  1. I can't decide if this thread makes me want to collect more GA comics...

or just give up and quit altogether. I have all my 40 or so low grade beaters carefully stored in double-bagged mylars, acid free boxes, dehumidified room. And here you are with a lottery winning-sized collection, books in stacks, and unbagged even!

You took the words right out of my keyboard. I'll never be satisfied with my piddly little collection, since this is the type of collection I've always daydreamed about having but never had the foreskin to aquire and hold.My collection looks like a small pile of poo now. Another obsession has run it's course. I think I'll start grafting rhodies. Can you imagine what my Black Hand will do the delicate plant tissue? BwaaHaahaahaa!

  2. Mr Bannzoom, have you recieved any offers from board members and dealers to buy any of your books? That was suggested by someone, but I find it hard to believe that any board members would try to swoop down on a new poster to try and get his collection. Have you received any high pressure offers from any board members?

  3. I'd be curious to hear what kind of offers and PM's Bang Zoom had recieved in the last day or so. I'm sure they're mostly in the form of congratulations for having the nicest collection ever seen in recent memory and offers of pure friendship. I'd like to offer some guidance as to the proper storage of MLJ's, which have different needs over other books. Recent studies have shown that the only safe environment for MLJ's is my comic book closet, with it's unique micro climate, perfect for Archie and his superhero buddies.

  4. I read this thread with great interest because I find human longevity, and the completely different eras that a human life can span, fascinating. To think that Mr. Flessel was drawing classic comic book covers, on the ground floor of the medium, while FDR was president and Lou Gehrig was hitting homers for the Yankees. And to still be drawing....wow.

Why hasn't DC commissioned him to do a new cover for a modern issue of Detective? How cool would that be?

That is a great idea! Can any powers on these boards facilitate that?

  5. The guy on the cover looks a bit like Paul Muni the actor, don't you think? One of the things I got out of reading this is an even greater appreciation for Segal and Schuster. I really like their pre Superman stuff as well as their Superman work. I enjoyed the rest too, but I'm going to leave the reviewing to those who are better at it than I am.
