  1. Apparently it is. Or at least it is when using wildly over the top ebay type description styles when selling your comics. If Coyote Ugly has taught me anything, and I believe it has, it's that ASM 129 is the holy grail of comics.
  2. Isn't this thread for discussing the PL and HoS, and the General thread for discussing active sales threads?
  3. Take this as an opportunity to learn.... ....to just listen to me without thinking about it too long. Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter. Do you have a moment to talk to me about my being your personal Lord and Savior? PM sent.

  5. My comment was a genuine offer to provide guidance on GPA pricing. He did not take me up on that offer.
  6. I would be happy to join you in that sentiment, but no one here is serious about buying. Now, granted, I don't give my stuff away. My prices are high. But I sold a raw 9.6 Spidey #299 for $55 on eBay the other day. No one here will pay $55 for a raw 9.6 Spidey #299. Even with all fees, I still clear more than $48. I'd be lucky to get $30 for it here. I sold a NM 9.4 copy of X-Men #114 for $65. A NM+ 9.6 copy of X-Men #106 for $100. I just don't see the type of prices paid here that can compete. I should amend my statement to say that the buying market here and the buying market on ebay are definitely different from one another. There are some books I won't bother listing here because I know they won't sell for a reasonable price. Conversely there are certain books I try to sell here first because, for whatever reason, they do well here but not so much on ebay. So there is some selection bias in my feelings on selling here but I do try to cater to the "tastes" of buyers when possible. In general though, yes, I rarely expect to receive my list price when selling on the boards.
  7. I don't blame people for being risk-averse but my positive transaction experiences by far outweigh the negative. I've had some buyers flake out on payment, some sellers take weeks to ship, and there's the endless stream of extreme lowballers, but these are all fairly minor issues. This is still the best place to buy and sell, and I include LCS' and conventions in that statement.
  8. The other problem is trigger happy newbie AND veteran buyers who can't lay off a comic because....cool books rule all That reminds me: I need to hit my LCS' and check their quarter bins for Captain America 6s.
  9. There are very few scams successfully pulled off here. The primary problem with brand new members who come in with obvious scam attempts is that they take up some virtual real estate in the marketplace and provide a few hours of entertainment for those paying attention. The minumum post count threshold for buying/selling has been discussed ad nauseum in the past and the statistics simply do not support the perception that scammers are limited to mostly new members. There are plenty of longtime members who suddenly find themselves on the probation list, just as there are plenty of longtime members with very low post counts who are perfectly trustworthy buyers and sellers.
  10. I considered bidding on the #1 but couldn't pull the trigger. The spine creases were really ugly and considering the seller described the book as NM/M I was paranoid that there were many other defects not obvious by the scans.
  11. That makes me happy I got my 5.0 when I did. Yowza.
  12. Buy the set and sell me the 1st print.
  13. I emailed the seller a couple weeks back asking if he'd break up the set but he never responded. Seems like a decent price either way. MCS had a mid-grader 2nd print listed for a while but looks like it sold.
  14. At least they have April fainting. I think that's made it into every iteration.
  15. There's one available here: http://www.bestincomics.com/graded-comic-books/albedo-1-cgc-9-4-w-0615921026
  16. Here's my entry to the #1 second print club:
  17. You do know that you can't witness any books that you want graded.
