  1. Hi Guys, usual rules apply, no naughty people please ;-) Postage is $20, regardless of how many books you buy, payment is via paypal or cash on collection. Returns are accepted up three days after receipt if you're not happy with the book. All the puzzles are untouched, most of these have some foxing, due to cheap paper quality.
  2. pence makes cents ;-) The thing is, the pence editions are still American Comics, just a price variation, made on the same press, only the front cover has the slight changes, rest of the comic is identical.
  3. Had a Bowen statue on ebay, special offer where I only pay £1 ebay fees, guy buy's it now for £250, then does not pay or respond to messages, couldn't even tell me he changed his mind, so just had to play it through. Buyers ID is newagecollectibles what a total time waster.
  4. I can see where Martin Scorsese is coming from. If I think of a cinematic film, I think of such films as Lawrence of Arabia. I think all of Martin's films, and most of the best directors films, are filmed in proper locations, so everything is quite real, as it is real. Now think about Marvel films, as much as we love them, half of it, if not more is CGI or green screen, so there's not much to say about the visuals in terms of cinematography. Most of it is just done by some person sitting behind a computer who is very good at CGI. When do comic films ever get considered for best film, best director, best actor at the Oscars? Never, I'm hoping Joker has a chance, but again, the filming of this is all very real, most of it in locations or sets, might be a little CGI, but can't think of any of hand.
  5. What if the comic was worth $300 and he only sold $200 worth of tickets, is that okay then? I've seen big companies do raffles for brand new cars, if the car is worth $100,000 and they sell $200,000 worth of raffle tickets, do they get in trouble for the extra they made? People are not stupid, if they want to do it, they will and if they don't, then they will not. Is it not up to the individual person whether they want to do it or not, no ones twisting their hands? If you did a raffle for a $17,000 Amazing Fantasy 15, $50 buy ins, a lot of people would do that on here for the sake of owning such a grail. Then one person here, at his own free will, will be the lucky owner of this magnificent book which ordinarily he would not own. Yes the organizer is making $3000 out of it, but he is possibly working though. And isn't a raffle better than a lucky dip, as you know someone will get the 17K dream book, where with lucky dips on ebay, how often does anyone ever win the prized gems you see in the pictures?
  6. There may be an extra $100 made by the organizer, but someone will get a $300 comic for $20? I'm guessing the people buying the tickets know this and the risk that they might get nothing is obvious. Also, if the person doing the raffle was just going to get $300 and not make the little extra, then he might as well not do it in the first place and sell it on Ebay? Then the one lucky person who would have won the $300 comic for $20 wont get the win, which they possibly could not afford in the first place?
  7. First run I ever completed was Marvel Two in One, back in the early to mid 80's. Was a great read, and I really enjoyed them. At the time, I remember getting excited over elusive issues pre 25, was so exciting then, to fill the gaps, as opposed to now, where nearly everything is readily available on the internet.
  8. So, Gatty, what color is Jesus in your opinion? As a creator, if I create characters, I create them in the way I want and if they are successful and other people like them, then good, but they are my creations in my little imaginary world and I will have them as I desire and not be forced to have them changed because some bigwig who's never created anything of their own comes along and says they have to be X, Y and Z suddenly. Sorry, but **** off and do some of your own creating and stop living off the back of past creators. As for history, whether you believe in the bible or not, would you have Alexander the Great portrayed by a POC? Would we have Malcolm X or JFK played by opposite races. As for Jesus, maybe you know better than everyone else, Gatty, but there is a lot of speculation, I don't know that history to well and unfortunately they did not have pictures like we do now. All races did originate from Africa though and spread out, even white people, whom would have olive skin from the very hot sun they had back then, . The history of the comics might mean nothing to you Gatty, but to me it does. These comics grew up with have a history, although fictional, it is still there, over 50 years worth, and then some PC plod wants to come along and change all that to what he thinks is right. Funny thing is, it's not people of color from my understanding that want all these changes in these characters, but a certain other group who wake up in the morning with guilt complexes because of past atrocities that have happened, something most of us had nothing to do with. And as for, Magneto, he still could be from the holocaust, who says he ages the same way as a normal human does? Wolverine, as native, or half breed would be a good idea ;-) My friend, reckons Prof X should be older and have a protege who is a POC and pass on his knowledge to him to take over his position as leader of the X-Men.
  9. I think you should just create new characters then, not try to change the history of the original characters. Do you think in China, Africa or any other country they'd change the heroes from their fictional creations to try to please anyone? Imagine the uproar if old Asian or African gods, heroes, were changed and appeared as a white man, would not be allowed, tolerated and would not happen period. I'm sorry, but I like the comics to be true to original creators (the people who made them and decided their appearance) and if it was old white men creating mostly white men characters, then so be it. Although I thought marvel had quite a few characters of color anyhow, but if they want more, then create some off their own backs and not the hard work from others who are no longer with us. Get's on my nerves modern people trying to change others creations in the vision they think it should be now, GO AND CREATE YOUR OWN and do what you like with them! As for Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, he was black in the ultimate universe, and Heimdell, yeah makes sense for an ancient norse god to be black doesn't it ;-) Also talks of Wolverine to be POC as well now, lets have a POC as Batman and Joker, see if that's okay with some of you ;-)
  10. Latest is, Professor X and Magneto are to be POC! Absolutely ridiculous if you ask me, my friends, who are black say it's a terrible idea and can't understand why they just don't create new characters if they want this. Sounds bad for X-Men already, maybe, maybe FOX should have sold to SONY :-(
  11. So, the original poster has not been back ;-)
  12. It's a nice lot, obviously you can ask what you want, trouble is, as many have said, a lot of the big keys are not there. Now I know you said you're not bothered by selling to dealers, (who need to make usually at least 50%) trouble is, when you have them in big lots like this, it's more appealing to dealers than collectors, a collector of Spideys will have a lot of them already. Then you have to take into account, the comic market is different now to what it was 20 years ago, I don't think there's as many people out there collecting runs as back in the day, people want either key issues for speculating, or they want very high grade copies of certain issues. To get your most, you most probably should list all the older ones in 99p auctions, no reserve and then put the more recent ones in lots of 30 or so, I think you'd make a bit doing it this way, as sometimes people get caught up in the heat of the moment and don't like to be outbid and ASM's would do alright like this. Plus you have scans already, so not to hard (apart form all the posting afterwards). Good luck what ever you do ;-)
