  1. Just bought a couple issues of Panic from Ed. Great communication, super fast delivery, excellent packaging. Extremely tight grading; technically exact but both issues look great for the grades. He even threw in an issue of Savage Sword I needed because he had seen me discussing the series in other threads and asked me if there were any I wanted. I hope he comes up with some other books I need before too long; I would be delighted to deal with him again.
  2. My favorite work of Derleth's is the Solar Pons stories, actually. I haven't read that much of his mythos work.
  3. And, Thanks to @EC ed, I now have Panic #1 and #6, with the #5 on the way from a seller on the bay. Which will be the first run of an EC title I've completed, unless you count the Complete Old and New Testament collections a complete run. The Panic #6 is from the Don & Maggie Thompson collection. I really like the idea of having one of their books; it's hard to overstate their importance to our hobby.
  4. Fresh in today; a gift from @EC ed when I bought some other books from him. The last issue I needed for my 1-60 run of Savage Sword, woot!
  5. Next to last issue of the classic run. Most notable story is "The Survivor", by August Derlith and H. P. Lovecraft, at least in theory. Most experts don't consider the Derlith/ Lovecraft "posthumous collaborations" to be Lovecraft in any real sense; although this one seems to have more of a claim to legitimacy than most.
  6. Well, if nothing else your posting it right after my post is perfect timing; we wound up with two consecutive issues in order. The cover artist on your book is the amazing Hannes Bok. I still need a copy of this issue one of these years, as you say it's a beauty. Let's go for 3 consecutive issues; I've posted this one before but it's too fitting not to show it again:
  7. For some reason the colors are really muted on this scan, but I figured I would post it anyway. One of my favorites among the handful of late Brundage covers; quite happy to get a copy:
  8. There must be a few others, but none come to mind for me either.
  9. Next, Looney Tunes 63, 66, and 76... which were the last three I needed to give me everything from #50 up. 21 issues to go:
  10. My internet at home is waiting on a new modem, but I felt this thread couldn’t wait for a bump so it’s my phone to the rescue. First up, Porky Pig 81. Last Dell issue:
  11. I absolutely love the Genius Jones and Jimminy and the Magic Book stories. I've managed to track down about half of the last 20 issues; they're highly underrated in my opinion. Although for me it's mostly down to the two features I mentioned.
  12. Today's book. While I don't think any of the Super Specials are particularly hard to find (unless you're looking for #7 for some reason...), they don't seem to pop up in the wild as nearly as often as I would expect.
  13. I really like the Comicfidential cover, personally. But you're not entirely wrong. And even if some of the minimalist gags are good, there's just way too many of them in a row. I know i always need to double check my list to remember which issues i already have.
  14. And today's addition to the collection. Easily the most common of the "low distribution" EC's, by a mile. Just in general, I think Panic is a horribly underrated book. It gets punished for not being Mad; and that's not an entirely unfair position. But just try and tell me a book with Davis, Orlando, Elder, and Wood as the regular artists isn't excellent as a minimum. Even EC claimed it was the best of the Mad rip-off books in house ads, and it really was.
  15. I’ll try and scan the relevant page when I get home, but if I recall correctly when they announce the format change along the lines of “for three years we’ve been corrupting the minds of America’s youth. Now we get to work on the adults.” If you look at Trump, Humbug, and Help you see that targeting of a slightly older audience.
  16. Cross-posting this here as well as in magazines, as it's one of the 3 magazine issues of Mad that still has the EC logo on the cover. Fresh in today:
  17. And, fresh in today, Mad #25. This gives me a complete run of Mad 20-31, covering the last 4 comic book issues, all 5 Kurtzman edited magazine size issues, and the first 3 Feldstein edited issues, which also happens to use up the last of the inventory from Kurtzman. I still need about half the comic issues, but I think this gives me a very interesting and important run of books. Also some very, very funny reading!
  18. I remain fond of the Buster Crabbe #5 cover, which I maintain should be considered the 0th cover in the run, just like the Weird Science-Fantasy is the 9th:
  19. If I didn’t already have a complete run of the title, I would have. Thank you for making the offer in any case, and I’m glad they’re finding a good home.
  20. For some reason they went with a cover for the reprint story. I sometimes think something weird happened behind the scenes with that issue for that to happen.
  21. And a few more today. Mike Kaluta is just an insanely good artist.
  22. Some more Savage Swords today. Highlight was this one, the next to last issue. As near as I can tell the apparent smudging in the number box is common to all copies.
