  1. just moved a decent amount (over $1k) out of one account, to another, and then to a US checking acount. Showed up 1 day after the deposit request.
  2. anytime you can get mid-grade GA book for less than $1/year, you dont think you just "Take it!"
  3. There's an equation Start of con season + # of days for cgc turn around time = date of a spike in Ss offerings...
  4. I would say "opportunity to acquire" is a reasonable factor to also consider. Granted jim83 and ih181 are broth in the market readily there is a difference... 17 JIM83 sales in last 12months (combining 2.5 and 3.0 sales) Vs 33 IH181s that have sold in GPA reporting markets So it will be twice as easy to replace a 9.0 Ih181 than a 2.5-3.0 JIM83
  5. Great book! Maybe the third '43 book I've seen, quite a nice addition
  6. Helping is good, and Im all for it, but isn't this the sort of thing that business insurance is for?
  7. Simple. When the MCU took off Marvel put their focus on the properties that they owned the movie rights to (Avengers, Ironman, Cap etc). Spiderman would have probably suffered the same fate, but Joe Q loves spidey, so no way he was getting back burnered. But since there was no one banging the drum for the F4 in the marvel offices, they moved down a rung since marvel didnt own the movie rights, so why put efforts into promoting a property you can only profit off in print?
  8. So weird....this guy says he had a book listed on ebay that he sold to an unnamed boarde for a GPA record price (and is using this fact to try and sell another copy of the same book) but there's no record of the book even being offered on ebay (stabbed, in the grade or otherwise), is it possible to pull a listing and haven't not show in the "completed listing" list for either the sellerID or in the general listing? It only happens d a few days ago so it would still be there right? I assume he didn't consulate the deal on ebay, but pulled the listing so to avoid the eBay fees, but wouldn't there still be some record of the listing?
  9. Thought the same thing, so now I'm on the hunt for the Gga version of this scene!
  10. Just picked this up in the auction. Thought the price was good considering a 4.5 went for $387 last month and I paid less than a third... Plus only 3 on census, and last issue in run, and it's just a crazy awesome cover. I watched a few books pass by, looks like the few hours books went for full market, while the rest (and there weren't many interesting books in this auction) went for discounts. The Super-mystery seemed to enjoy drafting off the Berks heat from last week.
  11. A great cover at a good price considering a 4.5 went for $387 last month.
  12. Geoff Johns run from 2005 is pretty great.
  13. I always thought his relationship with his sister and with is father were far more interesting than Quick or his powers... I think DC did a far more interesting take (over the course of time) with the super power of "speed" with Flash.
  14. Shortly after I discovered these boards I decided to put together a collection of 70s gothic horror around the theme of the "Lady in White" even creating a scoring matrix and journaling about each discovery/purchase. Here are most of the books once I finished the colelction (yes I know some of them arent in white dresses, but they were too perfect to exclude) Here is my multi-year journal collecting the theme And here's when I sold ém I held on to a few to commemorate the collection, and I recently re-bought one that was offered here on the boards. What can I say, they are beauties! The collection will always be special to me cause it was one of the things that helped cement me in this community, even after I moved on to collecting GA books.
  15. Would think Metro would have pretty good estimate base on the number of unique bidders in the Berks auction...can't imagine there were many GA collectors who steered clear of that opportunity....
  16. Been looking for a copy of this for years that wasnt too pricey
  17. Well I got closed out of two lovely Space Western comic books from the amazing John Berk collection that was auctioned last week at ComicConnect. I was ready to bid big, but someone was ready to bid bigger... The CGC 6.0 copy of SW40 went for $611, and the $6.0 copy of #43 went for $650 (these are my two favorite covers from the run). I was ready to $500 each, but when both went past that point I had to walk away. BUT the good news, is that it means my war chest was full when a few books came up here and on eBay. Two books that have been on the top of my want list for years. First up, the aforementioned Famous Funnies #213. Coming from Jimbo, a nice looking (cant wait to get it in hand) copy. Complete and all attached. Some chipping at the top, but nice deep colors. I love Frazetta's Kirby-esque details on the ship, and the detailed rendering And then the other book I fought for on eBay sunday night. Another Frazetta lovely that I've been hunting for a copy of for years. Mid-grade copies hit $500+ in the last few years, so it became a search for a decent condition copy, and I've got my fingers crossed for this one. Cant wait to get it in hand... Buster Crabbe 5 Again, if I had won a Berks book, I wouldnt have had the bank to get both of these, and would have had to play sophie's choice with them.... so everything works out in the end!
