  1. Agreed. I didn't buy the Fantucchio books because they were pedigree books... I bought them because they were nice, affordable copies of books I wanted, and the pedigree was a bonus. The Mad, I bought from Metropolis specifically because I wanted to have a Gaines File Copy in my collection, so I get the impulse!
  2. Sadly, I do not. I'm trusting that the MyComicShop listings when I bought them were correct.
  3. And then a couple of John G. Fantucchio books:
  4. For whatever reason, I realized we didn't have a thread dedicated to Pedigree magazines... or if we did, I don't recall ever seeing it and my search-fu couldn't find it. I figure if even I have a few books that qualify, others here must have some as well. So I'll start it with the few I have, and hopefully others will contribute as well. Let's start with a Gaines File Copy:
  5. It's an oddball title, to be sure. I sometimes think that it's better considered as two titles... 1-13 as one run, and 14-41 as a different series. And even if I don't care about some of the movies they adapted, it's an interesting snapshot on popular culture of that era. And for every issue that makes you go "why?" there's one like the #36, Sienkiewicz on Dune is just a crazy cool concept.
  6. You're making me feel like I was a pusher saying "first hit's free..."
  7. I do. They don't have a lot of old stuff, but they keep turning up small collections of vintage books. It seems like every time I get what I want from one find they turn up something else. They also price fairly and are willing to negotiate.
  8. In today. Only 3 Marvel Super Specials to go (not counting Sgt. Pepper’s), but the three i still need are Jaws 2 and the Kiss issues. So those may take a little while:
  9. In today. Unlike the rest of my small micronaut collection, which is either 2002 palisades or 2016 hasbro, this one is a 70’s vintage Mego.
  10. It is. It's from a preliminary layout for the splash panel of one of the stories Mayer did for foreign markets after surgery restored his eyesight. Pretty much the only piece of original art I own; everything else I have is convention sketches or commission pieces:
  11. A few in last week, that I managed to scan before my scanner decided to die again. I'm actually over the half-way mark on the title now; I don't expect to ever complete the run but I'm thinking 100-244 is very doable.
  12. It's really hard to know anything beyond that, given the distribution channels different versions could show up various places in different orders. We know that they had to have the paperback ready earlier than they other versions... Yoda looks REALLY weird in it because of that... but that's from the Marvel production standpoint, not the actual release date.
  13. Some details, I didn't remember until I went looking. But in general, for Star Wars I had tons of the figures but relatively few of the other toys. With Micronauts it was the opposite... I had the Battle Cruiser, and the Mobile Exploration Lab, and several smaller sets, plus the "big" figures like Baron Karza and Force Commander. But on the basic action figures, I had 3 or 4 different Time Travelers and one or two Galactic Warriors, but never got an Acroyear or Space Glider. And I wanted them BAD.
  14. I figure this is the best way to be sure; I've got 39-44 as well.
  15. Agreed. 3 absolutely classic stories, and the 4th at least has nice Orlando art.
  16. 5 more. Two Fisted tales wasn't completely a war book the first few issues, but after the #18 it's all war covers, at least:
  17. Well, starting with Shock #12 the last few issues of the title are much closer to Crime Suspenstories than a sampler, although there are still a couple horror stories and the Shock stories mixed in. But the SF is gone after #11, so the cover shift may be related to that.
  18. Here's some links with references: http://www.mikesamazingworld.com/mikes/features/comic.php?comicid=68418 http://www.mikesamazingworld.com/mikes/features/comic.php?comicid=60832 http://www.mikesamazingworld.com/mikes/features/comic.php?comicid=60832 But the site admits they don't have hard data on the Treasury. The treasury was the fourth and hopefully final version I'll pick up... I've got 39-44 (picked up around the time of release), the paperback (can't remember where I got that), the Super Special (probably a 6.0-7.0, a dollar bin find a year or so ago!) and now the treasury. Stunning Williamson art whatever version you track down.
  19. Pickups at the local store today. I’m really looking forward to the Goldman, I think the only thing I’ve read by him was “The Princess Bride (abridged ‘good parts’ version)".
  20. 2002 Palisades version, not Mego. But I’ve wanted an Acroyear figure for over 40 years, my parents kept buying different versions of Time Traveler for me instead:
  21. A few more Shock Suspenstories. 12 is another classic cover and the 15 seems to be heating up. The other three aren't bad, either... although I will never understand giving Frazetta the interior story on the #13 but not the cover.
  22. There's some argument on the release dates that I've seen; there was some recent discussion (I can't find the thread) suggesting the Special Edition predated the Super Special by a couple weeks. Heck, the paperback edition might be even earlier. But they definitely predated some if not most of the 39-44 run.
