  1. So i found a couple scans of the 9.8's I have....or should say have/had. I sold one to a boardie here for dirt cheap back in the day before the prices exploded and i forgot who, so maybe if you are reading this you can remind me I still have the other one. The one I sold to a boardie is CGC #1100306004
  2. 1.) my cgc 9.8 is in a glass case (trophy case) 2.) I sold my other 9.8 a few years ago to a boarder for $500. I thought I made out like a bandit.
  3. A legit CGC 9.8 blue label (of which there are only 14) would probably bring $3000-3500 IMO. -J. You just want me to list mine don't you!?!?
  4. Eh...because the price for this book is SO HIGH, I would imagine a die hard spidey completist would want to make sure the book is in as good as possible condition before dropping that kind of bank on it. I feel like I would have buyers remorse if I dropped $1.5k on this book (being a modern) and it had enough damage to not get at least a 9.6. The problem with all these raw listings is that they are only posting 1 or 2 pictures (none of the back cover). Impossible to get a good feel on the grade with the pictures I've been seeing on feebay lately. Then again....this book is a friggen mystery. Holding my cgc 9.8 with the death grip!
  5. Do it! (You won't... ) You're probably right. Let's just say we live in this magical universe where I actually got $3500 for mine, Id probably still feel like I could have got more . I wish the forum let me search further back than 1 year on pm's cause I totally forgot who I sold my other 9.8 to but it was for like $400 at the time. I felt like I was getting a sick deal.
  6. ha, for what it's worth someone posted this in a facebook selling group I'm a part of.
  7. Could be. I may be better off just selling mine raw when the day comes and save on the grading fees. Like this guy just did... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Spiderman-678-Mary-Jane-Venom-Joe-Quinones-Variant-Cover-NM-/351329366668?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51ccdcb28c I would imagine that you would do better slabbing it if you think it is a 9.4 or better. -J. The longer I have it the more I wanna keep it though, definitely is at least a 9.6. Taking a wait and see with it, and I can't imagine the price on it ever going down by much. It's one of the ultimate status / bragging rights books Which is why I hate that I sold one of my 9.8's. I still have one of my 9.8's but to have two would have been awesome
  8. Art work aside, this is a phenomenon. The value of this book is mostly due to a story with no significance, with a random variant (1:10 I think) that not many places ordered. Those that ordered treated the book like . The cover is cool , albeit not awesome artwork. Comic prices work in mysterious ways. I'm lucky to be holding one.
  9. Picked both of these up at NYCC 2014 and had Jeff sign them while there.
  10. I bought 2 of these off the rack at a chain comic store back when they came out. Both were sitting out for 2 days before I bought them for around $10 each. I submitted both and each came back blue 9.8. When I submitted them there were only 2 or 3 on the census in 9.8. I sold one on the forums here some time ago for about $300 (before the huge price spike). The other I still have, this is it:
  11. Not yet. I actually was one of those people that thought the spin tick that came on pretty much all ASM #700's wouldnt grade 9.6/9.8 but apparently CGC takes that "flaw" into account on grading. I might grade it sometime. I would expect a 9.6 from it probably. Might have to do this now...
  12. To add on to your comment, I think of the LCS's that had this; because it wasnt anything special as far as story line, the comic wasn't treated well (i.e. tossed on the shelf, slammed into a bag/board quickly). So finding one in decent shape, 9.6/9.8 is hard. The spidey completionists that keep tabs on their weekly orders are the ones that got lucky....thats me ever since #698.
  13. And out of curiosity, did you also score a 667 Del'Otto from your same LCS? That one is over five times rarer than the 678 VenoMJ. -J. Sadly I didn't, and that was because of my own stupidity, I didn't place the order for it . What's great about the Newbury Comics stores is that they (in my case at least) always get my variants and never miss them. They charge a standard price for all variants. The highest price for any variant is a 1:200 for $99.00 and they always grade 9.8. I haven't missed a single SSM variant yet. Those that are con exclusives I need to get elsewhere though. What did they charge you for the Ditko 700? $149.99 for the Ditko. Yea, I have one of those LCS's that dont round up to the dollar. I feel like I'm shopping at Walmart.

  15. I bought 2 of these from my LCS (Newbury Comics) for $7.99 each. Both came back Blue 9.8. I sold one to a boardie and have the other on display in my comic room. Great cover!
  16. You'd be surprised in what people collect! I already sold a couple of these raw (9.2/9.4ish) for about $50 each. Not sure who is buying these, but based on whay people are paying for them when I see a chance to get one like a comic con exclusive and signed, I'll do it. Btw, I already got rid of this 9.6 copy....I traded it for a 9.8 ASM 361 1st print.
  17. Just got my Boston Comic Con Submissions back. 1.) Super Spider-Man #1 Ed McGuiness sketch cover, signed by Ed McGuiness 2.) For the Bronies in the crowd (it's for sale), My Little Pony #6 Boston Comic Con Exclusive. Signed by the cover artist, Agnes Garbowska 3.) The best submission of the bunch. I got 2 sets of these all 9.8 SS, I'm keeping one set and the other is off to the For Sale forum. Newbury Comics exclusive Adventure Time Mural set. The cover artist (Maris Wicks) created a Boston theme mural using 3 covers. Each is signed by Maris Wicks (Cover artist) and Shelli Paroline and Braden Lamb (the regular Adventure Time artists). Love this set.
  18. Thanks and Thanks I hope to find this artist again soon.
  19. Local artist up here in Boston. I forget his name, but got this piece of artwork from him at a show. It's all pencil. Stan Lee was at the show also so I had him sign it.
  20. Not me, I'm already part of this club. Not NEC, Harrison's comics in Salem ma has a cgc ASM 1 low grade.
  21. I am from MA, and I just heard that Harrison's in Salem got a cgc ASM 1 on the wall. Not sure grade but I heard it was low grade (under 4.0)
  22. I bought both my copies off the newstand for $6.99 and both came back cgc 9.8. I sold one already to a boardie. I am a complete ASM collector, but finding every variant is going to be massively insane. I might let it go to fill in the remained of my ASM (non-variant) run.
  23. Mine is the other 9.8 blue label one up with the high bin . I'm just trying to see what offers look like. I've gotten a couple messages with offers for about 1k + trade of that would just never interest me.
  24. Yup, I bought them already...now to hunt that variant for the price you mentioned because that's outrageously cheap I'm one of those suckers for variants. I'm trying as best as i can to get all ASM's including variants (some will be near impossible though) That use to be me, but I sold the majority of my variants to start saving to get a copy of AF #15. variants just don't hold their value so I will just get the cheap affordable variants that I like. Happy hunting though. I'm not really in this for the $ aspect as much as I am for collecting "all" asm issues. Life long goal for sure, but i'd love the day i could say i own every ASM book normal and variants. In general though, i try not to overpay for my books as I have a real good relationship with some LCS and dealers to get variants as a decent price. This will be my first 1:700...in fact, has there ever been another 1:700 or higher?
