Giant Size X-Men #1 CGC 8.5 OW/W
Ryan. replied to YouFoundDonon's topic in Golden/Silver/Bronze Age Only
Ugh, Stan Len? -
Bumping this thread with some price drops. Army Fun volume 1, issue 1. Digest sized from 1951. Tough to find. Spine split. $25. $20. Beware this Magazine is Fantastic 9. VG. Great underwater GGA cover. Spine split down to top staple. Really flat. $125. $100. Dagar, Desert Hawk 14. Good-. Mouse chew on right side of cover and through about half of the pages. However, this is one of the great GGA covers with saucy art throughout. Seriously, look at that cover. $150 $125. Teen-age Temptations 4. Awesome Baker cover. GD. 1" tear on spine/left hand side of front cover. $395. $350. Take all 4 books for $500

I don't think there's any "new" Baker material that hasn't seen print, so I imagine it is all "reprints". The quality seems pretty low, but I do not have a copy to say for certain. I believe most of his St John work is public domain, so there are certainly hacks out there who will steal Digital Comic Museum scans and reprint them. I do have a copy of Romance Without Tears, and the quality is fantastic. If you are a Baker fan, that one is a must have. https://www.amazon.com/Romance-Without-Tears-Comics-Twist/dp/156097558X Okay, allow me to rephrase since all newly Baker printed material is, by necessity, a "reprint". Is this Noir of Matt Baker book just another in a long line of reprinted material or is there something unique about this publication (for example, biographical materials, art criticisms, etc) that makes it work having? I read The Art of Glamour, which is a retrospective, and it was great so I'm eager for more material like that. Pursuant to this train of thought, it appears that there are a few different reprints of It Rhymes with Lust out there now. Does anyone have any feelings on which is the best?

So perhaps the explanation for the damage is the carppy magazine cases and not intentional misconduct.
-
Yes. The evidence clearly suggests that. The altercation during the encapsulation process, the flawless packages, and it being overseen by the Director. If there is another explanation as to how my magazines, in two separate invoices, shipped two different days, in four different perfect boxes, can be subjected to such damage, I'd like to hear it. Interesting. Please keep us updated on your civil suit.

What are you saying? CGC intentionally caused damage?
-
I'm sure your intentions are honorable but the topic of pressing service recommendations is in poor taste to discuss here. The topic always ends badly. Please consider dropping the discussion. It's not about violating rules per se but simply being polite to our host. Pressing services create a direct pipeline for downstream submissions to CGC. In other words, CGC benefits from all pressing services. Discussing them helps CGC, it doesn't harm them. [Devil's Advocate] Doesn't help CGC/CCS if the prospective submitter uses a different slabbing company and/or different presser. [/Devil's Advocate] Depends. The more people that submit for slabbing, regardless of the company, the more CGC benefits. At any point slabbing could stop being of interest to collectors and then no slabbing companies benefit. It's like TGI Friday's and Chili's opening in the same plaza. Both restaurants benefit from the other's overflow traffic. Or dealers who set up at conventions. They don't get mad at other competing dealers having booths in the same building. They all revel in having a destination place for people to spend their money. A healthy market, which includes competition, is good for business.

There doesn't seem to be much sales activity on the boards anywhere except for a few select sellers.
