  1. I bought over 200 1st printing copies when it came out and about 10 variants. Held on to them all till now. Sent about half in so far! Cashing in a little on them now. I'm sure there are some newstands in there.
  2. We had the deal negotiated in under 12 hours. I waited to pull it down until all money was sent. Fees are outrageous selling a book on eBay like this. It made sense to make the deal outside of eBay for both parties. Just sucks that it won't hit GPA I'll miss the book but I decided to get it of the collecting hobby. I've been holding an entire asm run including all variants and now it's time to move on to other hobbies. Next up is my asm 688 JSC cgc 9.8 yellow.... As far as the buyer, we spoke on the phone and I don't believe he is a boardie here.
  3. Just an FYI I was the seller of the 9.8 that was just on eBay. The buyer and I agreed to a price outside of eBay that saves him money and didn't hit me with all the fees. The first 9.8 I sold here on the forums for $300 back in the day and now I finally sold my other one (for much more this time).
  4. Now if someone would be kind enough to purchase it
  5. Another thing, but I could be wrong...Just because a comic store orders 25 copies doesn't mean they "get" a variant. They have to order the variant, typically for cover price. I'm not sure if that's normal for a shop to satisfy a purchase and not pay the option for the variant, but nevertheless, i believe via Diamond order sheet you must purchase the variant in addition.
  6. To the last poster that removed their post about rareness....I think the key here is 9.8 for rareness, not 9.6 and under (IMO). There are tons of these out there but finding one in 9.8 is the challenge.
  7. Agreed! I bought both of mine off the shelf for $9.00 (pre-LCS discount)been released and both got cgc 9.8 blue labels. I need another score like that!
  8. Never buy these books in the polybag without expecting less than a 9.0. The crease from the polybag seam. I've pressed countless copies of this to remove the creases and said printer grab dent on the front lower right side.
  9. That's great congrats! Make sure you post it here when it arrives. Maybe someone should make and keep track of the boardie owned copies of this exclusive club after all. -J. DONE!! http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=8708798#Post8708798
  10. Because you, the fans, demanded it! For general discussions about this book see the other thread http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=8708783&fpart=1. 1.) Spidey78 - Blue - 9.8 (page 1) 2.) Snikt!1988 - SS - 9.8 3.) jump_ace - Blue - 9.8
  11. Now if we could get more eBay sellers to stop selling them polybaged or at least screaming "brand new! NM+ because it's in the polybag still". 90% of the copies on eBay are 8.0 at best.
  12. The only difference is Marvel Studios has their hand in it now.
  13. Sweet, time to get these submitted then...
  14. Bagged is a guarantee sell but for anywhere from $5-$20 (knowing the damage, I dont buy copies for over $9-10 each). Unbagged without damage I've seen sell for $50-60.
  15. Be sure and note they are pressed when you sell them! Absolutely. Hanging on to them for a bit first.
  16. The only polybagged UF4 was 1st printing regular cover. The variant (where the money really is) wasnt polybagged. I dont know print runs but that 1:25 is rare for sure, especially in 9.8 grade. As far as the "This book is not remotely rare in 9.8" comment....i would agree only because (like i said before) the damage is super easy to press out and some of the smart people took it out of the bag right away. The true concern is that there are far to many non-9.8 out there, with a majority being 9.0 or lower because of the damage. Miles was a gamble in the early days and the people that "bought into him" did so because of the hopes for a good story. I was one of those guys, and absolutely loved the whole "death of peter" ultimate line, fallout and everything since. I have over 45 copies of UF4 1st printing and 4 1:25 variants. 2 of my 1:25 are graded at 9.6, one raw is 9.6 and i just bought another that looks to be a 9.8. I've pressed out all of my 1st printings and submitted a few to test the grading waters on a pressed copy, both came back 9.8.
  17. When you take it out, report back on how bad the rear cover crease is. The polybag hides it so well. My opinion is all books should be out of the polybag. The only difference from superman and uf4 is the placement of the polybag seal. On uf4 it was vertical right on the cover which caused more damage. With superman the polybag is black so you can't even see the book to know the damage. In general the materials of those polybags are so bad for comics over time. Superman is redieing in that bag
  18. Polybaged have proven to cause more harm than good. Strictly from a cgc and grading stance polybaged comics are simply a No. Even raw, UF4 is selling for way more than the polybaged. The longer that book sits in a polybag, especially wedged in a bag and board the low the grade it goes. It might be the worse polybaged book in history (based on the amount I've seen and pressed).
  19. Luckily, the copies that have no other damage other than the nasty crease down the back of the book (which in most cases penetrates into the last 7-8 page) can be pressed out super easy. I've pressed a few out now that got a 9.8.
  20. $ is $ (thumbs u Anyone see this yet? Link. I think I'm gonna get one, on the off chance it takes off a little. I wouldn't expect anything like the real 678, but maybe it could reach a couple hundy for a 9.8 Should I make a Spidey 678 MJ owners thread? Or would it be too confusing with this thread? Jerome Yea and they increased the price from $9.99 (i got a big order in on them when it was $9.99) . My guess is these will be no where near the couple hundy tag in 9.8. Far too many. Comicxposure over produces variants.
  21. Woohoo, Welcome to the Club Maybe we need to start our own topic for 9.8 owners
  22. Wrong on the "few days" part. I have an order that has been in the "Quality Control" state for almost a week and a half....Best of luck, cant wait to hear what the grade is.
  23. It's been discussed before in that it probably doesn't have much to do with it being a 1:50 but more that the print run was low, no significant story and yet a sweet cover. Because of this, not only is finding them rare alone, finding one in good condition is the challenge. Most shops that happen to get one in treated it like , tossing it on the shelf roughly getting damaged. So pretty sure because the cover is awesome, barely any exists-in good condition makes it a gem to find.
  24. Yup, both off the shelf. I also have a picture I took of all the books i sent to CGC (a before / after type picture) with both of those included. Funny, looking back there was no reason why I sent those in. To this day I'm not even sure what i sent them in but glade i did.
