  1. Thanks, he is well deserved, he's an absolute nightmare!
  2. Can anyone give me some info on why ultimatecomicbooks is on the blocked buyer list?
  3. Could of been worse, Disney could have bought CGC.
  4. I always liked, Dan and his employee, Wendy. They were always very nice and on the rare occasion when I did have a problem with something I bought, Dan always made it right, one time he told me to keep the book and refunded me the cost of it and the shipping. His Saturday no reserve auctions used to be great back in the early 2000's, I think the quantity he used to list, meant he did not have time to check it all thoroughly, as it was every Sat, with a lot of runs, multiples etc Sorry to hear he has passed away, RIP Dan.
  5. Love that, great find, never knew there was a game, I wanna play, lol.
  6. bit weird, how comes know one has bought this copy for over a thousand less? https://www.ebay.com/itm/MARVEL-SPOTLIGHT-5-1st-GHOSTRIDER-CGC-8-0-W-OW-PGS-RED-HOT-BRONZE-AGE-MEGA-KEY/184741827117?hash=item2b0378922d:g:AN8AAOSwEflf3hRt

  8. I remember buying a few of these in the 80's. Spider-Man 129 was getting pretty pricey and very sought after, Punisher had his own series etc I think shops started pushing this book, there were plenty out there, but not so many 129's. I also think origin books were more important to collectors back then as I would always be seeking them out and shops would always mention origin of .... for me I collected runs, but I also collected 1st appearance and origin issues. Avengers 58 used to be a big origin issue and that lost a lot of attention 21st century, maybe it's picked up a lot now because of obvious reasons. Dominic Fortune was not even mentioned in any of the shops I went to, just, Punisher Origin. Undervalued ones, let's not forget the 1st Foolkiller in Man-Thing 3, he was hot for a short period in the 80's.
  9. that's true, but I think most still consider this a key as well.
  10. I remember buying X-Men 94, Giant Size 1 back in late 80's early 90's, they were always similar value then, or in the shops they were. I remember having the choice for one or the other and at the time went for the 94 as it was part of the run and the set.
  11. I thought last year they took out and banned the Captain Americas statue out of a game incase it offended anyone? Not even Cap's safe.
  12. I think it's really weird that all these issues, that are minor 1st appearance of characters no one has ever cared about are suddenly becoming $50+ books, things like Defenders 112. It seems every week, some random bronze age comic is now the next big hot book. I remember years back, some people would push certain books, because they had a nice stash of them. Now on key collector, they mention just something, suddenly it's a collectible key no matter how unpopular it has been for the past ++years. I'm wondering, if someone on that site, buys up lots of $1-$3 unimportant 1st appearances of characters no one knows or cares about, then when they've got a long box, do a blog about that issue, then everyone jumps on the bandwagon and buys them up, prices falsely rise because of the sheep, dealers and ebayers who know no better, all the while, who's laughing all the way to the bank?
  13. I was thinking for awhile that the big bad was going to be The Red Skull when everyone was saying Mephisto, but I'm pretty sure it's Loki now, he's The God of Mischief, he shapes shifts and it will tie into his series, hope I'm wrong.
  14. Yes, we like the romance books now, some great covers by some of our favourites. But I don't think it quite hit their original target audience they were after. I like Monica's casting, she is very good, wish we had her as Captain Marvel over Brie to begin with.
  15. How many cheesy sitcoms have been made over the years? A lot more than 25 I think? The original fans of comics, bought comics because they were superhero beat em ups, they were action packed, if you remember and know your comics you'll know that romance comics, humour comics didn't do to well compared to the beat em ups. Marvel should be trying to please their long time fans and not begging for a different audience, but pleasing the audience that have made them the success that they are. I thought the hulu shows were bad, then I watched this dross and people are getting excited about irrelevant easter eggs when nothing else of any significance is happening? I can't believe the reviews on IMDB are real, some yeah, but the amount of 10's, they're fake, what has exactly happened in this show so far with only 2 episodes left? Then when you go outside it's an Agents of Shield feel. The Vision has become Paul Bettany, rather than the actor becoming The Vision. Agatha Harkness, all along, duh, we had no clue all along did we that it was Agatha, we really sre dumb in disneys eyes. Then they mock the original costumes, why don't these people try creating something original themselves. I know it's the disney channel, might as well call wandavison the disney show, as it does not feel like any marvel comics I've ever read before, maybe Bill and Ted.
  16. Another time waster, user name spiderben12 I send an offer, he sends a counter offer, I accept, day or so later says he's changed his mind as a dealer friend says it was too much and he wants it in better condition and that I have to cancel the transaction because ebay told him he can. I was going to do the non paying bidder, which I should have, but thought I would just get him out my way and block him, so I canceled at his request, but he has not agreed to cancelation and I have to wait it out for some reason, which is weird, as I've canceled at buyers requests before and it does it straight away usually. I sent him a message asking if he still wanted to cancel the transaction, but he just ignored me, so I have to wait it out for 10 days I guess, in future I'll just do non paying bidder for annoying ones like him.
  17. If the new writer says it's a symbiote, then who are the original creators to say otherwise, lol. Besides, I always though the first appearance was in DC, ;-).
  18. Here's another one to add, doubt if they'll buy to much, or from America, but just incase. vat8656 Bought an Eternals 1, sent it tracked and signed, they got it yesterday, and said different item sent than in picture, which is a lie. They did not open dispute through ebay, did it through paypal, spoke with ebay, they said it should have been done through them and are looking into it. Then spoke with paypal, who said they can open the dispute through them or ebay if they wish. Paypal asked me to submit a response, and sent an email saying, "The buyer stated that the item was defective or not as described. Please be aware that due to consumer protection laws, PayPal cannot guarantee the return of your merchandise if the case is found in favor of the buyer." So is this a new way for scammers to get free items? Will let you know what happens next :-(
  19. Shoo seems a nasty piece of work from what I've read on the first 10 pages. If he was so bothered about him asking for friends and family, why did he still go ahead and do the transaction? All he was trying to do is defuse the situation by putting blame elsewhere and distracting from the main problem, which is exactly what he was doing with the questions being asked by some of the members. Never heard anyone make such a fuss about having a package being sent signed for, I think he was most annoyed that he could not get to make a claim with paypal that he never got the item because a signature was required, otherwise he would be happy to have the extra protection in place with a package for this much, even if he is working weird hours, plenty of us are! He should be added in the ebay block bidder page if he has not been done so already :-(
  20. I hope the buyer is legit, I've had it quite a few times where the postal company does not get a signature and sometimes the buyer tries to pull a fast one and this is on silly things worth $40. The amount of things I have delivered to me that require a signature and they don't ask for it, luckily I'm not like that, I don't want it done to me, so would never do it on anyone else. Post office should be looking into whom it was last recorded with, they seem a bit out of order saying that to you, especially considering the value, did you write Hulk 181 on the description? Hope it turns up for you :-( best wishes
  21. I thought CGC was meant to be impartial and third party? What prices fetch should be irrelevant, if it's flawless, then it should be a 10 regardless of value, otherwise what's the point in having a 10 point scale if it's rarely used, or to only be used sparingly. By using it sparingly, they are creating the prices to be 10x, it there were multiple 9.9's or 10's then the value would not be so high to begin with. I've seen 9.8 Hulk 181's better than that 9.9 Hulk 181. I've heard some dealers say it depends on who submits it as to what grade you might get when you get to the 9.8-10 criteria, but who knows.
  22. I bet she pulled that Werewolf by Night 32 for herself, lol, nice lot, well done ;-)
  23. be careful of this guy, something is not right, username millergarmin He made an offer on a friends hulk 181, almost the asking price of about 6K, but said he would not pay through ebay and would only pay over the phone through paypal once my friends email was given. My friend said the account was created in Canada, but is now registered to a woman in the UK with a shipping address in Edinburgh. The man phoned my friend, he said he had a strong African accent and said he would only pay paypal but not through ebay, which seems a bit weird, but maybe you guys know of some scams people can do this way? On another note, with this same book, another seller, totally different person has listed it on ebay.co.uk for almost 60K https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/INCREDIBLE-HULK-181-CGC-9-0-1974-1st-WOLVERINE-WHITE-PAGES-CENTS-BRONZE-AGE/154053850451?hash=item23de533553:g:C8gAAOSwBuVe4rRP Not sure if he has a slabbed book in the same grade and just swiped the picture, but he does not have this book as it's my friends who submitted it through CGC himself and has had his picture swiped. I contacted ebay as well as my friend to alert them to this, but over a month later it was still there and now with a much higher price, think he was asking about 10K before.
