walking Dead Discussion Thread
Sensei Ryan replied to MutantKeys's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
I've talked with other boardies and friends on here at length in the past about how much $ could be made if and only if this series were to run/be rebooted on a different network. I mean, just imagine the savagery of Game of Thrones level viewing infused into a tv series of The Walking Dead on HBO, for example. Cable is what made it a household name but at the same time forced it into limitations that the comic did not adhere to which did not translate well in the later episodes as it just seemed too goofy. Also, the Negan brutality (which in my opinion should have been off the charts rawer than it was) turned off the cable viewers when in reality it could have been so much worse (again, imagine it on HBO and not AMC). At any rate, RK should find a way to get it on another network if that were even possible and quit with the cable-esque runs. I'd be fine with an entire reboot of new actors, even. It could revitalize what I feel is a dying universe. I feel 'meh' about an animated run...I enjoy Invincible but the choppiness of the animation annoys me so a real world real person show is what I'd prefer. I'm shocked RK hasn't done a TWD children's book at this point as I think that's the only medium it's not been exposed to as of yet (again, milking the cash cow for all it's worth). Reboot = Revitalization on a new network, is what I hope someday happens. Also, I can't believe there are still 96 issues to reprint in color...I am totally out of the buying modern comics stage (too expensive, too much drek, no resale value) so I just have a hard time believing it's worth it to Skybound to go the distance (but I hope they do for the collectors' sake). -

I know it has to be some sort of profit for them to reprint the entire run but I'm honestly surprised they didn't give it up by now. Kudos to them for sticking with it! Other than the book of Carol, are there any other series that are still going? Is Daryl done-done with his spin-off (outside of the Carol appearances he'll be making)? I am behind on my spin-off viewing so no spoilers plz but I was hoping the Daryl series would be it until a someday reboot. Milking the long dry cow on this is enough and I'd love it if AMC would sell off the rights to someone with bigger plans for the franchise. I know that probably won't happen but for a series that was once so popular that it had cons dedicated to just it happening all over the country to what it is now is just sad to me...so much more could be done with it if the right person/company got control of it. (clears throat) Hey guys! In an attempt to resurrect (see what I did, there?) a really old thread, I hear there are some really hard to find WD #1 Store Variant Reprints hitting the eBay auction market as we speak. Not that anyone is looking for them currently...but if anyone is...I'd look for them on there as there is a good chance that once they're gone, they're gone. Don't blink or else you'll miss them! On another note, is anyone still collecting the deluxe version reprints? Is Skybound still putting them out? If so, does anyone know how the sales are doing because I'd be surprised that the profit margin is substantial on them if so. Hope all is well, fellow dead-heads! Here's to a future revival/resurgence of TWD popularity someday (and for a network/movie deal not inhibited to cable-like restrictions so the true savagery of TWD universe can be felt!!!)! ~Sensei -

Love this combo of characters (a new 'Amalgam' of sorts lol). The only thing that would drive me insane about this cover is Mickey's ears not matching up with Cap's wings on his mask...I mean there's gotta be symmetry (and I hate that when Mickey turns his head they make his ears follow in a non-sensical manner...but that's a disney thing and doesn't work for this art, IMO). Still love it in general, though!!!

@StillOnly25Cents It saddens me to see you leave over this but I understand the disappointment in hypocrisy over how some businesses can be discussed but not the ones with friends who are clearly higher ups. To me, if I were the higher up who is protecting my friend, I would care more about the company I work for and about protecting their reputation (in a time that it is so desperately needed) and to not affiliate myself with someone who makes my employer look bad. The good news is, the Better Business Bureau is impartial and if you do a quick Google search you can see you're not alone in the disappointment of how you are being treated by who took your money but didn't deliver on their product (not CGC but the business in question who took your money and we aren't allowed to name, for clarity). Shady business practices deserve to be outed, regardless of who the shady dealers are friends with here. I personally love CGC and will continue to showcase my collections with them and only them over any other grading company and if I worked for them would do my best to expunge/weed out any bad apples that would be giving them negative publicity. Surely I'm not crazy in thinking that it would better serve them to do this, right?

How is this forum any proof of CGC being unpopular? Just because a lot of people complain on here you mean or that there just aren't many posters? I do note that there's not as much activity in the trading card section as there is for the comic section but once again this is a relatively new company (the other main competition is over 30 years old, right, so they have an edge as far as history goes due to that fact). In about 10 years if it's still this 'still' around here then I can see it being an issue. Regarding the market data, that is correct based on my own research. However, I am happy about that because it helps me get the cards I collect for much cheaper (plus the slabs look so much nicer). Are the labels you are talking about the blue ones? I haven't seen another so I'm not sure what god awful label you're talking about because I prefer the black labels AND old blue labels over the red blah PSA ones any day (but again I was a CGC comic collector first so that may make me biased since the old card labels are pretty much equivalent to the comic labels). Side to side the PSA slabs compared to the new (or in my opinion old) CGC one there is just no comparison when it comes to eye appeal. Like you, I am not into the Omega thing (at least you give me the impression you're not, either) but exactly how is it a bad business strategy if it is giving them an increase in submissions? Isn't that good for a business - to have more business? Not good for us collectors to increase TaT's but good for the company, right? In fairness, though, I would prefer the TaT's be faster since I need to make a few submissions of my own here soon lol. I agree that the relationship with dealers is a conflict of interest - only if it is determined that they are given gift grades - but without proof of that it's just speculation and one could easily surmise a dealer would be a big supplier of a grading company since they deal in the same product the grading company grades...that's just common sense. And what company wouldn't use social media to influence it's target audience? All companies that care about staying around do this...and I'm surprised CGC hasn't made it to TikTok yet lol. It may be annoying, but it's the 21st century and to stay relevant a social media presence is needed (and I like finding out news that I was unaware about online so this to me is a no brainer and isn't a conflict of interest). I do agree about changing the grading scale AFTER launching, though...thankfully I wasn't a big part of that as I primarily started collecting around the time that hit but I understand how collectors would be more than unhappy about it. New company to the card grading game will come with some hiccups, though...even if they're annoying at times.

Could I have googled it? Yes...but I didn't take what you said as literally a 'courtyard.io vending machine' as I didn't realize something like this exists. I'm too old for this concept but it does sound cool. So it's like a digital vending machine where you can opt to keep cards you pull in their vault and/or resell if not happy with them...futuristic for sure but beyond me lol. Thanks for the info - I honestly wouldn't have guess something like this existed but clearly I was wrong. I'm just a Marvel Trading Card guy after all (mostly, that is)
