The fact that a book as expensive as the Pacific Coast Hulk 1 has been resubbed many times tells me that the more expensive/rare/highly sought after a book is, the more likely it is that it'll have a "checkered" resub history. Combine that with your point about overgraded/overworked books and the astronomical rise in the prices of many key books, and you can only conclude that buyers will continue to get far less for their collecting dollar. If I had money that I couldn't afford to lose tied up in books, I'd be dumping like it's hot. A little data to support a rational argument. Here's a snapshot of the PC TOS run. These books were run through the ringer multiple times. High grade to start with, but that wasn't quite enough. Every squeeze was undertaken to maximize their monetary potential... Master Chief... Sadly, we know your hard drive is chock full of similar charts.

I don't have much to add except to echo the chorus and offer some support. It was a classless, sneaky thing to do to a fan, and you did nothing to deserve it. Hopefully you'll make some lemonade out of lemons and sell this piece of junk for a hefty profit.

I highly doubt anyone knows So do I. But the claim has been made in this thread with no evidence to back it up. I think supapimp is just assuming. Doubt he has hard evidence. If anyone had hard evidence they would have already posted it. If they had the evidence and not posted it I would want to know why. There is the rumor that some [anonymous] board member received a Ewert statement in a package from ComicLink. Obviously left in the box by mistake. True or urban myth? This would have to be filed under "myth" until evidence is produced.

Great guy to deal with and a good grader. (thumbs u

that 5guys burgers is pretty good too...yum 5guys burgers are last meal worthy (thumbs u The news did a piece on them the other night. One 5 guys burger has the same # of calories as 2 quarter pounders from McDonalds. Wonder if that includes mayo and other toppings? I'm happy with just the burger, cheese, pickle, lettuce, raw onion and ketchup. I may need to go there for lunch today now...

This all happened in 2003. Over the years, I've always scanned auctions and posted scans in various places just in case the book surfaced. It never really occurred to me to file a police report for something that I willingly shipped to someone. I can't imagine the local police getting involved in something like this. I had all my documentation through Paypal and I did file a report with the Postal Service if I recall correctly. In retrospect, I probably should have just to have a paper trail as you suggest. Now, all I have are my emails with Paypal and letters from the NYS AG, etc.

I battled Paypal for almost a year, filing complaints with many sources, including the NYS Attorney General (who sided with me and referred to PayPal's policy as "self-serving.") The reason I did not qualify for "sellers protection" is because I accepted payment in two installments. The buyer sent me $100 and told me he'd have the balance after he sold some books in a week. After he paid in full, I shipped. I was not aware, at the time, that accepting payment in more than one installment voids Paypal Seller protection.

Thanks! nice of ya I would need more information regarding the details of this.. can you send me a private PM (unless you dont care..then just put it here Did you buy a ff1 which was never shipped to you? or, did you sell it to someone and they never paid for it? I'm confused I shipped a FF 1 to a buyer. Book was delivered per delivery confirmation and positive feedback was left. 45 days later I got a Paypal charge back claiming someone unauthorized used the Paypal account and I had to give the money back. In effect, someone used a Paypal account to steal a FF 1 from me. I can PM further details.

When the whole Ewert scandal broke, FT, Bronze Bruce and others posted a long list of ebay IDs of those who had purchased from Ewert. Groups of volunteers (I among them) contacted the buyers to apprise them of the free CGC recheck. It was a great effort. In essence, the same exact thing Mark did, yet there was no "privacy concerns" in that instance. If anything, Mark should have given a bit more info at the very beginning rather than try to be "discreet." There is no "discreet" on a public message board.

In all fairness, the buyer may have bought the book completely unaware someone else had it on hold, thus he is caught in the middle of a dispute between two other parties. The fact that he had it in his sig line would indicate to me he was unaware there was any issue regarding the book. He may be waiting for a response from the seller, and frankly I can't blame him for not jumping into the drama. And if I had a book that was the center of a dispute, I'd probably take it out of my sig line until the issue was resolved.

Good call. John is/was a really good dude. I got the impression that life got in the way of collecting and he had to sell off most or all of his books. He loved him some late Bronze Marvels . . . John is well, but not actively collecting now.
