Giant Size X-Men #1 and/or X-Men 94 Club

I have a copy of that rebound in a fox giant which I scanned for the digital comic museum. The book is sufficiently rare that it actually took me several years before I could find an image of the cover to add to the scan of the book.

Where are the Mad Magazine collectors?
OtherEric replied to Doohickamabob's topic in Comic Magazines
And the last three issues of Mad Magazine with original Kurtzman material I still needed. I still need 9 of the comic book issues, though. The 261 is very weird... no fold-in! Jaffee does get the back cover, though. -
The Unofficial Underground Comix thread...
OtherEric replied to 50 Cent #II (1st)'s topic in Comic Magazines
In today. Not 100% sure if these are better placed here or in the general magazine thread. Extremely happy to have them; the Mixed Bunch issue is the first appearance of Luther Arkwright, as near as I can tell. And the Chester P. Hackenbush stories are something I've wanted to see for a while. They're almost impossible to find but everybody who has seems to speak glowingly of them. -
And finishing off today's EC intake. I've always liked the newspaper style cover on the first 3 issues of Extra!; #4 is the only issue I still need for the run now:

Thank you. It could be a while before I finish another one. Or, it could be 22 hours. The Valor #3 is the new issue, finishing the run.

Bugs Bunny / Looney Tunes first appearances help
OtherEric replied to CAHokie's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
Found at my LCS today. Will, sadly, be one of the last books I ever buy from that store as they're closing. But they're going out on their own terms; we've known for 2-3 years that they would be closing within 5 years as the owner retires, the question was exactly when: -
It's an oddball title at best, it was cancelled before the mass cancellation of all the EC comics but MAD. I can almost see the logic behind it. EC was always known for looking at the psychology of its characters. Surely a medical series like this would pass muster with the worst of the critics and censors demanding wholesome content. And Jack Kamen was always absolutely brilliant at showing character through people's expressions; I can't imagine the book working at all if he hadn't been drawing it. It's designed to play right to his strengths. Other than the fact it was self-evidently a terrible idea, it wasn't a terrible idea.

Post your John Stanley Comics

I'll see if I can dig up some of my Animal Comics later to share. -
As you predicted, a copy popped up on the bay for $60. But they accepted my offer of 2/3 that, which I'm happy with because I think this is the hardest New Direction title to complete. A very relative distinction... none of the New Direction books are that scarce... but this one is still a lot thinner on the ground than the rest. And this gives me my third complete EC run, after Panic and Impact. Let's go ahead and show the group:

Where are the Mad Magazine collectors?

And one more today. Almost done with the 80's Kurtzman work; he only did 19 issues when he returned. For me, Jack Davis will always be the definitive Mad cover artist. How cool is it that his run on the series continued, on and off, for decades? -

Wasn't going to bother sharing these, but since you this was your favorite, here we go. Both in fresh yesterday, I owned both of them when they came out but got them again to fill in my run of Kurtzman's late work on the series. For all I know I still have my original copies somewhere in storage, but I have not a clue where they might be. I remember actually typing in the Mad computer program on our Apple IIe back in the day: -
I've got the first issue of Don Rosa's Comics & Stories in a box somewhere, never did find the second issue. They reprint some of the stories.

What GOLDEN AGE title would you like to come back?

Didn’t paperkutz (sp?) do some Tales from the Crypt a few years ago? -
I'll pound you to a "Pulp" if you don't show off yours!
OtherEric replied to mr.schomburg's topic in Pulp Magazines
I would call you a hoarder but I can't argue that it's a brilliant speculative investment. I'll just be happy I managed to find one copy before you got the rest!
