  1. Here’s the next question: who else here has the complete run of a title from December 1949 to Jan 1960 with no holes?
  2. We slipped to page 2? That’s unacceptable. Found at my favorite local store today:
  3. Found at a retro store today. I’ve got a copy already, but for $19.99 I figured a spare wouldn’t hurt:
  4. "But it's an EC". There's your reason right there. It always amazes me how many low grade copies of that issue actually have the dot-the-dots penciled in; the joke is pretty obvious already.
  5. Congrats on completing the run! I really think Frontline Combat is the most consistently excellent of all the EC titles... there's not a bad story in the entire run in my opinion.
  6. 2nd Zatanna.... sort of. I'm somewhat surprised people don't try to hype that detail more.
  7. I think I only figured it out when PayPal told me I had sent money to Dez Skinn, but I can't remember for sure at this point. Comics International #27 was a flip book with "Warrior #27", sometime in the mid-90's. It reprinted the Grant Morrison story from #26 along with the conclusion to the story that hadn't been published with the cancellation of the title. Not sure if there were any other stories.
  8. The pulp forum would probably love to see that as well!
  9. My collection, I finished it off a few years ago; although I do want to find a Comics International #67 some day. The last few issues I needed I bought directly from Dez Skinn on eBay.
  10. Just so people have a frame of reference. I personally prefer the cover on the #5 over the #2, but they're both spectacular:
  11. 5, no question. It's easily the rarest comic book issue of MAD, you'll have a lot more chances to find #2. 5 is also the better issue in terms of contents, in my opinion.
  12. We may need to allow for the fact at least some of the bidders were figuring on Line Star's notorious tendency to undergrade. But your general statement is probably correct.
  13. An excellent start. Shock Suspenstories #9 has one of the most impressive lineup of stories they ever did. Weird Fantasy #17 has a spectacular cover and two absolute classic stories with "The Aliens" and "There Will Come Soft Rains", which is my all-time favorite EC story. It was one of only 3 issues I kept when I sold most of my EC's about 15 years ago to pay rent. I don't remember much about the Vault #27; it's one of the three EC's I sold and haven't replaced yet. I still love the cover, though. And the cover on the Tales #40 is great.
  14. Best I can find searching online: That's actually Vampirella Monthly #12, despite the cover title; and there were both a chromium variant and and a holofoil or holochrome variant. No clue which is the rarer or more valuable.
  15. Pretty sure, if it's deliberate, it's a tribute. The issue would have been on the stands around the time the Feldstein written Yellow Claw #1 was.
  16. These were $9 back in 2015. With shipping. Maybe not my best eBay grab long term, but one of the most memorable “wow, these were poorly described “ pickups.
  17. In today. Now I’ve just got to find a copy of #3 that I like... and that’s not going to be easy, I fear.
  18. I sometimes say the best comic book artist of all time was Wally Wood on a good day... but he had a lot of bad days as well, particularly later in his career. This was a good day:
  19. Not necessarily my favorite; it’s hard not to put the Shock #6 or WS-F #29 at the top of the list. But my favorite sleeper EC cover:
  20. Not sure if it’s my favorite... I’ve got a lot of love for most of the titles... but MAD was the first one I fell in love with, before I ever heard of the others: I need to update the 2nd picture, thanks to @RazeI've upgraded my 17 since I first put together the set.
  21. Welcome! We always have room for more here! If you’re not sure where to start, I would track down some reprints and figure out what you’re most interested in to start. I think the War books are a great place to start right now, they’re super cheap compared to the other genres. Panic and New Direction books are also cheap, but mostly aren’t as good as the other titles. They’re still better than 98% of the books from era, just not as good as the rest of the EC’s (with some exceptions.) You might also look for covers you like that haven’t made the classic cover list, there are lots of great covers that aren’t recognized yet.
