  1. From my collection... 7 Jokers are better than 1!
  2. When I was working on my FF run, it took me a long time to find a 17 that I liked. I think I ended up with a pretty nice 6.5.
  3. I couldn't agree more. Chances are, there are deviants of some sort lurking on every large chat board. I won't post pictures of my kid for that very reason. Moreover, I always scratch my head when people share embarrassing personal news or information in such a public way. These days, everyone from prospective employers to prospective significant others are Googling you as a matter of practice. I know of one case personally where someone torpedoed a good job opportunity because they had sexually suggestive photos on their MySpace page (along with a smoking a joint photo.) Sites like Archive.org will store web pages indefinately. What will your next girlfriend think when she happens to find your current tale of woe plastered all over a chat board?
  4. Big thanks to CW for helping me obtain my first SS submissions. Signature placement exactly as requested!
  5. It was a Hulk 2 with a rat chew into the center portion of the book.
  6. Agreed. Tweaks look great. Horsey font needs to go down a size.
  7. Yeah... I just don't get it. Sure the colors suck and there are other glitches, which WILL be corrected. In the grand scheme of things, this is stuff so small it's laughable. As I write this, people are dying, going broke and suffering in truly horrible ways. And, a number of CGC Forumites are person_without_enough_empathying because their chat board ain't the way it used to be. People, get a grip. Moreover, why were people coming here in the first place? Because of the snazzy features or because of the sense of community and the people?
  8. Major props to ComicsandCode (Peter) for a well-graded FF 15. BTW, he said Page Quality was Cream. I think it's Off White.
  9. Good question. I ordered from them a few times and was pleased with the service. I presumed they went under when the speculator craze died. A lot of their offerings were geared toward people buying multiple copies to get the retailer variants, etc.
  10. There's a bit of distributor overspray on the back and 2 very small finger dents that I could barely see at an angle. There's a very tiny mark on the LLC Back that is barely visible in-hand, yet looks darker in the scan. I don't see anything that would preclude it from a 9.0 and that's what I would grade it if it was raw. I'll check the grader's notes next week, but Jerry told me there was nothing of substance in the notes and nothing that wasn't already evident.
  11. Thanks to Jeranimal for the best looking 8.0 in the universe... Great wrap, stunning colors and no pecker tracks.
  12. Kudos to Jeranimal for quick shipping and bulletproof packaging!
  13. Thanks to FT88 (Ed) for a nice stack of well-graded copper Hulks!
  14. A big thanks to tkg2627 (Vince) for a super tight Joker 2 NM (maybe NM+) at a good price and delivered fast! Also thanks to Quality Comix for a nice stack of tightly graded (by Nikos) books.
  15. Well, there are 13 in this grade and none higher. It's a real beauty. How much did you pay? $69. It was weird... the seller listed this along with a bunch of assorted regular issues of the Invaders all CGC 9.6 and all priced at $69. I couldn't believe he had this at the same price as issues like Invaders 29 CGC 9.6. I've seen raw "NM" copies of this book go for $50+. Since I've been looking for a CGC 9.4 or better for over a year, I hit BIN very quickly.
  16. Also put in lowball bids on Star Wars 1 CGC 9.6 and this book and won both. I was especially happy with the Spider-Woman because this book is so frequently miswrapped and has that horrible white line along the spine. Perfect centering. The Star Wars 1 has perfect centering as well and that book is almost always miswrapped.
  17. From the Western MO collection. 9.0 type spine and corners. Small crescent thumb crease on right edge brings it down a notch or two...
  18. Just came in the other day. Hit a BIN on ebay and got a deal. I think... Seems like a tough book in grade.
  19. I picked up the Rosa copy last year for $8. Great cover with perfect centering. But, wow, what a crappy story. Unreadable.
  20. Agreed. My purchases from GACollectibles were tightly graded 9.2 and 9.4 books. Also importantly, they arrived securely and quickly.
  21. Mark, I don't think anyone was expecting him to run out yesterday or today and scan it in response to this thread. But haven't people been asking for years? Given that he's owned the book for more than two decades and the number of people who have allegedly seen it can be counted on two hands, one must conclude he's not eager to let people see it.
  22. Short of an explanation from Anderson, it's all speculation. However, not sharing an image of the book says something. Depending on your worldview, **what** it says may vary.
  23. I'm not making any excuses for bad behavior and incivility. That said, as of late, there has been an elitism -- some of it subtle, some not -- creeping into some threads. Comments along the lines of "the most important people -- that is, people who own big books -- stay away from here because of x, y or z." In other words, we, the uncivilized rabble, are reminded that we are not worthy of their time, effort or participation. This rubs me the wrong way. And it's especially ironic in that these paragons of virtue who deign not to lower themselves to this level are some of the same people who are at the epicenter of many of the hobby's most sordid and unsavory affairs.
