  1. Looks like the weekday summer audiences are going to cut into the weekend. Comparing vs BvS, Suicide Squad made more on it's first Tuesday than BvS (which didnt have the kids out of school advantage). But does that mean it's pulling from it's second weekend audience early (more front loading!) and we're more likely to see an increase in the drop vs weekend 1?
  2. Dont know about tape , but I used to go to a store in georgia that got old dealer and distributor stock by the longbox in great shape. Theyd mark the box as $1/book and run a marker down the top of the long box leaving a little mark atthe top of every book (so some jerk couldn't just unbag a $20 book and say it came from the $1 bin).
  3. In a large flat-rate box there's plenty of room to protect three slabs, and they can also be double-boxed with that setup. as the OP says a "flat rate box for $15" which would not be a large flat rate box that would be a medium flat rate box.
  4. You didnt say how the books were ACTUALLY shipped.... I could package 3 slabs in such a way that it cost $27 to ship them. If he just crammed 3 slabs into a flat rate box, and that's what you got, neg him.
  5. Im wondering if it wont even make it out of the first weekend before the drop starts... Typical 1st weekend breakdown for the big superhero premiers is... 43/31/26 Summer behavior breaks down as 40/34/26 (so a little better on Saturday) but it wouldnt surprise me if SSq matched BvS or even was more Friday weighted. BvS broke down its $166m first weekend 49/31/20. Maybe SSq breaks 50% of its first weekend on Friday... Right now we're looking at a 48/29/23 breakdown... So pretty darn close to the frontloading like BvS (even though it didnt get as much of a push as BvS). Amazing considering this was the summer and usually those breakdowns are MORE even, not less. So that means we'll be looking for another high 60% drop off for week two...
  6. DC knew they had a stinker, who do you think paid for all those Fandango free tickets?
  7. IM2, IM3 and AoU sucked large Im a huge marvel fan, and I 100% agree!

  9. Keeping in mind they gave him Harley's prop bat for his daughter, so he kinda has to say nice things, right? http://www.ew.com/article/2016/01/31/suicide-squad-harley-quinn-bat-kevin-smith-daughter It would be easy to assume so. But as much as Kevin Smith is associated with DC, he came down hard on Batman v Superman from his initial viewing. So I would like to assume he will speak his mind if he doesn't care for the film. I think his criticism of BvS had more to do with him trying to position himself for a shot at directing a future DC movie (since he's been linked to numerous Batman scripts, and his buddy Ben is the current B-Man)
  10. I love looking at the bob-and-weave positive quote.... -leads off saying he loved the directors other stuff -says this movie "doesnt look like any other comic book flick" (which isnt the same as saying it's good) -cast being "top notch" just means they're good actors, doesnt mean they're good in the movie or the movie is good. -he loved the easter eggs! (you and every other comic book fan who fawns over Hollywood validating the existence of 80 years of comic book history) -and finally he defers a basic reaction "loved it" to his KID! The guys is ebullient over just about all comic book movies. So a very positive Kevin Smith is like most people's "meh" review. On Cap/Civil War he said it was "shoulder to shoulder with The Dark Knight" which he calls "the Godfather 2 of comic book movies"
  11. Im betting he's going to claim that the CF was intact when he shipped it. Any idea when he got back in the states? Per process, did you PM him telling him he's nominated and giving him a link to his PL nomination? I have a bad feeling this is all a moot point and he's not coming back to the boards (at least not under his current ID) again.... Sorry man, that does suck. Especially since at the moment you're out both the money and the book...
  12. Middling stuff that take more effort than it's worth to sell I just stack up in priority boxes and have a free mystery box sale (just pay the cost of shipping). I know mystery boxes arent allowed, but I'd think free mystery boxes would be ok (right?!?!) Spreads boardie good will, and gets you plenty of nice comicbook karma in return.
  13. I think the ending was designed to leave just enough hints and open threads (but not full on cliffhangers) that there's the potential to either continue this story/town/era in a second season, or to leave it as stand alone (and let peoples minds wander about the loose threads) (specifics in spoiler tag)
  14. I agree that I prefer to see a grade, but I do understand why putting a grade down does draw a line in the sand, and there are a decent number of "buyers" here that will ALWAYS play the "now that I have the book in hand I think it's more of a ____(one grade lower)____ can I get a partial credit back?" I do think the best think is a scan and a description. Nothing to dispute then. If I sell a book and I say it has a 1/2 inch spine split from the top and you get a book with a 1/2 inch spine split from the top then there's ZERO wiggle room. Now if I just call that VG+ and then you come back and say "gee it' really looks more like a G/VG to me now that I have it... how about a credit back?"....
  15. I'm not familiar with Patrick the Transformer, what does he turn into?
  16. With GA books, especially of popular titles scarcity plays a big role. Look at the census. 13 graded copies of Batman 4 90 graded copies of detective 45 plus batman 4 is the better cover, fo' sho' Villians are valued less than heroes because they are not in every month, so they will never be as important as the hero (Case in point, there's only one Superman but he has many villians, thus the villians 1st appearances are less valuable) I will say i think Superman #30 with the first Mr Mxyzptlk is surprisingly affordable, and I've always liked [REDACTED what am i doing, dont tell him, at least not until i get my copy]
  17. X-Men 150 and X-Men 112 are my favorites...
  18. i dont care about the haggling, but if it was me I'd have just bought it (as part of the bunch) why? cause you know what the dealer (almost) always does when you haggle? he looks at the books again. he thinks about the books for a second. and all of that is a opportunity for him to either decide "oh that book shouldn't be in the 50 cent bin" or something. So you walk up, say they came from the 50 cent bin, you pay, and you leave.
  19. Maybe, but remember Poltergeist's Dominque Dunne who died tragically after the film's release at the hands of her jealous boyfriend. They just wrote her out of the movie as being "away." They could do the same with him being reassigned in Starfleet (history being re-written after all, thanks Nero) and bring in an all-new character. I thought about this a lot after Leonard Nimoy passed and what would happen to the Old Spock character. We might have a Fast7 scenario here. They put him in the movie (using cuts from the earlier two movies and CGI, heck maybe even body double) and give him a farewell. not to be crass, but the studios saw it translate into $$$ for F7, so they'll be interested in it here too... though it will be weird if they dont recast and there's no Checkov on the bridge for any future movies, I really liked him paired with Cho as Sulu... my money is on recasting for the next movie, cant imagine they let an IP character go away.
  20. I can see the perspective of not wanting to over-reach the boards "authority" since this was an ebay transaction though it did involve two boardies (granted the "offender" is not an oft used account) I can also see the perspective of of wanting to HOS a board memeber who manufactured and sold comic books with an explicit intent to defraud the buyer, even if that transaction occurred elsewhere. BUT, and here's the big one. We don't KNOW he was creating the books or that he was aware of their fake-ness when he sold them (he is careful even when he admits that the friend was manufacturing them that the seller says he didnt know they were fake at the time of sale). So since we dont know, it's hard to be definitive in judgement... and if there's a reasonable doubt, then i guess you have to go no on the HOS. Im glad the OP got his money back in full.
  21. keep checking them from time to time over the next few months, apparently sometimes the waviness occurs over time due to ongoing pressure of the slab on the book. And I say it's never a bad bet to swap two second tier keys for a first tier key! Though you might want to wait until the Punisher show is getting ready to drop before selling the 129. It got some heat after DD season2 came out, and after the Punisher show news, but maybe it's cooled a bit (by comparison, it's always a desirable book)? I'd have to check.
  22. Some of you might know my modest OA collection was lost during a transatlantic move a few years ago. Well now that I am again gainfully employed, I can start to rebuild my collection. My portfolio was filled with Green Lantern art, mostly from the 80s, but some more recent pieces by Reis and EVS. So a piece came up in the current ComicConnect auction and after some "extended bidding" it was mine. I love Staton before he got a little to blocky and cartoony, and this one is a nice early 80s page with lots of Corps members included.
  23. Most times its referred to as his bones have been laced, infused or reinforced with adamantium... so there are still bones there, just the adamantium makes them stronger. So yeah, Logan should probably still drink his milk... calcium is also used for muscle flexing (its released to stimulate the contraction) and Wolverine does plenty of flexing, so again. drink up bub!
  24. I was curious about that as well. It didn't sound like a joke to me. yeah and the "deadbeats have good taste" comment could in theory be ascribed to either Dr X or the OP.... come to think of it I dont know which one he meant!
