  1. If I read only one monthly book it would be MP. Saga, on the other hand, is overhyped and a fairly mediocre book that I'll likely drop soon.

+1 re what you say on MP.

-1 re what you say on Saga, which I also think is very good.

By the way, if anyone is not following Pitarra on Twitter, I recommend that you do so... v amusing.

  2. The only piece of Saga OA in existence. I'd hold it for a while. At least till #13 comes out and prices go back up.
    .

If I were going to sell it, I would sell it while it's still 'the only piece of Saga OA in existence.' That's its main selling point, since it's not on the same level as any of Fiona's covers, IMO (no offense, Jimmy - nice score landing it).

So theres another variant for Saga that has been announced?

I don't already have links to it?

So awesome that you of all boardies got this. Please take advantage of this opportunity to drive as many people crazy as possible - I look forward to its Youtube debut.

    Congratulations.

  3. Just finished an interview with Ryan Browne - Feel free to check it out..

Spoke a little about Bedlam and God hates Astronaust

    LINK - Ryan Browne

Haven't listened to the interview yet, but God Hates Astronauts is absolutely awesome. Managed to get in on the Kickstarter and waiting for my book, but for those who didn't, you should check it out online.

  4. I genuinely hope Hickman never reads this thread. Same goes for most other creators of moderns. I honestly can't imagine what they would think about 95%+ of posts being about how people can or can't make money off their books.

  5. What would a full series run go for?

    1a,b,c

    2a,b

    3a,b

    4

    5

    6

    7

    8

    9

    10

    is that all of them?

If all NM or better..... (Adding...... Carry the two)......

    I'd say, $350 to $400.

#1 first and second prints account for about $200 of that total.

#4 has a second print as well - many pages back I posted a picture of all of the covers - you can see it there.

  6. Perfect transaction - quick payment and Kev was patient when being knocked over by a motorbike  prevented me from shipping as quickly as I would have liked!

Will not hesitate to deal again.

  7. Please don't misconstrue my person_without_enough_empathying, I just didn't like the one book. I love this arc, and Negan is better than the Governor to me, #108 just left me shrugging my shoulders.

    Jim

I like Negan as a character more than the Gov as well. I just don't "hate" him like hated the Gov. I think Negan and Lucille will play a different role in Rick's world.

Who knows though. I'm along for the ride regardless.

I also prefer Negan - it's like someone wrote above: besides killing Glenn, he hasn't actually done anything all that terrible. I can believe that he thinks that the odd bit of ultra-violence is necessary to keep people in line.

Contrast with the governor, who liked to make out with zombie children, chop people's heads off and keep them in fish tanks and all the other horrible stuff. There's a difference between being evil and cheerfully unhinged.

    here we go:

    Racist

PUTS HOT IRONS ON PEOPLE'S FACES

Sleeps with other peoples' wives daily

Killed Glen with a baseball bat

psychologically mind effed Carl in 106

    Raider

    potty mouth

Yeah. He's a good guy? :screwy:

Except of course that I didn't say he was a good guy. Anyway:

    Racist - evidence for this?

PUTS HOT IRONS ON PEOPLE'S FACES - in theory at least, he does this to keep people in line and make sure they follow his rules. Rick wanted to hang the murderer guy in the prison, and he shot the doctor in Alexandria.

Sleeps with other peoples' wives daily - they can choose whether or not to be his "wife", according to both him and Dwight.

Killed Glen with a baseball bat - I said apart from that

psychologically mind effed Carl in 106 - did he? Carl seems fine. Most people would have expected him to hurt or kill him.

    Raider - so is everybody

potty mouth - um, so? Doesn't make him a bad guy

Racist - evidence for this? Go back and read the exchanges between Rick and Negan on Glenn. Duh.

PUTS HOT IRONS ON PEOPLE'S FACES - in theory at least, he does this to keep people in line and make sure they follow his rules. Rick wanted to hang the murderer guy in the prison, and he shot the doctor in Alexandria. Dude, you're justifying a guy ironing someone's face? Read what you just typed.

Sleeps with other peoples' wives daily - they can choose whether or not to be his "wife", according to both him and Dwight. And why was this an "option" in the first place? Do wives just all of the sudden say "hey hun, i'm gonna start having sex with this psycho" for no reason? They did it because he's an AWFUL HUMAN BEING. You know you're dealing with a terrible person when the only option to living a decent life is by putting a fissure in your relationship by sleeping with a psycho. Next.

Killed Glen with a baseball bat - I said apart from that Ha!

psychologically mind effed Carl in 106 - did he? Carl seems fine. Most people would have expected him to hurt or kill him. What a nice guy!

Raider - so is everybody This is your only point i can sort of agree with

potty mouth - um, so? Doesn't make him a bad guy This was a throw away. More just kidding than anything.

Just realized i became "that guy" on the boards. Don't want to be "that guy." Five years ago me would kick current me's for arguing about a comic. On the internet. On a message board.

    IRON MY FACE, PLEASE.

I'm on the iPad so can't type a full response - just wanted to say that I still don't see at all where you've got the idea that he's racist. Are you talking about him referring to Glenn as 'Asian'? Perhaps I'm being dense but I really don't see it. Example?

I'm going to repeat, as it doesn't seem to have registered: I am not saying that Negan is a good guy, or a nice guy. I'm not saying that the way he acts is 'justified'. I'm saying he hasn't done anything particularly more terrible than anyone else, apart from killing Glenn. Don't forget Rick has done some pretty mental stuff too - he didn't need to torture and kill the cannibals, for example.

  10. WD would do well to focus more on the core theme of the series...survival in a post-apocalyptic world

Wasn't that more the "year one" theme though? Obviously it's still relevant, but there's a definite thematic shift towards society building now.

The majority of the characters now are experienced survivors - see how rarely people are getting killed by zombies (I can't remember which issue the last zombie death was in).

Also no sure what you mean by "would do well" to - the series is more popular now than it's ever been!

  11.

Nice one. Think I can hazard a gues at filling in the blanks for:

"Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to ping pong my [bLANK] all over these [bLANK]!"

    Negan :cloud9:

Negan is such a terrible character and a blatant rip off of the Governor.

Disagree, I think the Governor is a poor mans Negan. Negan has way more layers and is far less one dimensional than the Governor was.

    Jim

    Really?

I feel like we've seen this all before.

This isn't new to me. And I completely disagree with the layers aspect. Governor was shocking (with Michonne, the TV heads was completely off kilter, his zombie daughter, etc). The fact that deep down, he couldnt put his daughter away, etc. THAT is layers to me.

Negan is just.... a bully. One who effing curses in effing the weirdest eff effing sentence eff structure effer ever.

I can't wait til this storyline is done. I've loved the Walking Dead since the start, and the first 80 or so issues was probably one of the best long runs I've ever read in comics but I feel like I've read this all before. I don't even know where they are going with his. I don't feel anxious to read the next issue. I don't care. Just move on from this governor wanna be hack that can't string a sentence together.

Surely if you've read it all before then you know exactly where it's going...?

Joking apart, Negan has also done plenty of shocking things. And I think his treatment of Carl shows the kind of 'layering' that I think you're talking about. So does his recognition that you need to show two faces - in his case, 'inside' and 'outside' his group - in order to be a successful leader.

The governor was in charge of a much smaller community, much nearer to the beginning of the post-zombie world. Negan would have Fd his S up.

  12.

I don't know about obscure but I agree that is only a small appearance and her first full appearance is #7

This is her in issue #1 though

    Harper-Row-Batman-1.jpg

    OK, genius..

    unnamed.

    Better?

Your such a lovely fellow. I couldn't possibly understand how you have got such a bad name.

    Board Trolls and jealousy. 2c

Because it couldn't possibly be his abrasive attitude, I was only trying to be helpful.

    Sure..

In a typical board troll arrogant, condescending fashion..

When I give it right back you guys all cry...

Buy Batman #1, if you feel it's the better buy..

    I'll buy #7's..

You're mental. Did you even read what he wrote above the scan?

I don't know about obscure but I agree that is only a small appearance and her first full appearance is #7

There's nothing arrogant or condescending about that. Totally undeserved and unprovoked reaction by you.

  13. I tuned in just in time to see a Simon Cowell special (One Direction) pick up an award.

Well, my 11 yrd old niece will be happy.

    And there it is.

I could always take her to the Killing Joke gig I'll be attending in 3 weeks.

It'll be a Damascene experience for her. lol

    Damaging, I think you mean.

  14. How long does he plan on this series to run? Anyone know?

Only that it's an ongoing. As far as I'm aware, not many creators have a specific number of issues in mind when they start on something like this. I certainly haven't read anything suggesting otherwise from Hickman re MP.

  15. I posted this in the "Best looking comic book" thread yesterday and it was completely ignored .

Maybe it'll get more appreciation here. All the first print covers (released and solicited to date). Atomic bomb cover clearly visible as #3...
